  • @AppleSider1 Um, I'm afraid he'll NEVER realize this because he's a Neo-Nazi. I'm a Chinese and I get easily offended by him. I went to his channel, and all the writing he did on his feedback, I felt as if he wanted to kill us Asians! >:( He even cursed you...

Still, I respect your opinion. ;)

  • woah, racism, dude like just smoke some weed, eat some dumplings, and enjoy life and stop hating other cultures, don't be afraid to get to know new people either, we fear what we don't know, then we become defensive, i think its gotta be like a human behavior thing, but the correct thing to do is put that feeling aside and take a risk in getting to know different people, so that you know you don't need to be afraid and/or hate

  • @Beekyskeep Dude, he's a Neo-Nazi...

  • @johnisaacs4 Beautiful? To who? Or what is a better question. You're probably a 300 pound tard that sits at home crying and trolling because no one likes you.

  • There is no such thing as Chinese new year. It is called "LUNAR NEW YEAR".

  • @johnadamsyt Incorrect - it is also REFERRED to as the Lunar New Year and Spring Festival. But its origins are very humbly from the Chinese Lunisolar calendar. Also why the Chinese New Year ushers in the Chinese Animal corresponding to the year.

  • @garyojlai Show me your evidence that this new year originated from China? The word China, has only been in existence for less than 100yrs. This tradition spans 1000s of years,

  • @johnadamsyt Also incorrect - the word "China" is used loosely, it is understood that China's history is divded into two parts, Ancient China, and China. Ancient China history dates back a few dynasties to when "China" was just in tribes. As for the tradition - It is more accurately referred to as the Spring Festival - simply changed because of the inaccuracies in Western translation. It actually goes back several hundred years to an untraceable date in China's history....

  • @garyojlai You still have not shown me an evidence, just false claims.

  • @johnadamsyt @johnadamsyt .... to the lunisolar calendar developed in Ancient times.

As for proof, 1) I'm Chinese and I'd like to say I know a bit about my history since my grandparents love to tell me. 2) if I could copy links, I would, but I'm sure if you google "history of Chinese New Year" you'd figure it out.

  • @garyojlai Of course your grandparents are gonna say that China invented this new yr, obviously because they are Chinese. When someone steals something, they don't say they stole it, they say it is originally theirs. The fact is, this new yr is celebrated by many different cultures, not just the Chinese, it is called "Lunar New Year".

  • @johnadamsyt ~sigh~ I'm not denying the fact that the new year is celebrated by many different cultures. The fact is that it's understood it's the Spring festival aka Chinese New Year aka Lunar New Year - all based off the lunisolar calendar developed by Ancient China. And the proof is in the pudding - look it up yourself on google, or go to your local library. It's written everywhere and is not a debated matter amongst historians.

  • @garyojlai It was not developed in China, the area where it originated from was not called China at the time. It only became part of China in the past few hundred yrs when the Han Chinese stole that land. It's like saying now that if England took over China, so we start calling this new yr, English New Year, Nonsense.

  • @johnadamsyt The area it "stole" was part of the China we know now. "China" in itself used to be made up of a hundred thousand different city states. It is still "China". And China has been around since 221BC when Emperor Qin first united all the city states, before it fell back into turmoil after his reign. The Han dynasty didn't reunite it till about 202BC. Anyway, if we all followed your logic, then every single custom in the modern world is "stolen".

  • @garyojlai Hey idiot, if you look at the area that Emperor Qin united covers middle, north and east of today's China, it did not include the south-south-east which is originally Yue people's land. It's like saying that is Mongolia now takes over the north of China, then that part of China has always really been Mongolian land. Will you accept that is it happened?

  • @johnadamsyt So your reasoning is that Chinese New Year was stolen from the Yue people? It's great that you know so much Chinese history - but regardless of how much knowledge you know, all you can tell me is that it's "stolen" because the country was united and customs were adopted. In the end, Chinese New Year forever was developed through China. Anyway, I once again reiterate what I stated before; if we all followed your logic then every single custom in the modern world is "stolen".

  • @garyojlai O.k Stolen is a fairly harsh word to use. But it is very offensive to other Asian people that also celebrate this new year, by calling it "Chinese New Year". The Chinese think they invented everything that came out of Asia. Let me ask you, is Tibetan culture Chinese also?

  • @johnadamsyt Other Asian nationalities have their own new year celebrations - I for one, know that my Vietnamese neighbours celebrate it somewhat differently. It's just the "Chinese" New Year celebrations have such profound presence cause of the population, I mean you see "Chinatown" globally in many countries, yet no "Vietnamese-town"..

Regarding Tibet - I will clearly say coming from HK, that their feeling of cultural and political independence from mainland China is completely mutual.

  • @garyojlai Since you come from HK, you are most likely 99% Yue by blood, you are not Chinese. The Yue people had their own culture and customs before the Chinese from the North invaded down south and took over the land calling it Chinese territory. Do your history and you will know, it's that you have been brainwashed by the Hans to think you are part of them.

  • @johnadamsyt Ahh jeez, this is a never-ending discussion - I am Chinese, no matter what you say. I don't give a rats about who invaded who, because that's not my problem. Countries invade other countries all the time - that's how it was back then, and honestly it's still the same now. I have no problem with my history, or the origins of my tribe. In Asian culture it doesn't matter which province you came from, your last name is your clan.

  • @garyojlai Ok what is you last name then? And what clan was it?

  • Comment removed

  • @johnadamsyt I am also not "brainwashed" by any Hans. Brainwashed implies that the history was never there and was changed so that I had no clue about it - if I did as much research as you I'm sure I would find some point in history where it's recorded in books or documents. I do not detest the unity of the provinces of mainland China. I also do not believe anything was stolen, customs get integrated and people move on. "Chinese New Year", no matter where its origins are, is modernly Chinese.

  • @garyojlai It's called Lunar New Year. You don't hear the west calling their new year on 31 Dec. German New Year because it originated in the area where Germany now owns, which was originally inhabited by other people.

  • @johnadamsyt I still can't believe I'm having this discussion over youtube. If the Germans want to call there's German New Year, go for it. There is a "Vietnamese" new year, and a "Japanese" new year, and a "Korean" new year and all the other new years. Every country celebrates it differently. The video in question is typically Chinese, dragons were very much a traditional Chinese symbol of power. If I had to say "new year" in my language, it'd literally just translate to new year.

  • @garyojlai Dragons were very much a symbol of power for many Asian cultures like the Vietnamese, they call their land the land of the Dragons, the Japanese also love Dragons, so do the Koreans. By the way, what language do you speak? Mandarin or Cantonese?

  • @johnadamsyt Mmm okay, I take that back. Let me rephrase - the Dragon Dance is very much a traditional Chinese custom, and you'd be a fool to disagree otherwise - it evolved in other countries later on. I speak Cantonese, my surname is "Lai" and traditionally that surname comes from the Canton (Guangdong) region of China.

  • @garyojlai Are you Han Chinese?

  • @johnadamsyt It is not a lunar year because the Chinese New Year is based off the movements of the sun and the moon. And since there is no "new year" as that, it is known as Chinese New Year. Get your facts straight before you say anything you dimshit.
