Her 8 wingmill turns are remarkable! It's not easy for any belly dancer to turn as beautifullly as her in that speed, but her ending doesn't win her any point. Maybe that's why she can't make it to first plance, because of her choreography, not because of her good techniques.

The problem as I see here, is, some problem in her choreography.

Basically she risked the music that was NOT for veil dance.

If you listen to the intro / beginning of the music carefully, it is a drum solo beat but she made way it tooooo soft.

She failed to give the judges a big surprise because she didn't mark the drum beats.

Then the next part of the music is quite ok for veil dance where she did a good job. It's not bad that she still won 3rd place.

Is it just me or does that electric violin playing in the music sound a lot like one of Vanessa Mae's works? The dancer did a good job on moving across stage and dancing, which added variety. She does what I do when I dance, which is to let your body become a representation of the song as in letting your body show each beat in some way.

I've watched all the footage from the 2009 competition and Wen Yu was definitely the most expressive in technique and audience engagement. I noticed that she placed 3rd in both Fusion and Traditional while the ladies from Singapore placed 1st and 2nd in both catagories. I believe this is held in Singapore and the judges are from Singapore. So maybe a little bias going on.
