  • This is the Italian version of Taps, called "Il Silenzio". I heard something very similar to this in Boy Scouts called Spanish Taps.

  • Look at the shotgun In the background

  • Love this version. Brings to my eye. To all my fsllem commrads. Hooah........PJW

  • Just imagine what she'll play like in 10 years...

  • @boromir408 My grandfather died recently and taps was played. I see where you are coming from but it started of as a wartime hymn for soldiers to commemerate their fallen friends and it would be randitioned all the time for a kind of a personal way to remember a friend or family member. As long as the song remains positive and strong, it is fine to do rendition of it. Though sad, the hymn is meant to be personalized for any family member/friend/patriotism. I am personally proud of this girl for

  • absolutely horrible idc if its a rendition it has a great military meaning and shouldn't be used as show piece its the last song family members hear before laying their loved ones to rest who died in a war far away

  • I wish I could have played this well when I was that young.

  • It sounds like something from a western movie, Ennio Morricone style. Nice.

  • all you dislkes you hate soldiers you guys need to die they fight for us now take the dislike off and put like on brats hope you go to hell if you dislike.

  • @8710pens Maybe people clicked TD because it sounds wrong, not the customary song, and anyway the US military isn't "fighting for us", they are fighting for ZOG.

  • *FART* bbbrreewwwppprrttt

  • i'm not halfway through the video but i am almost in tears

  • LOVE THIS

  • @swimfly2012 I'm a trumpet player too but that was a high C.

  • How old is she?

  • i thought she was amzing for her age and i got to say it was beutiful

  • way to not have played a true taps....

  • Obviously it is not Taps as many have stated. For you veterans or families of such who want Taps played at a funeral, the military does not have the buglers to do this. Instead they have an electronic insert in the horn that plays Taps electronically while someone in the honor guard stands there and pretends to play. Sad, but true. There have been many times when the "ceremonial bugle" has malfunctioned too. Go to the Bugles Across America website to request a live bugler.

  • @doobster2010 True, that often "Taps" is performed from a recording. But be sure, not always. There are still many fine buglers that still perform this honored duty live.

  • What a wonderful performance! I'm not familiar with II Silenzio, but of course I am with Taps--that's what caught my attention. Since it's not Taps, I see nothing irreverent about this.

  • I just loved it.Being long you have alot of time to think, reflect and be grateful.Wonderfully done

  • Ya...uh she deffinatley did not play that last high note..I am a trumpet player myself and knows when someone is playing a high "C" or not. It was the other trumpets

  • @swimfly2012 bullshit she did play that note n im a trumpet player to n u should be claping for someone better than u

  • If you whiny assed crybabies who know jack crap would you think maybe the title is incorrect! The song isACTUALLY titled " II Silenzio" an Italian pop musical piece written in 1965 by Nini Rossoand... You who think she's bad get up there and do it your self and better! The director had no problem with her rendition and neither did like 500 or so people who are in the audience! Those who can't, complain the most! She's still a CHILD! DO BETTER!

  • Its a rendition meaning songs put together, jeez just leave her alone she did amazing

  • She screwed that up big time. Thats not TAPS, not even close. This was not the tune they played at the flag draped coffins I been at. Do we even have to ruin this song. To call it TAPS is in poor taste. Maybe this is the Scotts Tattoo version ? If so, then the name is not TAPS.

  • Comment removed

  • The tune is actually a variation of an earlier bugle call known as the Scott Tattoo \which was used in the U.S. from 1835 until 1860.

  • THis isnt taps you dumbasses... this is the song where taps comes from...

  • i really dont know what to say to the ppl that dislikes this?? your so dame disrespectful!

  • Im in AfJROTC and I know that is wrong she needed to hold each note longer

  • To Tbarnz9: You stated that as a player this girl is "LESS THAN DECENT"?!! THAT is the most obsurd thing I've EVER heard (or read) What makes more sence and is completely truthful and accutely accurate, is that YOU are less than stupid!!

  • the taps song that u are playing is great i played it at my church and they all loved it so i hope to see u again and look and see if miss lisa sent u that letter ok well see u soon baby girl love u

  • The taps is all wrong!!! I was in the Army!!!

  • @Director347 So was I!!! 7 1/2 years active duty. Did 3 years Navy reserves after that. Currently in my 13th year of Air Force reserves. Open up your ears and listen! Whichever came first, it's more than clear that one inspired the other! It's a beautiful piece nonetheless, and this young lady is very talented despite all you "haters" out there! I challenge anyone of you to stand up in front of a crowd that large and just tell them your name and where you're from! It ain't easy.

  • @Director347 The version of taps played in the US Military is actually an adaptation from an original piece of music.

  • Okay I never served in the war neither did my father, but honestly? This is like taking the NATIONAL ANTHEM and playing it differently. Okay yes you went up there and played in front of people but really? Gosh I'm not mad at you, your parents should be more educated

  • @Afallon31 "Taking the NATIONAL ANTHEM and playing it differently"? What the hell does that mean??? I'm a veteran of Desert Storm. First time I "really" heard "Taps" was at the memorial service for my roommate who died of a brain anurism a few weeks before we shipped out. Just got back from a recent deployment in the middle east. Just lost a civilian colleague to cancer yesterday. I wanted to post this in her memory. Then I see all these negative comments. Have you ever "went up there and..."?

  • you are joke

  • that was so disrespectful dont ever that song again being a former air force serviceman you are a disgrace

  • um, great that she got up there in front of everyone, but honestly, less than decent as a player

  • It is called " Il Silenzio " it is an Italian instrumental piece written in 1965 by trumpet player Nini Rosso

  • Beautiful!

  • I believe this is the orginal tune, "taps" is a result of a shortened version of it, either way both versions bring a tear to my eyes, beautiful job

  • Ist das nicht Il Silenzio?

  • Daß,ist mein Lied wenn ich einmal gehen sollte....nur schön....

    glg Holger

  • daß,ist mein Lied wenn ich einmal gehen sollte....nur schön....

    glg Holger

  • Was that Andre rieu at the start?

  • unbelievably beautiful rendition of taps... what a lovely talent she possesses. thank you for the post!

  • U guys are all dumbasses it is taps just the full version ( this ) is called whatever it said

  • Absolutely beautiful brought tears to my eyes

  • Taps is played by a bugle not a trumpet.

  • Although this is Il Silencio, this is also well known as the "Trumpeter's Serenade"

  • As I said I do care about the fallen however I don't believe that she should have changed the tune to a military song and I believe it was sort of disrespectful of he to do so....

  • @beekid1231 actually this song isnt taps whoever posted this video was wrong. its a song called II Silencio. look it up if u dont believe me :)

  • im 11 and i can play this ^.^

  • @XxXBVBArmyForeverXxX well then post a video proving it

  • @NewToTheLyte two things 1: I dont have a webcam and 2: all of my family friends, neighbors, and my dad is in the military even my grandparents so i wanted to learn and i did so im not lieing

  • How many of you critics can play that well now let alone at 13??? I guess it's true that those who can't criticize.

  • This is not Taps. It is "Il Silencio". A you watch the video, it even comes up on the screen as the title as to what she is playing...sorry.

  • IMO her sound quality is absolutely terrible.

  • @masterdz522 I think it's perfect.

  • @beekid1231 hey my family friend is in the military and he is jewish

  • Qu'une enfant joue cela, ca donne les larmes aux yeux!!! ='(

  • God, that vibrato sounds awful XD

  • lol, the video even says that it isnt taps.

  • that just gave me instant cold chillss.

  • brought tears to my eyes...

  • Where to start?

To all you trumpet "experts" out there, it's spelled "embouchure."

Why do people think they're so smart because they think something real is fake?

This is in no way a precursor to Taps, a bugle call. Bugles have no valves, which the embellishments in this solo require.

She has an incredibly mature sound for her age, and has already proven she's done more than people who have time going around the internet looking for musicians to trash talk.

"I used to play" doesn't count.

  • what do you mean Incredirocks?

  • Wow, that looks so fake.

  • While not "Taps," (see above) it is hauntingly beautiful and so well played! I, too, as a Viet Nam-era vet would be honored to have this played at my funeral. I think that Gen. Daniel Butterfield, credited with composing "Taps," would've like it. After all, he took his tune from a Fr*nch bugle call that'd fallen into disuse.

  • This is so beautifully done.

  • Il Silenzio (Silence in English) is an Italian pop music instrumental piece, with a small part of spoken Italian lyrics, notable for its trumpet theme. It was written in 1965 by trumpet player Nini Rosso and Guglielmo Brezza[1], its thematic melody being an extension of the bugle military call for taps. It has become a worldwide instrumental standard, which has sold around 10 million copies.[

  • @BoomMiniNuke Taps was Excerted from a classical piece learn Music! before you speak. Wasssname has it Correct, This whole Piece is Il Silencio. and the Taps is a part of the piece

  • THUMBS UP IF LoneLouie SHOULD RENAME THE TITLE.

  • A couple of years old but worth listening to...

  • Not hating on her, but I don't understand how people can play with an embouchure that is that far off to the side.

  • @wannaplaytrmptjmu I used to play cornet, and because I had braces, my embouchure was pushed to the side like this girl's. My teacher was always trying to get me to correct it, but it was natural for me to play that way, and I never had any problems. To each their own. x

  • @PSGProductions271 I mean, I understand it that each person plays differently, but it just different. The way I look at it is that the center gives you the most support around the mouthpiece when you play. I guess it's just that I've always had 'normal' embouchure.

  • Sorry thats not bad but its definitely not taps and its a disgrace to call it taps

  • @BoomMiniNuke get off your high horse, it was a mistake. Leave it be.

  • She faked it

  • close, but please rename it

  • close

  • It is not TAPS it is however a very good rendition of Il Silencio.

  • Very well done, but it is not TAPS. Kind of like when a rock singer tries, and fails, at singing the National Anthem.

  • it' s very nice but it's NOT taps, the goofball is the one who posted the title without looking into it. but,it is nice!

  • no dough a talented young lady and a beautiful piece but I am a stickler for tradition and while this is very beautiful it is not taps . that being said I was still none the lest moved by her playing.

  • beautfiul performance by a very talented and beautiful young lady!

  • @ "wosssname" do your homewark jackass. A soldier has fallen. Their rifle and battle cry now silent. A nation of many we are. We all know noodles came from China so go f-yourselves to wossname and every other high and mighty motherfer who gave that dickwad a thumbs up.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Clearly the composition echoes "Taps." It follows the same pattern and whole phrases are the same. So - why is this a big deal? People do that all the time. I suppose the technically correct title would be "Il Silencio (Variation on 'Taps')" or some such. So what? It's pretty.

And to tall the "I'm a trumpet player" experts out there who are so sure she's not playing ... I'm a trumpet player too. The mouthpiece/breathing timing is spot-on. I say she's playing it.

  • Comment removed

  • yes, just appreciate a lovely talented girl and forget being petty. Esp the "military guy" and the one who said she is faking. what negative people. IT is a great piece to listen to and she does a great job. I couldn't ever do it but I can appreciate it. why can't we all??

  • this isnt taps..

  • Can you all just enjoy the damn song? Who cares if it is TAPS or not. Im in the Navy and I would still have this song performed at my burial whether or not it is TAPS. Congrats to her on being talented, and all the rest of you shut the hell up and enjoy it.

  • @raker2007 Very well said. Thank you!

  • @lxolxo7 No problem. I just wish people would enjoy the music and not fight over what the song actually is. She has a lot more courage than most to go up there and do something like that. I know I can't play the trumpet like she can haha. But I give her the best of wishes and luck on her career if she chooses to play as a career. :)

  • IL SILENZIO was written by an Italian musician called Nini Rosso in the 1960's! Taps was written and performed in the middle of the 19th century! (1850-1860's) This version is very touching and close to the original!

  • i hope you know that she is not playing it. i am a trumpet player and the embocher she is using would just be air

  • this isnt taps, but y does taps sound so much like it?

  • she is good

  • Taps or not, I'd be doin' my pants worrying about messing up. Love it!

  • Once again, as a Military retiree, I believe this would be appropriate to be played at my funeral. Her grasp of the music is astonishing!!

  • @jsshely I'm military and when I was younger I was in the band. This is not impressive by any means. It's typical that people are capable of this level of ability at that age if they are any good at their particular instrument. No offense to her or your opinion.

  • @armyaviationproud Im assuming you are in the army, and in avaiation, i seriouslt hope that you rot in hell. How dare you inslut this girl, it take serious courage to play in front of a huge crowd such as the one she played for. you sir/ma'm are ingornat and should be keehauled!

  • il silencio. a girl that young in my opinion, shouldnt play taps, a peice of music thats history and significance are not fully understood.

  • Comment removed

  • this doesnt sound like taps

  • @lilaznshorty711 Because it ain't Taps, it's Il Silencio

  • Her tone is shit lol

  • What a set of lungs this girl must have !

  • A very talented young lady indeed; I'm duly impressed!

  • So beautifully done!

  • It is remarkable that whoever composed Il Silencio used such similar musical phraseology to the original 'taps'.

However, this is an incredibly beautiful performance of an incredibly beautiful piece of music. I can listen to it over and over, and each time marvel at it's beauty.

  • I think her embachure is strange (like Kenny G) and I think she is cute..... SHOULD I DISLIKE OR LIKE

  • Call it what you wish this girl is fantastic

  • that is deff not taps

  • This is not Taps. This is Il Silencio.

  • What a talented lass, fantastic, wish I was there

  • Wow! Tears in my eyes

  • I am a trumpet player myself, and this girl has an amazing tone quality. Even though it is not the traditional taps, this is very beautiful. She is very talented.

  • Although I believe the the young lady is very talented performer, the true meaning of "Taps" isoat.

  • What sort of arsehole would give a thumbs down?

You are nasty dogs! How dare you rate this 14 year old with a thumbs down:(

  • While it is a beautiful song, it's not Taps at all. It's "Silenzio" originally written and performed by Nini Rosso.

  • @CRQ5508 People's short attention span is what has them think of Taps. They can't be trully blamed. After all 'Il Silenzio' was written as an extension of call for taps.

Either way... those notes make my heart ache every time I hear them.

  • She done great!

  • this girl is amazing

  • Call it whatever you want to that young lady did a perfect job

    God bless her

  • As a retiree, I can honestly say that I would be proud to have this played at my funeral.

What a beautiful job, and an amazing talent.

  • @MrBdowning may i know what is you rank sir :)

  • Great performance from a rising star! There is more on her a

  • Beautiful! What a talent.

  • This isn't Taps. It's Il Silencio, written by an Italian years and years ago. Google it.

  • @wosssname kinda sounds a little like taps at first i wondered why she kept missing the second note

  • @wosssname It is Il Silencio... but Il Silencio is based off of Taps.

  • @wosssname its both

  • @wosssname good. cuz i was about to say if this is taps this is, i think, a pretty big slap in the face for the fallen vets… Taps isn't a song u "pretty up". u dont do echo Taps, or this. its a bugle call that is meant to be played at a somber time. when a veteran of the United States Military has fallen. not for some concert by a 14 year old girl. my teacher would be in such an uproar…he is a respected military vet.

  • Whether it's the long original version of TAPS or not, it's one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. Yes, our military has it's short version, which is also heart wrenching and indicative of the loses our military must bear.. Sit back, relax and enjoy this one..

Viet Nam vet.. LZ English, Bong Son valley 1966 - 1967

  • @Lone Louie. How does one get away with posting a copyrighted musical performance, AND giving it the wrong name. "Il Silencio" is NOT taps and never was.

Taps takes about 1 minute to play. This took nearly 5 minutes. She plays it well, and is to be admired. You, on the other hand, ....

  • This is not "Taps", nor is it "Last Post" from which Taps was derived. It is an Italian tune called "Il Silencio" (The Silence). Similar to Taps, but quite different if you compare the two.

  • As I read all of theese comments, i had to ask myself wgy someone would show so much hatred toward a girl, honoring soldiers her way best seen fit, I have a ministry and I do not think any self respecting service man, soldier, vetern,or any other military man in my ministry would show as much hatred as some of the men on here claiming to be soldiers have, God Bless ya'll!

  • I played this on the tuba once in the 8th grade. it was kinda not really sounded good because the tuba is some octoves down but i made people cry in the stand. It warmed me up becasue i thought of all of soldiers and my grandfathers who died for us to be doing this today.

  • Beautiful !!

    swe stefan grenholm 20011-01-11

  • I have been involved with the forces for the last 36 years and i have never heard anything so heart rendering in my life

    so beautiful

  • @Lofty9925 U were in vietnam war?

  • This is not the real Taps. It is a rendition that is called Il Silenzio. This song is played so well though. Truly amazing.

  • This is pretty moving. However, it isn't the American military version of TAPS, which is a separately composed tune believed to have been written during the U. S. Civil War by a U. S. Army officer. The tune in this video is Il Silencio, a similar sounding, but different tune. TAPS, especially when played by two buglers in echo fashion at an actual funeral, is extremely moving. I've never seen a dry eye among those in attendance at a military funeral where TAPS is properly performed.

  • Fantastic i cant think of a better vrsion

  • This is Not Taps in any way shape or form, while it sounds similar in some places, it is actually 'Il Silencio'

  • Full Version of Taps. Outstanding Job !

  • that is the worst and most fake taps i have ever herd, i could do real and better taps than her and yes i am a trumpeter

  • @soxfan2231 back off man. you go girl!!!!

  • I started playing trumpet in 6th grade and I don't think I ever played this beautifully! It isn't exactly our rendition of Taps as it is written but it is none the less beautiful!!! Oh, and I am 51 now and a year ago I was just about playing as well as I ever had and still couldn't do what she is doing in front of all of these people! She has very clear tone and isn't afraid to improvise either. And that last note is hard to hit by any trumpeter who hasn't been playing for several years!!

  • @survivrs IM just playing trumpet now in 6th grade and i wonder if i will ever be this good. that would be great

  • @MichaelGuerriero Trust me, keep up your practicing, do what your instructor says, be in every part of band you can be, strive for 1st chair and yes, you will be that good!!! Maybe not yet, but you are just starting out so don't compare yourself to someone who has been playing longer than you. I believe you can do it!!!! Never quit on your music, you will find that it is something you will appreciate for the rest of your life. I would like to start practicing again this year myself!

  • @survivrs Thank u very much

  • To all the confused people out there. I am a former military bugler and current Police Honor Guard Bugler. This is not TAPS. This is "Il Silencio" by Italian Nini Rossi. It sounds similar, but other than that, there is no connection. This young lady is playing this at a concert by Andre Rieu (The Flying Dutchman). I might add that This young lady is an amazing trumpeter.

  • @robthefiveo you are my hero then

  • done so beautifully by a little girl even though it isn't taps

  • THIS IS NOT TAPS. She is playing a piece called il Silencio: 1965 Italy (Nini Rosso&Guglielmo Brezza),

  • yea this isnt taps

  • The version being played here is not TAPS. It is a song called Il Silenzio or The Silence. She did a great job on it. At this speed it tears at the heartstrings. very nice

  • Hey genious critics if you would actually pay attention, she plays full version of taps that was originally called Last Post written in 1801 and only in 1862 it was shortened to the current version we hear on bases daily.

  • wow was that kelsey grammer at 24 second lol

  • what are the notes

  • If it's so easy people like to see you guys play in front of all those people and play that good she good!!!

  • She has incredible tone, and very good vibrato control. That is what is most impressive.

  • this is so easy to play. and whoever posted this vid... This is not taps fool

  • Einfach nur super mehr geht nicht,,,,,!!!

  • was it just me or did you guys see when the guy winked at her 2

  • Call it what you wish it is fantastic and i wish i could play it.
