very very true but its hard to figure stuff like this out by ear. can u do it

  • @MrGergen not perfectly but with some practice you can pretty much get the song and of course I help myself with tabs when I am stuck, you should try.... it helps you a lot to improvise and compose music on guitar....

  • @MrDonbago

very good point. the only thing ive been able to succesfully do by ear is give a bass line to chords on stand by me

  • OMG what incredible photos! And how amazing to hear something from Zep that I've never heard before. I wish the song was longer, but thank you for posting!

  • I bet Robert was just as blown away by Jimmy page playing just as much Jimmy himself was blown away by Robert Vocal Range.

  • @brazwen They were all blown away by bonzo's ability to bang the skins. Then john paul showed up but by that time they didn't really give to fucks about the bass. cuz bonzo was fucking nuts.

  • @DABIRDMANPOWWOW actually bonham was the last one to join the band

  • @Stiletto92 Yes, but they had seen him previously and he was unsure on joining the band.

  • sugar mama, great song, originally written by Sonny Boy Williamson circa 1937.

Zeppelin are heavy influenced by early African American Blues music.

  • @pachacutti Perfectly said.....and that is a wonderful influence to have, great songs reborn and recaptured!

  • looks like richard cole checkin out bonhams crotch rocket

  • I love this song! It's so awesome!

  • anywhere that i can download this?

  • seems to me we could easily have another rarities collection like 'coda'...maybe we have to wait till the band is dead and gone....hopefully not that long.

  • what's the picture at :15?

  • At 0:15 !?

Its Plant holding a monkey and a guitar.

    Maybe Les Paul model.

  • @CODA1982 Jimmy is showing the monkey the Les Paul.

  • @CODA1982 Monkey's made by Les Paul ?

  • they should have released this

  • Is this an original? They should have used it. Aweome song.

  • there's an old tyme country-blues song called Sugar Mama it doesn't sound like this but the riff I guess sorta follows part of it.

  • not original, but they added a lot of original material to this song, but it is still a cover...

  • ALL HAIL YOUR OVERLOHOHOHDSS

on they sweep with threshing oar...the only goal will be the western shore

    LOL I love the ZEPPELIN

  • Wheres the rest!!???!!!

  • sounds great!

  • rar

  • interestingm never heard this before. you can hear the orgins of "celebration day" here...

  • This is great i ve listened to it about 100 times! O gosh Zepp is havin sex with my brain XD !! i like all the fuzzyness it makes it sound cool. I like when it sounds old. my mom fefuses to by Led Zeppelin remasterd just because its remasterd!!!

  • They have sex with my brain too!!!! ^-^

  • dude, it's like led zeppelin is having sex with my brain

  • cant say better. agree 1000000000000 times

  • thats the best way to describe any song man rock on !

  • y didnt they use this song?

  • this a great song whos the little kid in the beginning though?

  • I think that's a young Jimmy Page, not certain though.

  • thats not Pagey

  • definetly is, look up james page

  • in a 1977 interview he said that he got his first guitar when he was around 14, and it was an imitation strat. Doesn't even look like him

  • Yes but he only said, when he was 14 he got his first electric guitar. Before he got the first, his parents had an old spanish guitar at home.

I read it in the book Led zeppelin: talking..

And when you google:Young Jimmy page you will find that picture, but on the internet are many fakes..

  • @Lavall9000 when they moved into a new house there was a guitar left behind

  • Its page.

  • Robert Plant and John Bonham playing guitar!

  • that monkey is cute

  • I've got this song in a bootleg called "ALTERNATIVE CODA"

  • Hey CODA1982, please tell, where do you find or get this?

  • No where. Was never released!

  • so than how did he get it on youtube?

  • It's a bootleg recording. Ever heard of those? You won't find this song on any officially released album. Led Zeppelin recorded other songs from 1968 through 1975 and Jimmy decided not to release them for personal reasons. One song was called "Fire" and a song called "The Swan Song" they never released. There are songs in the Vault that only Led Zeppelin and a few others know that exist. Let's hope Jimmy softens up soon and decides to GIVE US THESE SONGS on a new LIVE ALBUM with OUTTAKES.

  • Yeah i no about the bootleg recordings. Ive heard swan song but ive never heard fire. What i was wondering was where he gets the bootleg albums

  • Bootlegs are illegal recordings by fans. Led Zeppelin may have recorded this and somehow it found its way out into someone's hands. Nonetheless, it's a poor recording. Jimmy and the others probably decided not to release it because of it's repetitory chorus. Face it, it's not a sophisticated song, and we know that's what sets Zeppelin apart from MANY other bands. Zeppelin is not a SIMPLE SIMON band like The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, among others.

  • I like it. its no more repetative than the crunge. Its not as good as many of their ither songs, sure. That doesnt make it bad.

  • I have a sh!tload of zep bootlegs on LP from my youth (destroyer, for badge holders only, in the light, blueberry hill, the list goes on and on). There was a record store near me that specialized in illegal bootlegs. I'm sure if you surf hard enough you can find some

  • jdg62269, The song "Swan Song" actually emerged years later as "Midnight Moonlight", with Pages post LZ band The Firm with Paul Rogers on vocals. Wasnt a bad song, but I think if it was recorded propely with LZ, it would have been awesome!! Im sure you can find Midnight Moonlight on youtube.

  • Speaking of Swan Song, I've heard the original tapes that Jimmy created while he was still in Zeppelin. There are several bootlegs circulating where you can here him coming up with the song that was eventually to become Midnight Moonlight. I like the Firm's version, but I'm sure Zeppelin's take on it would have blown that out of the water. It's a shame they never got around to it.

  • That was pretty awesome! I wish they had released it on one of their studio albums. =D

  • cathy!"

  • i thought it was good

  • naah, pretty ropey, really

  • that was pretty intense.

  • I heard this on a Zeppelin website years ago. I think the site took it down though.

  • so what album is this from? Coda?

  • it was never released. It might be on a bootleg?

  • aaw look at the monkey...why does he have a monkey?

  • Why haven't they officially release this song?

It sounds great on youtube but these kind of jams were meant to be heard amplified in a home stero, either with speakers or earphones.

  • bonzo on guitar? what the....

  • haha

  • atreideslegend... you're kidding, right?

  • plant...monkey...?

  • sounds like the Crunge.

  • plant is tooooo cool with that monkey!!

  • If they put in a bit more work this could be a really awesome track, but like you can hear it here, it isn't really substantial. Shame though, cuz the music is awesome.

  • Plant had a monkey wtf? This has a great riff too!

  • I like this song. They could have put this on one of their later albums to bring back their "spontaneous blues." I like that guitar part in the background that sounds kinda weird but cool.

  • zep could have recorded themselves pissing in a bucket and it would have sounded awesome. sold a million copy's of it to..

  • Agreed!

  • :37 is definetly bonzo

  • thanks for the track

  • It just shows that even an unused track by Zeppelin is amazing.

  • 1st pic is the best!!=)

  • goodamn this song rocks, why didnt they do anything with it?

  • I think it was because it wasn't as substantial as the rest of their stuff.

  • its bloody Bonzo ive got pictures of it in a magazine it was the Roy Harper Valentine gig at the rainbow theatre. Harper , Bonham [acoustic guitar], Page [lead guitar], Keith moon [on drums], and Ronnie lane

  • this is sooooo awesome, where'd u get this track from?????

  • I can see why this was never released...It's not the greatest song I've heard. However, It should be released on a box set of rare material.

  • Has this song ever been released?

  • no thats Bonzo with the Guitar...look at the nose...compare the 2...Page wore a beard but nothing like that..im willing to bet my family on it! Bonzo did for the most part write Kashmir.. indeed thats true

  • is that Bonzo with a guitar 00:37?

  • Yeah. He wrote the guitar riff for Kashmir.

  • no wrong havent you ever seen jimy page with a breard on the led zeppelin dvd main menu theres jimmy page playing dazed and confused on black and white

  • I honestly don't think that's anyone in Led Zeppelin. Maybe an early Peter Grant?

  • Dude, it is clearly Bonzo.

  • It's definitely Bonham. He looked like that during a few phases a Zeppelin.

  • who's on the picture at 00:05?

  • Its little Jimmy Page at 00:05

  • NO it's not! It's Mitch Mitchel.

It's the very 1st photo in his book titled "Inside the Experience"

Send me your email ..I'll show you.

  • I've heard this before I think. Awesome song. Definately a Zeppelin 1 or Zeppelin 2 outtake.

  • Now that's the kind of rocking I love to hear. Yes, that does swing for sure. Love it.

  • great track.lots of swing.need to hear the complete thing.never heard it before.thanx

  • 00:52 is that RObert?

  • I think yes, this is Robert voice.

He has the same voice as on the first album or the complete early days....

    But its up to you

  • no i meant in the pic

  • No from 00:46 til 00:54 its Jimmy Page skoing a cigarret. After that comes Bonzo

  • Great stuff, I never heard that one b4. Rare pictures too. Thanks!!

  • Woo Led Zeppelin :-)!!!!!!!
