Black men don't go to church because they are over taxed. Tithing is yet another tax, and Sunday service takes up half the day. The Church is full of nosy, and envious busy bodies. For most preachers the delivery takes precedence over the message, and discussion of our collective struggle as a people is silenced for a message of indivdual salvation. Black men are more direct in confronting both issues than women. It is the stark reality of being a Black man in America.

When I take my kids to football practice almost 80% of the parents there are black females, basketball practice almost 80% black females there with their children, school events almost 75 to 80% black female mothers, even at the barbershop I see more black mothers there than fathers. These statements are only an observation of some of the social dynamics that occur in any group. Christianity and the local church is much more than "racial" and cultural issues. It does have alot to do with how many black churches are structured. There is a lack of leadership skills, organization, and discipline; but there is an over abundance of pride, sects, and emotion.
Men only become men by learning from another man. Christian men become so by learning from a Christian man.

Black men don't go to church because they are over taxed. Tithing is yet another tax, and Sunday service takes up half the day. The Church is full of nosy, and envious busy bodies. For most preachers the delivery takes precedence over the message, and discussion of our collective struggle as a people is silenced for a message of indivdual salvation. Black men are more direct in confronting both issues than women. It is the stark reality of being a Black man in America.

When I take my kids to football practice almost 80% of the parents there are black females, basketball practice almost 80% black females there with their children, school events almost 75 to 80% black female mothers, even at the barbershop I see more black mothers there than fathers. This video mostly discusses why married dominant black men don't attend church. He uses the words leadership, dominant male, married, husband, and family several times.

If my wife failed to understand that, she would not be doing the will of God and not following his word. People should come to church to worship God, not the pastor. These statements are only an observation of some of the social dynamics that occur in any group. Christianity and the local church is much more than "racial" and cultural issues. It does have alot to do with how many black churches are structured. There is a lack of leadership skills, organization, and discipline; but there is an over abundance of pride, sects, and emotion.

I found this interesting...and couldn't help but wonder if it might not explain the ancient tradition of separating males and females for the purposes of teaching and preaching. Even today, Muslims, Some Orthodox Jews, even some Orthodox Christians keep to this tradition.
My first question was--how do the men (if they're not fellowshipping, or attending a church) find male mentorship??? Mentorship is so important! I've seen a couple of churches institute a "men's prayer" early Saturdays..

By going to work and paying bills many men fill they have done all that is need but there is more required.
