actually the c 141 is being replaced by c 17 there is no way on heck that the c 17 is replacing the c5. why? thec5 isway larger in fact there still producing the c5 btw great vid
The last new airframe for the C-5 rolled off the assembly line in Apri 1989.
I believe you are including the C-5M (M for Modernization) which is an upgrade program to existing C-5's. Both are outstanding heavy lifters, each with unique capabilities.
There are over 100 C-5's currently in service at about half dozen AFB's. The C-5 will continue to provide heavy lift capabilities to the USAF for some time to come.
I racked up 6981.5 hours as a C-5 FE out at Travis. I got my money's worth, believe me!.
