  • This movie really hits me. It just one of those. movies that is so raw and brutally honest.

  • hey sport hows everything in the pimp business?

  • Travis was going to be an assassin then he took a bullet to the neck.

  • funny how New York has changed in thirty five years.

  • @benkata Yeah, I wonder where all the junkies, pimps and whores went. I miss them.

  • Bob - SLC Punk

  • What the hell... you skipped the great part where the camera goes along the ceiling.

  • mmmm.. makes me wanna stand up 2 all the scum in the world LMAO

  • lol the guy at 2:30.. i find it funny that he gets really close, only to shoot him in the shoulder, a perfect headshot missed

  • @BloodyandEnchained with a shot in the head, he becomes a murder... while shooting the arms he can neutralize the other guy... that's why

  • Did he die.

  • @darthrevan6 nope.avi

  • @darthrevan6 watch the movie.

  • Must... Kill... Ronald Regan...

  • awesome ending

  • A bullet to the neck only mildly irritates Travis

  • And nooooow a sequel's supposedly coming out. Bad times indeed when the majesty of Taxi Driver is considered not enough by itself that we have to make a sequel. Still, I'll reserve judgement until I actually see it.

  • after this scene it is often debated, did travis Bickle die?

  • @TheReas93

There's a scene afterwards showing how Iris' Parents are grateful for re-uniting her with them, and we're shown various newspaper clippings that give a strong impression that he has been (or is being) idolized by the public for his ultimately cleansing act. In his Martyrdom to cleanse the world, he sends a young girl home to her parents - freeing her from her pimps grasp.

Answer your question? Maybe it's a scene on the DVD and not in the theatrical release.

    Correct me if i'm wrong.

  • @Kyle6155

okay, cool. I get it. i did see that scene, and it does make morse sense, him being a martyr. meaning, he did die.

  • 2:32, why would he shoot him in the arm and not the head?

  • @ethanNESfanboy117 Quiet, you! With your fancy logic.

  • I did not want a mohawk until I saw this movie

  • my favorite deniro flim.. and thats saying something

  • Travis takes that bullet in the neck like a boss.

  • @CiaranFallon

i called my dog boss, its cool as,will rip anything

  • I love the American Dad episode of this lol

  • Awesome movie by one of the greatest directors of all time!

  • That is an incredible skull cap on DeNiro. He was shooting The Last Tycoon after this so they couldn't shave his head for the mohawk.

  • 1:38 for the action

  • Awesome scene!!! It´s also funny that the guy just shot him in his shoulder or don´t it? :P

  • yaeh and deniro gone down hill with shitty films like meet the fokkers yuk

  • I always complain how movies have shitty endings nowadays. Directors need to take a lesson from Scorsese. He's the KRS-One of cinema.

  • This was, and still is, a phenomenal movie.

  • shut your mouth [bail96 ] you wasnt even born when this movie came out . in fact you still live at home with your parents and still play x box in your bed room and are not allowed to take a girl upstairs. what do you know about de niro .......nothing your ...just a student doing your o levels still

  • @lz127graf testify!!!

  • no way could you survive a shot to the jugular vein near the neck . blood would pour out at an alarming rate . you would be dead before a ambulance could arrive on the scene . in fact blood would be spurting out the wound like a burst water main . however a head shot you can still live longer waiting for the medical services to arrive. ...... but a neck vein wound is fatal at times

  • @lz127graf This movie is from 1976,just enjoy the Robert DeNiro's badass character

  • I used to think Robert De Niro never was young untill i watched this. Seriously.

  • @TheMrFelipe lol me too. My stepfather had this on when I was 14 or something. I was like damn he looks young as hell. :)

  • My girlfriend fell asleep while watching this. I dumped her.

  • @doctorKilljoy i know a couple girls that dont really get this movie either

  • @doctorKilljoy

i don`t mean to be sexist or anything but most of the girls i know whouldn`t get this movie unless The protagonist gets married at the end of the movie

    XD

  • @doctorKilljoy HAHAHAHA XD

  • @doctorKilljoy Should've shot her hand off.

  • @doctorKilljoy lol... that's a no-no (falling asleep, that is.)

  • @doctorKilljoy You should have shaved your head and started stalking her afterward.

  • @doctorKilljoy Now you are forever alone.

  • @doctorKilljoy

    Shut up.

  • Kick to the balls, it was a half-hearted flick to the side of the leg.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know why but this scene always makes me laugh as well as shocks whenever I see it, it must be genuine tragi-comedy.

  • better do what you gotta do before the shock wears off

  • 2:31 It's never made sense to me.

Let's say you're a mafioso, you've got a gun, you know how to use it, and you manage to get the drop on a psycho going on a killing spree in the hallway. Wouldn't you want to aim for his head rather than his fucking shoulder?

That guy obviously failed at life.

  • @n11n12 I think it's more about what worked in a cinematic sense. There are things that you have to live with in films even though they don't always depict real life, otherwise every movie in the world would suck.

  • he took a kick to the balls without even flinching ... thts bad acting

  • why did he have a mohawk

  • @comedybenj from wikipedia:

This detail was suggested by actor Victor Magnotta, a friend of Scorsese's who had a small role as a Secret Service agent and who had served in Vietnam. Scorsese later noted, "Magnotta had talked about certain types of soldiers going into the jungle. They cut their hair in a certain way; looked like a mohawk ... and you knew that was a special situation, a commando kind of situation, and people gave them wide berths ... we thought it was a good idea."

  • @chunkymilk oh ok

  • That reminds me, I have to return some video tapes...

  • how did De Niro survived a gunshot to the neck?

  • @xEmbrac3 It's only 'make-believe'!

  • Amazing how he can survive a gunshot to the neck and arm and still stand.

  • @baggedyman Happens all the time.

  • I doubt that he had to save Iris at all. She was just a bitch who knew very well what she was doing and she liked it. No such stuff like "the poor misguided child, etc".

Just look at 03:17 : "Don`t shoot him". She cared more for the client than for Travis ??

And even if we accept that she went home after that - what`s the guarantee that in a couple of months she won`t be "back in the business"? Such girls never change : "why should study or work when my ass is my gold mine".

  • @tyzhen Iris HATED what she was doing, and she really was a lost child who knew deep down that she was being used. Watch some of her other scenes; when she and Sport are alone in her room, Sport is laying on the comforting sleazebag pimp lines to keep her there. When she and Travis are eating together and he's trying to convince her Sport's a bad person, you can see her waver in her conviction that he's not. She begged Travis not to shoot the guy because she didn't want to see it.

  • One of my top-10movies, but I am pissed off by the way in which an ex-marine (!) can`t kill quick and neat these men.

    - the pimp was left alive, instead of being finished with one more shot in the head right after he was gunned down at doorstep.

    - the .44 shot took the hand of the old bum instead of blowing his brain to Buenos Aires. So both the pimp and the old bum returned later and made problems.

-a whole clip (!) for the third guy and he was still standing and firing ?!

  • @tyzhen It is implied and some viewers think that Travis was lying about his service.

  • I've never seen Robert De Niro bellow the ago of 50 before tonight.

  • one of the best scenes in cinematic history.

  • One of the best films ever made.

  • is this a scorsese or a tarantino film,im a little confused lol jk

  • @williamrafe1 scorsese man wtf

  • @MrPopeye232323 i was kidding...i know its scorsese...it just seems like a tarantino flick

  • the only thing i dont like about this movie is the mowhawk. that was too much. and not really important enough to the scene for it to be worth doing(shaving ur head)

  • at 1:05 he awkwardly pulls the gun out....like it caught in his pocket. I wonder if that was an accident or it was part of the script. They (the director(s))may have just liked the way it looked

  • @inkey2 dont ask how i know, but if ur going to pull a gun with a hammer, especially a revolver, always keep ur thumb on the hammer, because it will almost certainly get caught, and its not worth taking the chance

  • @williamrafe1 also, its kind of part of the akwardness of de niro's character for it to get stuck

  • @inkey2 also, wtf?! in NYC,in the 70s before it was "cleaned up", if i guy walks up to u with his hands in his pockets, u better have a piece, and u better be ready to use it

  • One of the things in the scene that really stuck with me was the mobster's face twitching :P Yikes

  • they ve totally deserve it

  • anyone wanna say "most violent film ever" ?

i'd say that even though i saw Scarface stuff like that. here everything's just so blunt and direct! :)

and has the audio been adjusted? mine sounds different.

  • u gotta luv how he shoots sport and then sits down for a sec

  • @acerbase14 hes scopin it out, seeing if anyone heard. its n ot uncommon for that to happen in NYC, theres so many stoop people, with him sitting there, he would blend.

  • Always thought it was silly...why did the dude just walk up and shoot Bickle in the arm???? Could have killed him, easy!

  • Maybe too messy, at least legally, to kill him...? *shrug*

  • great movie

im glad i own this on dvd

  • Nothing beats the scene where he released that gun out of his sleeve and shoots that dude 3-4 times in the face. Just seeing the impact of those bullets to the face was amazingly well done.

  • Best cigarette flick ever caught on film.

  • 1:04

Sport needs to work on that reaction time

  • nice hand removal at 1:40

  • @ the 4:43 mark..I have that exact tattoo ;)

    True Story!

  • pwnd

  • Listen, you screwheads!!

  • 1:03-1:04

    "You gotta gun?"

"Get the fuck outta here man,

    Get outta here!"

    "Suck on this!"

    (BLAM!)

Talk about fucking with the wrong man,

tossing that cigarette and kicking out like you were trying to kick away some homeless bum was not the smartest thing to do in that situation, although trying to run away would likely still have resulted in one dead pimp in the end.

  • Nice job, Travis, with the mousegun on the sliding track.

  • man i remember when i first saw this movie and this scene. i use to have fantasies about getting into shootouts and saving women all the time. love this scene.

  • same with me. it looks like you & i are the same. we're the good guys. i also like charles bronson.****

  • 2:47 ouch, he got his face messed up

  • I think it's hysterical when he hits the hotel guy in the head with the gun after he keeps saying "I'll kill you!" and then runs up the stairs... not supposed to be funny, but it is...

I LOVE the music when the cops show up, that brass with the harps... awesome soundtrack!

  • CREEPIEST music, e-ver.

  • Definitely one of the best, if not the best, climactic shootout to end any movie ever. First time I saw it, it scared the crap out of me and it still makes me squirm today to watch it.

  • geezzzuz

  • He is so friggin hot in this movie

  • so. true.

  • I love how messy the editing of the sequence is

  • you got a gun? suck on this!

  • fantastic. However, I disagree with those who think that he intended to shoot her. I think he actually aims it at the couch in general. to see if there is anything in there.

  • I didn't know he was gonna kill the girl too if he didn't run out of bullets.

  • he wasnt going to kill her

  • He may not of planned to kill her at first, but after feeling some lead and thinking he was gonna die soon himself, he decided to end it for him quick and her, he just ran out of shells........that's why around frame 3:45 he pulls back the slide and fires from an empty chamber in her direction, why did he do that? She even pants when he realizes the gun is empty and haves a seat.

  • ah makes sense

  • This scene here's the final showdown, right?

  • this 5 minutes is so awesome this is what all of us really want to do take all your enemies out in one fell swoop sweetness

    "suck on this" bitchin

scorsese is a wizard this and goodfellas? nuttin better

  • that is the worst idea i ever hered

  • Who cares.

  • have a 100 most memorable characters of all time album, he is in it......feel free to add me on fb assil jalgham if you like this film you will like many charcter on the album as well.....and please leave ur comment..

  • Powerful Scene.

  • Excellent scene.

I think the only thing that should of been different is Travis should shot the pimp through his jacket pocket.

Other than that. Excellent scene, Excellent movie.

  • One of the most graphic, realistic shootouts in the history of cinema.

  • shouldn't he shot sports' dick off instead of his stomach hahah.. suck on this!!

  • Naaa..this should stay classic.

  • no he certainly shouldnt

  • fuck that leave the classics alone

  • Gangsta!!! when he whips out tha gun while he's on tha floor and just murks tha guys face!!!!

  • 2:36 Dude's face gets fucked up

  • Kinda reminds me of family reunions.

  • A terrbile shame that many sickos in the world identify with travis - or at least his urge to violence and love of guns.

  • ignorant fuck.

  • De Niro's best work. I saw this as a double bill with Blade Runner at the Balboa near Newport Beach with my then girlfriend and her brother (who was still in high school) in about 1983. I think every one lefT|'feeling just a little green around the gills...

  • KAKAW FLASH!!!

  • and i saw this exact part wen i was 7 and they didnt skip anything out and then i watched the whole movie this year and im in love with it

  • poor harvey keitel right in the stomach

little injoke if uve seen RH2

anyway, that was pretty crazy to see.

fav kill was when he shot that guy in the face...daymn.

  • This movie is a poem to violence.

  • One of the greatest Anti-Heros

  • im sure he did

  • Everything looked so real and gnarly back then. I wish they would do away with this new CGI shit.

  • @spicyMcHAGGIS9green not only does it look better; imagine how much harder it was. there's no excuse now

  • lols the blood spilling sound is classic :O

  • No, for me the craziest part is when the third man dies. Deniro shoots all the bullets and almost all in the face. The cheek trembles for the impacts. crazy stuff.

  • Lovely

  • Whoa. Crazy stuff. Very sad.

  • 2:32 that guy couldve easily gotten him in the head lol

    good movie though

  • man I always Jump when he shoots that guys hand off.

  • Awesome.

  • The craziest part for me is when he pulls the trigger repeatedly to kill himself and there are no bullets left.

  • Crazy fucking ending, best movie ever, a guy that could not take it anymore???

  • 4:39 LOLZ

  • best movie ever

  • "suck on this..!" great!

  • saw this movie a thousand times!!!

  • Well, what exactly would you expect her to do?

  • the latest DVD has an awesome special features track with extensive interviews, including a LOT of Jodie Foster's comments about the project. A must for any fan of this film

  • this film is good i wish it was more longer

  • i just wished they had a war flashback scene, kinda like first blood

  • extreme

  • Copyright to it. As a creative community, its essential that everyone on YouTube respect the copyrights of others. If youre not sure if something will violate someones copyright, the safest thing to do is to create something completely original, with images and audio youve created. If its all yours you never have to worry about copyright—you own it. If youve recorded something from a DVD, videotaped your TV screen, or downloaded a video online, dont post it unless you have permission.

  • tu e thola

  • bro...this is the most oldschool new york fukin classic.

  • The world would be such a better place if society would allow for vigilantes to blow away scum the way Travis Bickle did in this AWESOME scene....love this classic of a movie!!!!

  • shit, i love this film

    this part is insane

scorcese, de niro, you're both brilliant

  • This scene was absolutely incredible. An amazing climax to one of the best films ever made.
