Law Enforcement are protected in some US States to protect them by making it a felony in recording. In California they can confiscate cell phones when they arrest people. There are videos on YT that some Los Angeles County Sheriff Department deputies use their authority to intimidate people into stopping to record them.

George Carlin dared to speak about taboo topics especially law enforcement and religions as some examples.

Humans like to think we are naturally moral, and if you were to take away police and give people more freedoms, they wouldn't commit crimes because they feel respected.
