They faced each other in the playoffs in 2002 (with 25 and 7 years experience KG was certainly in his prime). The Mavs won 3-0. Dirk had 33.3 ppg, 15.7 rpg and shot 53%fg 73%3p and 89%ft while not having the wealthy offensive arsenal a.k.a. shot makings skills he has developed until today.
I didn't look up regular season games since they don't matter, yet can't imagine that KG stopped him there either.
@rampagethaking87 Dirk has nine 30+ point games against Garnett in the regular season and three in the playoffs. Overall, he averages 23.3 points against Garnett, which is actually slightly higher than his overall career average (23.0 ppg). KG is great, but he was never able to shut down Dirk. No shame in that. Duncan is even better than KG, and he was never able to do it either.
@rampagethaking87 No he didn't. The one big man who has given him some, just some, problems in his prime was Ben Wallace. But they never had a series against each other and only played twice in the reg season so I don't know how much those games are really worth
