This was clearly an accident, Mehserle intended to tase. If you want to see a police murder, look up Fong Lee in Minneapolis. Shot 3 times in the back, shot 5 more times on the ground, and they planted a gun next to him. No prints, blood, or DNA on the gun (even though there was blood all over his hands), the gun was the same one the cop who shot him filed a stolen gun report on, and numerous witnesses and video that Lee had no gun.

I began investigating believing this to be a murder, but I have uncovered plenty of facts and evidence that prove this was a terrible and tragic accident. It's very heart breaking to see what happened to Mr. Grant that night. It's even more terrible that his little one will grow without her dad. It's a shame also that there are persons who will generally persecute every police officer for the negligent or unjust act of one. No reasonable officer (on duty) would make a statement to these questions as they are on record and could be used in court.

@ssn708 i know we could debate this forever and never agree, but the use of a taser should be (and is usually stated to be) to protect the physical safety of officers and the general public. I.e., tasers should only be deployed when there is a threat of physical harm...clearly there was not at the time Grant was killed. If you look at the demeanor and body language of the other 2 officers before the shot, it is clear that they were not in any way afraid of being harmed by this victim...

This was clearly an accident, Mehserle intended to tase. If you want to see a police murder, look up Fong Lee in Minneapolis. Shot 3 times in the back, shot 5 more times on the ground, and they planted a gun next to him. No prints, blood, or DNA on the gun (even though there was blood all over his hands), the gun was the same one the cop who shot him filed a stolen gun report on, and numerous witnesses and video that Lee had no gun.

In any video that continues after the shot is fired, Grant clearly props himself up on his right arm, his left is nowhere to be seen. Impossible that he was handcuffed. He then reaches up with his right hand, then his left, and he is clearly not handcuffed. Watch a few more videos and respond back. You will see I am right.

Grant had a hand in his own demise, and that is absolute. His fault was contributory. He DID resist arrest, assault 2 cops, and assault someone on the train. Had he not done so, he would not have been shot that night. That does not excuse the cops criminal negligence or absolve him in ANY way.

I began investigating believing this to be a murder, but I have uncovered plenty of facts and evidence that prove this was a terrible and tragic accident. However, I wont fall into the BS mantra that Grant was somehow innocent. He was resisting arrest. When you do that, very bad things can very easily happen to you.

The hole "I thought it was my taser" story seems quite observed. His taser and Gun have a completely different feel and look. Most tasers have a bight neon color, like a neon yellow front to help distinguish the difference. And if it was a mistake, still, should be given way more time then he was given

@heyaisdabomb Actually, I don't need to prove it, that has already been done. First, Mehserle shouted "Fuck this, I'm tasing him". Second, numerous firearms experts and use of force experts have already testified that his actions were all 100% consistant with one firing a taser, and inconsistant with one firing a gun. Also, some common sense would prove no one would fire a .40 cal downward, at that angle, against a hard surface. Ricochet could kill himself or other officers.

At the point Mehserle attempted to pull his taser (and YES, that IS what he intended to do) they were outnumbered nearly 2-1 and 2 people (including Grant) had assaulted officers. Calling it murder is a lie, and a damn irresponsible one. This was a tragic, criminally negligent accident.

I'm startled that all of those complaining about this are black.brown, etc. I'm white as snow and I have to tell you that cop deserves prison. At LEAST for manslaughter. I think they charged him with murder because they can get him off the greater charge with the defense that it was an "accident."
Manslaughter would stick, the greater charge is unsustainable I think due to "reasonable doubt" that he meant to kill him. I'm not saying that he didn't. But I'm not saying he did either.

It's very heart breaking to see what happened to Mr. Grant that night. It's even more terrible that his little one will grow without her dad. It's a shame also that there are persons who will generally persecute every police officer for the negligent or unjust act of one. There is the right to assemble, but, obviously this man's only intent was to harass. No reasonable officer (on duty) would make a statement to these questions as they are on record and could be used in court.
