You can use hairspray for charcoal drawings? I may switch to that if so. I don't like using the stuff from the art store.. it smells horrible and it's terribly toxic!

What kind of paper is she using? Because my charcoal doesnt smudge and do what I want it to do, with watercolour paper!!

@shoorayner1 I know it was a seawhites sketchbook which has premium cartridge , which I think is called Bristol paper in the States. Maybe you have compressed charcoal? try different types

@PassionOfTheArt She ( that's me, Debi) uses Winsor and Newton Artist's Charcoal which , the packet says, is a general purpose dense, soft black charcoal. Good luck :)
