@Roulden Well,don't forget that Van Hellsing knew how to deal with a vampire,unlike the swat soldiers.He had made full use of Dracula's greatest weaknesses:The fact that,should he stay away from his homeland,Dracula's power would weaken with tha passing of time.And that the sun made him powerless.In addition,he had holy artifacts to keep him at bay and probably crosses and stuff.Plus,Alucard is much stronger than he once was and most of his weaknesses no longer exist.

I meant the original *anime* series. I read the manga, so I know that this one is more accurate (and more badass overall). Either way, Hellsing still kicks ass. I was disappointed with the ending of the original anime, though. They never cleared up Alucard's identity. They only hinted at it with a picture that nobody would get unless they know their history...-.-

It really does. Comparing the original anime to the OVAs, I'd say to not bother with the first anime. It's still good, it just doesn't hold a candle to Hellsing: Ultimate.
