  • When Daft Punk and Chic release their work, I will be a happy person.

  • The bass line sounds like rappers delight

  • @tylerwatt12 i think this song was sampled for rappers delight. might be wrong.

  • @tylerwatt12 That's because the bass line in rapper's delight is a sample of this song.

  • I think .. they WERE the good times

  • First band I ever saw live...sheer class

  • Love the way these lady's look so classy - !!

  • Even the violinist are bopping to this song! One of the funkiest songs around and one of my all time favorites, if not favorite!

  • The violin section gave this group a good dose of elegance. They were dressed nicely as well. They are much missed today.

  • I think Disco brought people together everyone was glamorous and dancing now music pits everyone against each other nothing these day is uplifting or uniting

  • Sorry everybody for the inconvinients... I dont speak or write that right in english, so... I only wanted to say that I love this band, they are cool !

  • This music made you get up and dance. Music of today doesn't inspire that urge, what a shame!

  • @darkstalkers101 So disco doesn't suck? lol

for dancing there's electronica, and house, but gotta admit it, I'm just as happy working up a sweat to KTU in my own living room...

  • @gatolupas Thats right! They still play disco music on the radio 30+ years later. The 70s and 80s were the best years for music and you have to agree that alot of todays music uses lyrics and instrumentals from the 70s and 80s.

  • Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers were geniuses in their day!!!

  • @yadek8

I'm a Black American, and I TOTALLY agree with you !!!

  • Chic are tres chic musically and artistically.

  • I am a black person and I wish we would bring back the bands. We once made so much beautiful music that the world loved. I wish the young black musicians would learn how to play musical instruments. I love old school mucis forever baby !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @oldschoolfan50 You laid the entire foundation for rock and roll...blues and jazz.

  • @oldschoolfan50 Im white....loved these times...black,white? We were all cool!

  • @oldschoolfan50 I FEEL YOU. I LOVE OL SKOOL TOO BCUZ THIS WAS BACK WHEN WE HAD BANDS!! EARTH WIND AND FIRE, GAP BAND, MFSB, SO MANY TALENTED GROUPS THAT WILL NEVER GET THEIR DESERVED RECOGNITION. MUSICIANS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IGNORED N BYPASSED AS ARTISTS TOO AND ITS ABSURD! THEIR THE REASON Y WE'RE DANCING IN THE 1ST PLACE! THEY HAVE TO DO MORE TO APPRECIATE THE MUSICIANS THAT MAKE MUSIC COME ALIVE WITH ALL THESE AWARDS SHOWS ITS NOT FAIR. INSTRUMENTALS ARE SOMETIMES BETTER

  • @oldschoolfan50 i know what u mean but dont restrict this to only black people---remember that groups like Rufus & Chaka Khan and all of the LA studio collective was totaly colorblind....It was just about who was the best musican with the biggest talent...skin color had nothing to do about it.

  • @oldschoolfan50 Those were the days!!

  • @AliYourBrother The best days man, the best!!

  • Sometimes when I hear this tune, I get tempted to sneak in a little "Rapper's Delight". That hook is as addictive as the Cocaine they were snorting in the discotheques of The 70's. I've never tried Cocaine, but if it's like this tune,I would imagine it's hard to quit.

  • haahaa.. good times !! so old and so cool beatz !! lets danceeee

  • a room full of white people that can't dance for shit!

  • @PhilipsGrundig Italians are the best professional dancers in the world

  • WTF????????

  • I agree with every word the music, band and the singers was the best and it's too bad you won't see these kind of stars anymore, Fabulous taste.

  • Italians know everything

  • La verdad que no difiere mucho el comentario del escrito de Wagner titulado Los judíos en la música. El comentario debió empezar con "por favor no tomar esto como lo que es"

  • Wow, right on in the Groove! Terrific song! This is one of the best of the best songs in all the universe league! And infinitely better than modern rap crap which is in the very bottom dirt league! Also this is on the Hershey Drops commercial.

This is back when black musicians retained real talent and wrote and sang real songs with very high perfect quality and ace melody, superb beat, and made a person feel genuinely good. Not disturbing and irritated like a lot of modern music.

  • Cool!!!

  • Nile Rodgers was and still is the baddest lead guitarist ever!

  • those Chic suits, so stylish

  • Those Italians know music,bro.....

  • cara este video esta demais, fantastico a perfomance de uma das maiores banda de todos os tempos......

  • one of the truly great tracks of all time from one of the greatest disco acts of all time...

    who cannot like this...happy song

  • My granmother lucy martin, im following her footsteps <3

  • Woah...! I got a bunch of funky stuck in my eyes!

  • LOOK FOR GAY-OH MAN 0:16

  • @clase1986 Are you talking about the goon in the tight-purple pants?

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk olha aquele gay ali kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Lovin' the outfits!

  • those days will never come back

  • they know how to make partys ;)

  • Happy Birthday Alpha Anderson today 9.7/11 Wishing you many many more

  • @yadek8 It's only hip-hop in your country. If you come to the U.S., you'll experience the rich music, from Hip-hip to House to blues to Jazz to Soul to R&B.

  • @yadek8

That was another point in time. Class is a hard thing to have today... People have lost it...

  • @yadek8 They're still there, yadek8. A lot of them post right on YouTube. They just don't get the promo budget. If you're really interested in a view of how racial politics operate in the music business from a (hugely successful) insider, read Nile Rodgers' autobiography, Le Freak. I'm burning through it right now.

    JAMES

  • @yadek8 Because nothing is built to last these days, buy now throw away tomorrow same as the music industry. How many artists out there now who have been around for years with hits? Now artists sell millions to kids who will have no memory of them in a few years. The demand is for quantity not quality, good music will last forever because people with sense demand it. Parties, weddings etc are not complete without these gems. Long live quality music whatever the genre or artist.

  • @yadek8 Fashion led, I guess. There are some great young players in the 'States but I suppose that Hip Hop offers an easier path into music without having to spend years learning your instruments properly?

  • @yadek8 You sound stupid! Times change. Why don't you just mind your own business?

  • @yadek8 shut the fuck up, you're a fucking moron!

  • @yadek8 I blame the anti-disco backlash for part of it, but even after the 1970s there were great black artists like Rick James. I found rap to be very engaging up through sometime in the 1990s, but R&B seems to have slipped into being boring by then. I don't think the R&B of the 1990s onward sounds like the same genre of music that was called R&B in the 1970s and 1980s. I'm not too fond of today's rap; all of it just seems smugly hedonistic and the beats are less funky.

  • @Fawful5 Oh hell yeah Rick James was the man and if nobody believes me just checkout my channel...lol

  • @yadek8 I don't think your comment is racist at all . I could not agree with you more.

Let's get back to playing instruments not machines !!!!

  • EDWARDS THE MAN

  • Ultimate pick me song when one is feeling down!

  • How about the guy in the gray leisure suite at the beginning! Break it down, man! No spandex there.

  • @www1webb You think he was gay? You THINK?

  • @www1webb Don't be talkin' bout bad leisure suits, bruh!! They was Da Bomb back in da day!! No leisure suit? No girlfriend!!

  • Greatest line of all time..."Clams on the half shell...and roller skates, roller skates!"

  • Spiked hairstyles have "stuck" for like 40 years. Who let Disco die? Fun is fun, and disco WAS fun. A lot of music that "came after"--and today is mere noise, in comparison. Sometimes I think the people who die when their life is very happy---and people say it's so sad---on the other hand, maybe it's sadder when people go through very happy times in their lives with a lot of meaning then the years that follow seem to drop in joy and quality like the temperature does in wintertime. Sniff : (

  • Very nice!!!! Brings back old days. Like the disco atmosphere.

  • The back round music sounds exactly like rapper's delight by the sugarhill gang

  • Good times.... the same.

  • Look at all the groovy Italians dancing and booging

  • Thumbs up if you're listening to this in 1979.

  • retro

  • R.I.P...MR LEE VINES...keybord player....

  • R.I.P...MR LEE VINES...keybord player....cancer.

  • OMG just only the best music.....GOOD TIMES....CHIC....AHHHHHH the best on the best....amazing time...amazing music...please come back....I have in my heart good times.....

  • NOTHING LIKE GOOD DISCO MUSIC!! My #1 FAVORITE MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!

  • la presentatrice era la bellissima stefania rotolo (rip)

  • Thats not his stingray or a P bass. What is Bernard playing in this video?

  • @comeonfucker B.C.Rich Eagle bass

  • @comeonfucker It's a BC Rich Eagle. Or a copy thereof. I think Bernard had a couple of them actually.

  • I was only 15 when this came out, wishing I was older so I could dance in the disco... those days were really the good times...i'm 47 now and I wish I could turn back time to 1979 - 1985 ;-)

  • This is my favorite Disco song. Makes me want to put on some roller skates and boogie.

  • @katburg you can turn on any Radio in the World. and Queen will be on that Radio. I actually own the Chic Anthology and they added songs that I never even heard of , Probably just Filler songs. but if you Own Queens Anthology the number of Popular songs and Hits on it Outweigh all those Artist you named All Put Together. As far as "Nile Rogers" goes. Yes he wrote "some" great tunes. and some ideas. but he's no Genius.

  • Grandi Chic ma grande anche la povera Stefania Rotolo morta a soli 30 anni RIP.

  • meraviglia :-)))

  • wow.... John Travolta is here tooo...

  • Glad to see flares are back in fashion. Well over here in the UK. Not seen all that many trousers though but jeans defo.

  • 1979 best video live render.. thanks <3 a diamond.

    have a good times everybody.

  • Man i was turning 15 years old with this song just learning about the realities of the

World, but it was fun dancin' in every Disco that time.

  • I was a young adult during this time, and I am so happy to have lived it. A simple yet great time. Dancing the night away....sure wish I was young again!

  • I am italian. Never seen this video before.

    Absolutely GREAT!

    CHIC the best.

    Greetings from Italy.

  • Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" tried to rip off the bass line and guitar lick in this song. That's right, Queen are copycats! This song came out first.

  • @michaelvj50 Actually both bands were in the same studio when the BASS line was created... and both bands did the VIBE justice...

  • @michaelvj50 and Queen also made more money than Chic could ever Dream. Listen to Queen's Anthology and see how the Big Boys do It. Chic Is A Great band By the Way. But To compare Ability and Sales. There really is no Comparison.

  • 1979 una delle canzoni della mia adolescenza. una splendida e rimpianta presentatrice, la mitica e sfortunata Stefania Rotolo. quanti ricordi e quanto tempo è passato!!!

  • The 70's and 80's were decades when people knew how to have fun. Dancing and singing, dressing in crazy colorful fashions, just having a good time. Those were the days!!!

  • @MsAussielass and Parents were More Abusive too... the 70s sucked, but the Music Ruled.

  • @ENEMENCIO123VISION I do not know about parents being more abusive back then. I know of a lot of parentes being abusive nowadays . . . so it is a matter of perspective. People are incredibly more violent today mate ! To me, being a kid in the 70s and a teen in the 80s was great and I would not trade for anything. But, everyone has different life experiences.

  • August 18th 1979 :"Good Times" by Chic ,Number one for a week

  • i said a hip hop the hippie the hippie

to the hip hip hop, a you dont stop

the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie

to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat

  • @Reakkor sugarhill stole this riff... but it was for a good cause...

  • @ENEMENCIO123VISION Queen stole this riff too in Another One Bites the Dust. This is and will always be a classic!

  • @afropunk81 Queen got the Bass line Idea from Chic's guitarist to be Exact. both bands were in the same building when the recording took place. believe me , your not "shedding" anything new to the Music News World. anyway, i never said this wasnt classic, funny how people try to put words in my mouth. anything that was on the radio from 1970-1985 is generally classified as "classic" i remember when "pop" music was only on "AM" radio. FM was unheard of back then.

  • @ENEMENCIO123VISION Queen stole this riff too in Another One Bites the Dust.

  • Was this taped in 1979 or recently ?

  • Bernard Edwards man !!!! the Man man !!!!

  • Did you catch the violin chicks getting into it. Didn't know they took their musicians with them. Killer.

  • nile rodgers producer great

  • Their producer must've been amazing. This sounds like it could've been released recently.

  • cara stefania, la vita non è stata buona con te. nel fiore della tua gioventu' ti ha voltato le spalle.però resterai nei cuori di chi ti ha seguito nella tua breve parabola.con affetto, ciao!!!!!!
