I think Disco brought people together everyone was glamorous and dancing now music pits everyone against each other nothing these day is uplifting or uniting
Sorry everybody for the inconvinients... I dont speak or write that right in english, so... I only wanted to say that I love this band, they are cool !
@gatolupas Thats right! They still play disco music on the radio 30+ years later. The 70s and 80s were the best years for music and you have to agree that alot of todays music uses lyrics and instrumentals from the 70s and 80s.
I am a black person and I wish we would bring back the bands. We once made so much beautiful music that the world loved. I wish the young black musicians would learn how to play musical instruments. I love old school mucis forever baby !!!!!!!!!!!!
@oldschoolfan50 I FEEL YOU. I LOVE OL SKOOL TOO BCUZ THIS WAS BACK WHEN WE HAD BANDS!! EARTH WIND AND FIRE, GAP BAND, MFSB, SO MANY TALENTED GROUPS THAT WILL NEVER GET THEIR DESERVED RECOGNITION. THEY HAVE TO DO MORE TO APPRECIATE THE MUSICIANS THAT MAKE MUSIC COME ALIVE WITH ALL THESE AWARDS SHOWS ITS NOT FAIR. INSTRUMENTALS ARE SOMETIMES BETTER
@oldschoolfan50 i know what u mean but dont restrict this to only black people---remember that groups like Rufus & Chaka Khan and all of the LA studio collective was totaly colorblind....It was just about who was the best musican with the biggest talent...skin color had nothing to do about it.
Sometimes when I hear this tune, I get tempted to sneak in a little "Rapper's Delight". That hook is as addictive as the Cocaine they were snorting in the discotheques of The 70's. I've never tried Cocaine, but if it's like this tune,I would imagine it's hard to quit.

@yadek8 It's only hip-hop in your country. If you come to the U.S., you'll experience the rich music, from Hip-hip to House to blues to Jazz to Soul to R&B.
@yadek8 They're still there, yadek8. A lot of them post right on YouTube. They just don't get the promo budget. If you're really interested in a view of how racial politics operate in the music business from a (hugely successful) insider, read Nile Rodgers' autobiography, Le Freak. I'm burning through it right now.
@yadek8 Because nothing is built to last these days, buy now throw away tomorrow same as the music industry. How many artists out there now who have been around for years with hits? Now artists sell millions to kids who will have no memory of them in a few years. The demand is for quantity not quality, good music will last forever because people with sense demand it. Parties, weddings etc are not complete without these gems. Long live quality music whatever the genre or artist.
@yadek8 Fashion led, I guess. There are some great young players in the 'States but I suppose that Hip Hop offers an easier path into music without having to spend years learning your instruments properly?
@yadek8 I blame the anti-disco backlash for part of it, but even after the 1970s there were great black artists like Rick James. I found rap to be very engaging up through sometime in the 1990s, but R&B seems to have slipped into being boring by then. I don't think the R&B of the 1990s onward sounds like the same genre of music that was called R&B in the 1970s and 1980s. I'm not too fond of today's rap; all of it just seems smugly hedonistic and the beats are less funky.
Spiked hairstyles have "stuck" for like 40 years. Who let Disco die? Fun is fun, and disco WAS fun. A lot of music that "came after"--and today is mere noise, in comparison. Sometimes I think the people who die when their life is very happy---and people say it's so sad---on the other hand, maybe it's sadder when people go through very happy times in their lives with a lot of meaning then the years that follow seem to drop in joy and quality like the temperature does in wintertime. Sniff : (

As far as "Nile Rogers" goes. Yes he wrote "some" great tunes. and some ideas. but he's no Genius.
The 1970s @ its' Best is Right Here, The Maestro of Love Mr. Barry White was so right in his last Proclamation "they will never be able to duplicate nor recreate the true sounds of real music from the 1960s and 1970s, never again" so despite all the remix kings and queens you can never really compare to the Original Model in its' Originality, even in 2010, 2011 or 2012 today folks. Can We Ever Do This Again?
I was a young adult during this time, and I am so happy to have lived it. A simple yet great time. Dancing the night away....sure wish I was young again!
Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" tried to rip off the bass line and guitar lick in this song. That's right, Queen are copycats! This song came out first.
@michaelvj50 and Queen also made more money than Chic could ever Dream. Listen to Queen's Anthology and see how the Big Boys do It. Chic Is A Great band By the Way. But To compare Ability and Sales. There really is no Comparison.
