@volodask RTVE did NOT apologize. The footage seen above was in fact buried in the middle of a TV show, preceded by trivial complaints. The video makers denied any misdeed, and the reporter said only that this shows the need to be TACTFUL, as if problem was just supposed Serbian hyper-sensitivity. It is a *fact* that they made "a documentary about a Croat criminal" that "whitewashed Croatian fascism." And the *fact* remains: RTVE made no promise to correct the video, shown on RTVE's website.

@theemperorsclothes Oh,come on. Do you think they would make a documentary about a Croat criminal, if they wanted to whitewash Croatian fascism? Maybe they don't use the word "fascist", but if they say that there were horrible concentration camps in Croatia, that about sends the same message. The author of the documentary probably did not know anything about the genocide (Holocaust if you prefer) of the Serbs in Croatia. They would not apologize if it were on purpose. Just don't overreact.

@pkosic Serbia's ruling politics now are the consequence of a coup d'etat, so that the media now repeats all the anti-Serbian lies. That such media do not tell the truth about Jasenovac (and bow before the Srebrenica slanders!) hardly justifies Spanish TV whitewashing the clerical fascism of Croatia (which it admits had a system just like Franco's Spain.) Talking about Jasenovac while omitting to even mention its main purpose -- the elimination of Serbians! -- should not earn praise for RTVE.

Also, I wish that the comments were focused more on the actual documentary than the mistake which was made. At least these people have made some sort of historical retrospective of the NDH acts during WW2, whereas very little is being or has been done to that effect in the Balkans, which includes Serbia. If the mistake was intentional they would have ignored the petition and would not apologise, at least not publicly.

@papaparanoya The petition scared RTVE because they were trying to revise history to distinguish between clerical Fascism (they call it "Catholic Nationalist" and "resistance"), presented as good (Luburic's assistant speaks last, saying he is proud he helped "resistance," and then film ends with people giving fascist salute!) and excesses committed by INDIVIDUAL sadists (Lubiric). RTVE feared mass response could lead to public exposure. This TV show attempts to trivialize omission of Serbians!

@theemperorsclothes Luburic may have been a sadistic killer, but he was under the direct order of Pavelic, who in turn was under direct order of Hitler and his generals. The killing of Serbs, as well as Jews, Gypsies etc is a well documented goal of the Third Reich and the its satellites such as the NDH. Are you telling me RTVE suggests that this is not true? If so, I would imagine that would make a lot more national groups and organisations angry, not just the Serbs.

@papaparanoya Yes, Luburic was under Pavelic's orders: that was my point. Yes, the line the movie takes WOULD make groups other than Serbians angry; therefore this petition frightened RTVE. Fearing that public exposure of their DENIAL of the evil of clerical Fascism per se would make many people angry, they broadcast this FAKE apology in order, they hoped, to cut off protest. Their REVISIONIST film remains on their website, unchanged. And there is no apology (even a fake one) on their website.

@JaredIsrael It just seems kind of contradictory that they would give further publicity to a question which was only raised on page xy of some Serbian newspaper and by some part of the tiny Serbian community in Spain, if it is likely to draw attention to the much more globally relevant issue of their (as you suggest) attempt to attribute the Nazi death camps to the mental instability of individuals who ran them and not the Nazi system and ideology. Jasenovac and other places/acts of genocide of NDH (Croat state during WW2) over the Serb population at the time are directly related to the events of the 1990s. The problem is that even though the Yugoslav brand of socialism was quite mild compared to the Soviet kind, it still insisted on "ordering" people to just forget what happened and who attempted genocide over whom, rather than actually resolving the major crimes commited and giving at least some comfort to the victims and their offspring

When you publish the statement where you say you are not wrong, nor feeling sorry, and then finish the statement with the words "nevertheless - excuse me". That is not an excuse, that is a INSULT !

Croatian Nazi regime wiped out Serbs in the largest non Jewish Holocaust in Europe. Using more brutal methods then nazi Germans did.

To not mention Serbian victims in documentary about Luburic who's lifework was extermination of Serbs is absurd.

Listen to this documentary, and understand why did we had another war in 1991 in Croatia, and Bosnia. Ustaše-Croats, made in 1941 a state of todays Croatia, and Bosnia and some parst od Serbia whit help of nazi Germany, Bulgaria, Romania, Italia and komunists. Jasenovas was the concentration camp where all od serbs where taken to be killed in the worst way there is, just because they were serbs.

Regarding the program yesterday, it was a great victory that Mr. Postolovic appeared, and he was excellent. As for la defensora, she informs us that the only problem with the movie about Luburic was lack of tact. How foolish of me -- I thought it was Holocaust denial.

@theemperorsclothes It's a typical sloppy work by a Spanish journalist knowing very little about the topic. You can find another error in the documentary - it says the Ustashe were responsible for ALL the concentration camps around Yugoslavia. That's nonsense: Slovenia was partitioned, while Dalmatia was completely in Italian hands and Nedic's government also had its own concentration camps. Sloppy it may be - but calling it genocide denial is wide off the mark.

@semanarioserbio Given 20 years of careful lies to slander Serbians, do not assume RTVE said Croatia was part of Bosnia by mistake. The public is indoctrinated to hear "Bosnia" and think, "Mass murder by Serbians." By saying Croatia was part of Bosnia and omitting that Serbians were the main victims, RTVE sets up viewers to fit Jasenovac into the prevailing propaganda-created view, so people think "Serb-perpetrated genocide against the poor Bosniaks is nothing new."

The reading you have just given of the crass error of the author of the documentary is simply so absurd on so many levels, that I feel pity for you.
