A good wife is a gift from the Lord. You don’t stand a chance of getting one apart from His grace and mercy. The best way to find one is to close your eyes, listen with your heart and beg God for His grace and mercy in your choice. There are beautiful women who are single who will not settle for less than a very godly man. There are ugly women who make awesome wives because they are not arrogant and have learned to be attractive in character.
People who are only into physical attraction should definitely marry each other. They will learn a lot and those who care about character will have fewer but better choices. A marriage built on beauty will fail because beauty fades and eventually becomes old and wrinkled and there will always be someone younger and better looking out there.
A proverb 31 woman can hit to the gym too. That's part of her daily routine to take good care of herself first so that she can take care of other things. It is not a sign of insecurity.

Victoria's Secret is not making girls feel bad about themselves. Its the society that we live in, but the fashion show was a point where a lot of BEAUTIFUL girls that I know were jokingly but at the same time seriously thinking that they were not good enough. I think that one simple facebook status he posted is so inspiring. I'm a Christian woman and though proverbs 31 is one of the most read things in my own Bible, I had almost given up on trying to be a woman of Godly character, because it seemed like even Christian men were not interested in a girl unless she was flirtatious or wore revealing clothes, It made me feel like being a Godly woman in today's world was useless and unattractive. It's so good to see support for Proverbs 31.

We've lost the concept that beauty should be reserved for a spouse. When it is flaunted for the world, the mystic and allure is lost. So, Victoria Secret Models are not proverbs 31 women. @thisiscellll That verse your not using in the right context. When Paul was writing it, he was talking to the Church. What i believe he is saying is that Woman aren't supposed to be pastors, preists etc. It does not mean they are to be quiet at all times. The Bible is very clear that a man/husband is to be the "Spiritual leader" of the Church/household. If woman try and rise above them on this, the man sure isnt going to feel like a man. Which in turn can lead to disaster.

I believe some of you are missing the true point of this video. It is all about trying to pick a partner that has a good heart and soul. Yes he might have been mistaken in selecting a victoria secret model to target. But I beleive it was just something that was done in the moment and not thought about future reprecussions. Don't get angry at him. He is trying to spread a good overall message.
I hope this "movement" not only encourages people to rethink their relationships and what they're really looking for in a person, but also that it would encourage some of these women, who think they are only good for one thing as they strut around naked for all the world to gawk at them, to find their true value as a person and stop cheapening themselves.
Anytime someone in our society tries to encourage others to think in a more morally pure way, people will respond in a negative way in an attempt to defend or justify their own immoral thoughts and/or actions. Alex Ekland...my boy...I can agree with the overall message and intent that society focuses on the physical appearance of individuals and doesn't buy stock in the more important traits that you listed, however, you get an F on the delivery. It is the way in which our world defines beautiful is what we need to be more careful of, and make sure that we ourselves are not falling into that trap. Every person is beautiful, and Alex is only trying to challenge us (through the 31 movement) to look beyond the emphasis placed on physical beauty and look deeper into other issues society has pushed away as irrelavant.

There is not enough space to say about many of the comments. Models may have ethics but showing off much skin ans living a life of physical expectations in that industry is NOT Godly. Jesus told the Pharisees to clean the inside of the bowl, then the outside will be made clean. Simply, how you are inside will manifest on the outside. I am thankful for my wife, she is not the most beautiful to the word on the outside but she is godly and a great wife and mother inside. Proverbs 31 indeed.
@CaterpillarEater The answer is NOPE! God tells women to dress modestly. If you are parading around in your undies for the world to see - that is definitely not being modest! In addition - we are not to do things that cause our brothers and sisters to stumble in their walk with the Lord. We know men are visual creatures and half naked women are not helping the men out there who are trying their best to walk in integrity.

I believe what it is saying is that a woman is to be submissive to her husband as he is the head of the houshold(Which does not mean a husband controls his wife), as Christ is the Head of the Church. So many woman today think they should be just as authoritative as men and are robbing them of being the spiritual Leaders God has called them to be.
@lily212418 You have hit on the #1 reason marriages fail! Most women try to be "in control" when that is the opposite of God's order for marriages. The husband is to be the head of the wife in everything - that does mean that he has some control over his wife. Women just don't want to admit that. And yes, I am a woman. It's a hard pill to swallow in our equality focused and feministic world, but it's God's way. If more people got this, the divorce rate would drop dramatically!

The message of it, however, is that women should be submissive to men because of the "original sin" being started by women. This is clearly immoral, and adds to the cognitive dissonance of logic vs. the Bible.

I think a lot of the comments about this video are focused on how it bashes or demonizes Victoria's Secret & their barely dressed models. But the real point is to elevate what God desires us to be as shown in the Bible. We should be seeking His Word in all aspects of our lives, including what to look for in a man/woman. This video should remind us to examine our lives from His perspective, and if that makes you uncomfortable, then perhaps commenting on this video is the least of your worries.
I think the parts in those verses that really stuck out to me were: "She is clothed with dignity..." not nearly naked for all to see. And "charm is deceptive & beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." I want to be that woman! And I want my daughters to strive to be that woman as well. Our beauty will fade, but the Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom! I'd rather be wise than deceptive with beauty that will fade over time.

He's saying that our culture puts too much emphasis on women being physically beautiful as defined by standards like the ones that Victoria's Secret represents. Girls shouldn't be defining their worth on how physically attractive they are compared to models, and men shouldn't define their worth this way either.

He is using the stereotype that models are self absorbed and think only of their physical beauty to say that a woman who thinks that her worth is merely in being decorative is less desirable than one who keeps her character as the center of her worth

As a 46-year-old single guy (divorced about 10 years now) I would give almost anything for a 'woman of noble character' but they seem for the most part to be married or if single- damaged by men or a husband or both who treated them poorly. What man truly desires won't be found if a priority focus is how (racy) a woman looks.
@Killfi09 No man "deserves" a Proverbs 31 woman and no woman "deserves" a man of equal character. As fallen people, we deserve death, but Jesus made a way for us by the grace of God. If you read the bible in its entirety, men are definitely called to be the things you say and more. And you are right in saying that these types of men and women are "hard to find". The key is that God calls each of us to be "the right person" regardless of how we are treated or what others deserve.
I think Proverbs 31 has a much bigger meaning and I have to agree with this movement. Yes, in my wishful thinking I do want a woman with certain physical characteristics but in reality I am in search of a proverbs 31 woman. One who has more personality than looks. Ladies on these beauty magazines are only 2 dimensional and can be easily placed on a bookshelf unlike a Proverbs 31 woman who can bring joy into other peoples lives.
To even insinuate that Victoria's Secret models are somehow not worthy of partnership is to break a key tenent of basic Christianity. Matthew 7:1 says, "Judge not, that you be not judged." What i believe he is saying is that Woman aren't supposed to be pastors, preists etc. It does not mean they are to be quiet at all times. Jesus told the Pharisees to clean the inside of the bowl, then the outside will be made clean. Simply, how you are inside will manifest on the outside. I think a lot of the comments about this video are focused on how it bashes or demonizes Victoria's Secret & their barely dressed models. But the real point is to elevate what God desires us to be as shown in the Bible. We should be seeking His Word in all aspects of our lives, including what to look for in a man/woman. I think the parts in those verses that really stuck out to me were: "She is clothed with dignity..." not nearly naked for all to see. And "charm is deceptive & beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." I want to be that woman! And I want my daughters to strive to be that woman as well. This is the problem with bible backed movements. They are usually flawed and appeal to the lowest common denominator in this country. Oh and they also usually stay in Texas.

@Spicyflav0r If you watched the video, you should already know that he's not criticizing Victoria's Secret models in the sense that he thinks they are not to be looked up to as people. He's saying that our culture puts too much emphasis on women being physically beautiful as defined by standards like the ones that Victoria's Secret represents. Girls shouldn't be defining their worth on how physically attractive they are compared to models, and men shouldn't define their worth this way either.

@Spicyflav0r many of the things that embody a provebers 31 woman are the exact opposite of what you see in Victoria Secret models...example 1, Modesty...Victoria Supermodels are every but modest in their commercials, fashion shows, etc,, which causes men to stumble which is what a proverbs 31 woman tries to avoid.

It has nothing to do with physical beauty being wrong, I think what is being addressed here is the concept that physical beauty is all there is. He is using the stereotype that models are self absorbed and think only of their physical beauty to say that a woman who thinks that her worth is merely in being decorative is less desirable than one who keeps her character as the center of her worth

I bet even a model would be the first to say that good looks don't guarantee happiness. Same goes for money and fame. So who are you (and the rest of the women on here) really trying to convince? @UMLandshark No, it isn't about convincing anyone of anything. It is obvious that certain less than savory messages are on tv that people watch all the time. Things like Jersey Shore or Gossip Girl. Even though people know that those messages are wrong, it cant be good for them to constantly watch or listen to things like that. It is relieving to occasionally hear a good message rather than a bad one.

Thank you. The whole premise is so fundamentally flawed it's ridiculous. If Victoria's Secret had a code of ethics or some kind of oath of how to behave off the job that conflicted with Proverbs 31, then there would at least be something to go on. But there isn't, and all this argument comes down to is desperately trying to find moral flaws in the physically beautiful. And f.y.i., VS model Adriana Lima is a devout Catholic and remained a virgin until she married. Check, and mate.

But as a single guy with functional eyes and a desire for a Godly woman- I a) don't want to think about lingerie as it is a distraction from what I truly want to see, and b) "sexy" looks are not likely to get more than a passing glance by a "Proverbs 31 Man" if at all, and c) I think the video post was about priority focus, wasn't saying beautiful women are not- or can't be - honorable. A good SINGLE woman don't need VS.....

"He is known in the gates and respected".........he is known in the circle of the wise, respected, knowledgeable and known as a man who has been walking the walk and not just talking the talk. @Killfi09 I didn't read all the comments but you are right on here. Some defend VS as "being in the business of selling clothes" and their job isn't to preach... As a 46-year-old single guy (divorced about 10 years now) I would give almost anything for a 'woman of noble character' but they seem for the most part to be married or if single- damaged by men or a husband or both who treated them poorly. What man truly desires won't be found if a priority focus is how (racy) a woman looks.

@Killfi09 No man "deserves" a Proverbs 31 woman and no woman "deserves" a man of equal character. As fallen people, we deserve death, but Jesus made a way for us by the grace of God. If you read the bible in its entirety, men are definitely called to be the things you say and more. And you are right in saying that these types of men and women are "hard to find". The key is that God calls each of us to be "the right person" regardless of how we are treated or what others deserve.

I think Proverbs 31 has a much bigger meaning and I have to agree with this movement. Yes, in my wishful thinking I do want a woman with certain physical characteristics but in reality I am in search of a proverbs 31 woman. One who has more personality than looks. Ladies on these beauty magazines are only 2 dimensional and can be easily placed on a bookshelf unlike a Proverbs 31 woman who can bring joy into other peoples lives.

To even insinuate that Victoria's Secret models are somehow not worthy of partnership is to break a key tenent of basic Christianity. Matthew 7:1 says, "Judge not, that you be not judged." So next time, make sure you understand that book you're quoting obscure verses from before you start posting Youtube videos.

In the commercials I don't get the impression that they are displaying the actresses as a model of the one that the Bible describes. None of these actresses should take offense unless they let the character they are playing define who they really are.
