  • Nice work Colin.. it is really helpful video for us..pls can you tell us how these pencils should we use...? after use of this pencil should i apply water on it by using brush....? i dnt have any idea abt pencils ... i use only acrylic colors... THANKS & REGARDS....

  • @kalyaniad Thank you for your email and your interest. The pencils I use require no water, if you visit my website there is a wealth of information on how to use them.

    Kind regards Colin.

  • Are pastel pencils soft or oil pastel? Or are there both? Which do you use here? sorry for all the questions lol

  • @Exiria Thank you for your interest. The pastel pencils are quite firm and chalky. The ones I prefer are called 'Pitt' and are made by Faber-Castell, these are smoother to apply than the others and do not break easily giving you the oportunity to work in better detail. best regards Colin.

  • Just Fabulous work!! What type of paper/board did you use?

  • Thank you for your kind comments. The pencils i use are pastel pencils and are made by Faber-Castell and the paper is 160 gram sand coloured Ingres pastel paper.

  • but they dont seem to have soft tips. can you sharpen them easily with any ordinary pencil sharpener ? thanks...

  • I prefer to use a blade to sharpen them with, a pencil sharpener is prone to breaking the pastel.

    Colin.

  • I just love your work. I looked at your sight and it shows your dvd's but not in U.S. Dollar amounts. Also what paper medium are you using and name of the pencils you use. I am brand new at art and didnt know you could do this with pencils. I bought all kinds of acrylics, oils to use. Pencils would be easyer to take with me places. Thanks Terry

  • I've never been quite so good with colors... I've only been drawing with pencils, hehe... I should start practicing with colors, also... hope it works out for me. You're a great artist Colin, keep up the good work. ^_^

  • Thank you for your kind comments.

    Best wishes Colin.

  • Human imagination at work! beautiful..

  • Thank you for your kind comments.

    Best regards Colin.

  • thats amazing on how u can contras your shading by using your finger as well the form of light touch with the pastel pencil too the paper. oh a question, "whats the song played in the background?"

  • Thank you for your comments. The music in the background is called 'perpetual state' but I don't know the artist, I found it on an royalty free site.

    Regards Colin Bradley.

  • I suppose i should get practicing, i haven't used pastels before.

  • Thank you for your comment. I am sure that you will enjoy using the pastel pencil medium, it is so forgiving and the advantage is you can erase it successfully.

    Regards Colin Bradley.

  • Damn, you´re good! How I envy the pleasure and relaxation it must provide people such as yourself to have such artistic talent, and to be able to create fine works such as this one.

  • Hi bjursten

Thank you for your kind comments. It is indeed a blessing to have been given my gift but it is even more rewarding to be able to share that gift with others. Over the years I have taught many students the techniques of using the pastel pencils, and many have gone on to great heights using their talents.

Thank you again, best regards Colin Bradley.

  • VERY NICE WORK

    KEVIN

  • Hi evelyn99

Thank you for your kind comments. The paper I prefere to use is 160 gram sand coloured ingres pastel paper. your are right, try not to smudge with your finger too much. Check my other videos and you will see that I seldom use my finger.

    Kind regards

    Colin.

  • I have the same questions as tasha2g regarding the type of paper used and the brand of the pastel pencils.

I thoroughly enjoyed the video as I am learning to do pastel portraits. I tend to use my finger too much and blend too much. Also, on the other videos you gave the number of the pencils which is very helpful.

    Thank you very much.

  • Love your videos, I wanted to try this medium, what type of paper and pastel pencils are you using?
