PowerDirector 9 Tutorial - Getting Started

Just to let you know I have a two duo core HP 2.8 I downloaded the trial version of power director it does not allow you to try MTS files or AVCHD. Once I downloaded the program it was very sluggish with AVCHD files I was patient because I wanted it to work. It locked up when rendering to YouTube the video locked but the voice continued. I requested a refund and they are processing it now. My camera came with a program to edit shots and combines shots. So I am working with that now.

I have a strange thing happening with powerdirector 8. When I produce the file to a finished movie the Chroma Key image is removed and all I get is the green screen on my video. I have searched everywhere for an answer. Do you know what I could be doing wrong or is it a software issue

@youngersis14 I tgoes the same way. Import your video clips into the library and then drag them to the time line. You can add transitions between 2 clips from the transition room. Then you can add text from the title room. It is just impossible to write down everything you can do. Try to search for keywords like "adding transitions in powerdirector 9" or "importing clips to the library powerdirector 9" etc

@LoveFromBelgium check if next to the yellow folder icon (Import media) what the second drop down says. Next to this icon u see a blue globe, then all content, and the last drop down should say "All Media" . If it is set to Audio or Images, it will not let you import any videos. That's the only think I can think of.

Hello can you help me I want to make my title on the video get smaller/bigger onscreen as the video plays sort of like the title Star Wars title moves. I also want it to fade in/out as it does this I can't figure out how to do this. I know it can do titles with a still fade out/in effect but I want to do more. I tried selecting Magic Motion but it keeps disappearing when I select it so I can't use it only when I select a photo why can't I use this to do this kind of effect with a title?

@blameist What I would do is to create the title moving like Star Wars clip 1st with green background, render it. then import the clip, and do a chroma key effect to remove the green from the background. Now you can apply the fade effect. I hope this helped

Andiqa1, how do you move subtitles around in pd9? Like what if you want it on the top instead of the bottom?

@kittydakat1 You can't move the subtitle to the top. But you can insert a title in the title room and move it to to the top of the screen and type the text, like you would if it was a subtitle, then drag the length of the title in the timeline to the length of the actual duration, then insert a new title clip and repeat. Choose a smaller font size 12-14. I hope this helped

Hi andiqa can you tell me how to make the capture box or where your videos are streaming bigger? for example im startinh to make cod vids on my xbox but im using composite 2 and i need to make the box on the LEFT bigger. any help? i would REALLY appreciate

@andiqa1 ok well if you could spend 3 mins and watch this video watch?v=G_OOEewuras and then when he goes to and press capture then he goes to Composite 2 which is where the xbox cords are (Standard Red, White, and Yellow) and then he starts getting the video coming in like after he turns on his xbox then you see the xbox video come up on the left side or the little box at 2:08 so i wanna know how to make THAT bigger thx

Hi Andiqa, can you tell me how to do a transition(fade, or any other)that will go from clip to clip, without going through a black bacground, and without affecting the sound?

@ministerio9530 When you drag the fade transition to the timeline, between the 2 clips, right-click on the transition, then click "Switch to cross transition" It will fade from 1 clip to the other without a black bgr and it will not effect the sound

hi ! im trying to put together a football highlight but i have no video software... does the CyberLink PowerDirector 9 Deluxe have the effects/capabilities of arrows or circles? that can highlight someone on the field.... HELP PLEASE!

@Smooph590 It doesn't have tools built in to do that but you can add your own effects, graphics that could do the job. You can add motion to objects on the screen. Let's say u add a pic of an arrow in a video track, then it can move with the football player but it requires a little bit more advanced skills.

@MetroArtyom2033 I would render the videos u made in Hypercam3 into video files that you can import to PD9.

Then you can edit ur clip. u can import mpg, mpeg, mpe, dat, avi, wmv, mov, vob, vro, asf, dvr-ms, wtv, mod, mp4, m2vs, m2t, mts, 3g2, 3gp, flv, tod, tpd, ts, trp files into powerdirector 9

@pepperutchie drag the title to the timeline. highlight this title clip so it's blue. then click the "modify" button. in the new window, u can change font, color, size, shadow, outline, add more text, insert pictures, or insert a background picture. click on every button in this window to see what options you have. I hope this helped.

@pepperutchie I am not sure about the trial version, I bought the full version at the beginning. To flip your clip upside down, click on the "Modify" button, and click "Enable flip object upside down. I hope it helped :)

@jasonparasmusic hi, you have to get an animated background clip in your time line where you want the effect. Check out my video about action backs for a promo code for ActionBacks. They are really nice designs and very affordable. You can also get nice royalty free video clips from pond5 just Google it. I hope it helped.

V9 does import Zi8 files, they are just MOV files and it does very well too. The reason im buying Powerdirector.
