  • Fuck the ducks!

  • A couple of hundred ducks die in a freak accident at a tailing pond as compared to thousands of of all types of birds dying daily in a single wind farm. hmmm. Can you imagine if at the start of the great oil boom in Texas and the Gulf, a bunch of foreigners went down there and tryed telling Americans not to extract that oil because its bad for the environment?

  • just so you know, the picture you used to show "tailings ponds" are actually the fresh water ponds at Suncor. it might help your case to at least get the info right

  • Disgusting. We're turning northern Alberta into a digusting, polluted wasteland so Americans (and Canadians, too) can continue to drive to walmart and buys useless stuff, most of which is not at all necessary and will not improve their quality of life. This system of constant consumtion is insane. Read The Lorax for fuck sakes!!! Dr. Suess got it right long ago.

Let's reduce consumtion, lower population (in Canada that means no or very little immigration), live more sustainably. Wake up!!

  • Big Deal.... This country eats a few million birds, every single day. They're called chickens.

The chickens dont' have much of a choice. They're stuck in these warehouses, until they are slaughtered

But these birds in Canada, have nothing to complain about. If they don't like their situation, all they have to do is FLY - FLY - FLY away, someplace else. Go to Hawaii, Florida, South America

These wild Canadian birds shouldn't even be complaining.. If you don't like it - leave

  • Yeah, sure. Who gives a shit. And fuck all the other animals too. As long as that economy is growing, right? Fuck the animals. Fuck the natural world, who needs it.

  • @TheLiptonGroup

    Outstanding comment.

    DRT 2 OIL

    ALBERTA ROCKS !!!!!!

  • Poor birds. What will we ever do without them?

  • people are natural. so all what people do and produce is natural. the term "artificial" is completely idiotic. I dont care for people anway. They are stupid, ignorant, deluded, greedy apes who got too good tools. All have begun with the false assumption that human beings and animals are different.

  • Like Jim Morrison would say... What have we done to the earth????

  • Well actually, I live in Manitoba. Why don't you focus on your own countries problems.

  • Its obvious to me, judging by some of the comments, some people do not understand that the boreal forest is the home and breeding grounds to many millions of North American songbirds and the Oil Sands are a Strip Mining as well as Polluting Venture destructive to local native people,as well as fish, bird and various animal life) This mass pollution and ecological destruction has to stop, its insane!

  • you honestly think that all the oil is extracted through strip mining? Do some research you fucktard before you spew you hippie thoughts. All the cities in the North America would dwarf the size of the strip mining operations in place now and in the future. But not a peep from hippies like you to tare down the cities. But then you would not have a Starbucks to go to so you could have your lattes

  • i think you are communicating like an ignorant hostile idiot who knows nothing about me and concludes shit which is what you spew and it doesn't even make sense and it is you who has not done any research, get off the dope!

  • Have you been up there? Have you seen what it looks like?? Instead of spewing your explitives and hate, why don't you think about what we are doing to the planet. Os does that simple not matter to you?

  • But what would you do against a tv-ad-cotrolled society which likes iPods more than birds? The answer of nature will come. And I can't wait to hear it.

  • People complain about how terrible the oil sands are because the media shows everyone this big black pit full of tractors and says 'the oilsands are ruining the environment' but Alberta has the best environmental program of all the provinces, and there are loads of reforestation projects and other measure taken by the Alberta government to minimize the impact of the sands. Less long term damage is being done by the oilsands than the manufacturing industry.

  • If you think that thousands and thousands of acres of forest are going to be strip mined without some very very serious environmental impacts, you are either ignorant or willfully ignorant. Come on, seriously. Less than a tenth of a percent of the mined area has been reclaimed to date. Millions of gallons of poluted water are left in retention ponds, and there are documented cases of it being released into the watershed. This is our home. We only have one. Where does it end???

  • we're screwing up the planet! HELP!

  • thank-you! this gave me all the info needed for my science report :D

  • Too sad about the birds, and it seems this project will not stop

  • and how many birds are killed hitting sky scrapers each year? probably well over 5000 a day!

  • are you stupid or what? birds can see skyscrapers and they dont migrate through city you dumbass

toxics in water are invisible. you should bath yourself in it and see what happen..

  • OK it is FACT that thousands of birds die each year from hitting buildings. A sprouce grouse hit the window of my house a few months ago and died (No probably not migratory birds but isn't a bird a bird or do you enviro nuts play favorites with birds)

Yes toxins in water are invisible thank you for the science class. All I'm trying to say is that the place was obviously "toxic" well before man came to this earth... so arnt the oil sand companies doing us a favor by cleaning this place up.......
