This is my first video watching GB inform the audience about something in the news. I'm not surprised that people who watch his show for news have a backwards view of the world. Very fitting of Beck's ideas.
The people who made the previous comments sound like the same people who gave us Obama. See what that got us and now they're trying to do it with the internet. Create an emergency where there is none, then opt for government take over to fix the mythical problem, pure Alinsky.
I don't know if he is completely wrong guys, I know Glenn Beck is a moron, but i think he has a point. Do you really want the federal government and the FCC to regulate our internet?
Think of it this way guys.. if the the Gov regulates the companies then that means they are the CEO's of the internet and they have the right to censore anything they find unapropriate to the masses like they do to us with television and radio.
Honestly, i don't know about u but i hate having my shows censored.
"They want to guarantee that everyone has access to broadband internet" <-- Nothing to do with Network Neutrality.
"The short term impact is that things won't work as well, because you won't have as much competition" <-- This is the exact OPPOSITE of the truth. Net-neutrality protects against anti-competitive practices. Not to mention that right now we are on a network-neutral internet!
And all of this content regulation crap is just BACKWARDS. Net-Neutrality requires content agnosticism!!!!
Good luck in fighting this corporate tyrannical propaganda. This and the bullshit spewed by the tea-partiers and their neo-neo-conservative movement is exactly what will turn the nation of the free into the worlds most dangerous corporate run/military tyranny with rotational presidents selected by the corporate elites. You're not quite there yet but you are so close it is scary. If it happens, with your huge military and aggression a world war 3 is inevitable. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE STOPPED.
This man and his insane amount of influence is dangerous! He is either being duped because he is thick as pig shit and really believes this and all his other capitalist propaganda nonsense or he is being payed off and knows exactly what he is doing which I think would make him an evil megalomaniac. Either way it's truly scary, and from where I am in the UK i feel sorry for all those Americans who aren't fooled by this propaganda for having to have it be so influential.
This Glenn is so ridiculous... Conservatives were against freedom of the press and freedom of speech for a long time... And now they are against freedom in Internet? The right wing in America is full of ppl with mental issues. Glenn Beck deservs a Straitjacket not a tv show...
Glenn Beck wants to give private multinational corporations the freedom to regulate your internet.Which means companies will have the freedom to censor what you see or say because you didn't install the internet cable yourself.
Beck only believes in negative freedoms and corporate freedoms.
Glenn Beck is making me RAGE over his view that Net Neutrality is a liberal agenda over big corporations. Net Neutrality was ALWAYS in place since the privatization of the internet, as an act of good faith by the ISPs - until AT&T and Verizon violated this good faith recently and has blocked various sites they have disagreed with. We need the government to keep the status-quo on the internet - something ISPs do NOT want!
Typical - when faced with the truth and facts, all some people can do is to sling mud and call nasty names like schoolyard bullies. Have you ever heard the saying "the truth hurts". Keep calling names and see where you end up-not in paradise on earth I guarantee.
Wow. That Glenn Beck clip was scary. That's only the second time I've ever watched him. Phil Kerpen has stained himself by associating with Glenn. Phil Kerpen's comments seemed like normal arguments that someone might make when discussing the proper role of government. Glenn Beck then goes off trying to make it all seem like a Communist plot: he puts someone's picture next to Mao Zedong's and waits 5 seconds for a phone call refuting his accusation.
They say one thing and mean just the opposite. Listen to the clip again. Mark Lloyd says the danger is: big companies should be kept in check, so keep it the way it is now; neutral. HE doesn't want control. He wants to insure free access to us all. Beck is the one who puts the "control" word in his mouth.
Beck is attempting to confuse us into giving up OUR rights as citizen users so they, big companies, can have more authority. Why? How is that to our benefit?
big companies with authority.... you mean they're going to tax us? throw us in jail if we break the law? we're going to vote for who runs the big companies? they're going to be able to declare war? OH NO! The fact is that the WORST thing that they can do is create a monopoly of sorts, which can EASILY be taken care of.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Advocates of Net Neutrality are like the fat slobs at all-you-can-eat restaurants, when they get pissed because the restaurant owner cuts them off...It has nothing to do with free speech. Why should I have to wait an extra minute to get to my hotmail, just so rich geeks can download bootleg copies of Star Wars in 30 seconds?
@Pv8man Here's the problem: not all internet traffic is created equal. If you treat it all equally, you run into latency. When you do something simple (say, download a small file) you won't notice a tiny bit of latency. On the other hand, when you stream video or play a game, latency will drive you crazy.
The answer is EQUAL ACCESS, not equal packet flow. Net neutrality should be about guaranteeing subscribers have access to everything rather than having equal transfer speeds.
I think you are confusing what I am saying when I mean equal packet treatment, I mean that (along with guaranteeing equal access to everything) also preventing ISPs from moving to a two "pipe" system, where only major sites like CNN.com or FOXnews.com would pay lots of money to ISPs for their websites to load very quick, and all other sites that do not pay extra money will be put in the slow lane.
and when I say slow lane, I mean it will be ridiculously, frustratingly slow.
Besides those two things, there are many other sorts of mischief they could get into if the existing neutrality laws in the "Telecommunications act of 1996" are completely undermined by ISPs
for example, google "Nebu AD spying" and read all about it, it's already been going on for 3 years now.
net neutrality would prevent ISP's from privileging one internet traffic over any others.
All traffic would be treated equal, the way it is not and should remain.
But AT&T and Comcrap don't like that, they want to interfere with the internet traffic so they can profit from it in any way possible, like what they have been trying so hard to do.
take your tech advise from a real techie like me, not a politician or a news pundit.
he was right about those emails from that climate research email hack. what I don't like about Net Neutrality legislation, is it inserts the government further in to a place it doesn't belong. I work for a Canuck ISP, we are wary of potential effects or fallout from whatever bill gets passed. I am confident that overt manipulation from ISPs will lead to diminished patronage, and financial trouble.
You must not be a Christian. If you don't agree with him then just leave it at that and don't agree. He's not in the government with any power, he's just an OPINION show host. He's just a citizen with a radio and tv show. It's what America is all about, free speech.

Jesus christ.....what an idiot.
Net Neutrality has nothing to do with limiting free speech.
It is a bill that would prevent ISP's (AT&T, Comcast, Verizon)
from discriminating one traffic over another.
It would make them treat ALL internet traffic as equal, the way it is now(for now) and the way it should remain.
