nice fish! how long do you think i could keep a baby clown knife (3 in.) in a 46 gallon bow front with a 7 in. Senegal bichir and 4 in. id shark? how fast do they grow? how often do you feed clown knifes?
hey, i have a 200 gallon tank, i have a clown knife, parrot fish, HUGE goldfish, koi, oscars, jack dempsies, pleco, baby convicts, auratus, silver dollars, HUGE red devils, gourami, and a eel. Is this okay? Ive had this for awile now, nothings happened...
i hav heard that the clown knife likes stagnant water ..... anyone noes whther they can live without any oxygen pump in the tank ?????? wil these eat the commercial pellets of fish food or do they like bloodworm ??????? is is there that these fish eat during the dark time only ???
they can live without extra oxygen yes, they go up to the surface and gulp air from time to time.
they should eat both, mine likes pellets and shrimp the most.
yes they like it better to eat after dark, they are mostly nocturnal but that also depends on the individual fish, this one is also active during the day but i had others that were not.
Ya my nocturnal fish eat whenever I feed them. The lights in the tank are bright but they don't seem to mind though. My fire eel is a picky eater though :(
I want to buy a black ghost knife next but heard they can get aggressive.
They are nocturnal, very shy and do not like community tanks. They will also shy away from you when you approach the tank too quickly. The more spots they have the older they are, this is certainly older than one year. The more in line their spots are, the better their price too.
thanks for your input but mine were fine in a community tank. I had three but sold two of them (including this one) and only kept one. That one is not so shy and does not go away when i approach the tank.
More spots does not make them older, they dont get more and more spots over time, i raised this one and know how old he is, he is just as old as the others, that have fewer spots and he had all those spots when he was small :)
Dont know what lumps you are talking about, but they are all healthy. I have 3 CK´s. I feed mostly shrimp but also pellets and various meaty stuff. Filteration is 2xEheim proII 2028. Tank is 200G/720L
I have my clown in a 6x2x2,filterd by 2fluval fx5s/2 large power heads/and a eheim 2217 classic with diffuser,i feed him king prawns and pellets,Hes GROWING quick!hes about 18inch at the mo.Anyway NICE FISH.
Nice clown, looks like hes breathing a bit heavy though, what are those little lumps on his side??what you feeding him??whats your filtration??eheim canisters??what size tanks he in??Anyway NICE FISH.

My knife fish is about 30-35cm, ive try'd to dim the lights, but it wont come out, fucking boring fish,
Ylofen 4 years ago
well they are mostly nocturnal...
how big is the tank?
andripogo 4 years ago
That is the most boring fish in the world, it never shows up in my tank.
Ylofen 4 years ago
try to dim the lights, those fish dont like bright lights in most cases. One of mine is out all the time, the other two only when i dim the lights.
They also get more outgoing when they get bigger.
