@PeanyTech Liberty Island is indeed on the NJ side of the Hudson, you're right about that, but Liberty Island is considered NYC territory. It's all confusing, stupid court orders and such make things confusing.
12And he took away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made. 13And also Maachah his mother, even her he removed from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.
@kingzxcvbnm1 And as you may no the Colossus of Rhodes had no internal skeleton like the Satatue of Liberty and was brought down by an earthquake less than a century after its completion. Gustav Eiffel must have known this and designed liberty's skeleton so she would stand much longer.
@faithF8 actually, i think oceania is a continent because if they said australia instead of oceania, then people might think that oceania is owned by australia. Oceania is like australia, new zealand, fiji, indonesia, and papua new Guinea. my opinion.
some quick GEO101 : for something to be a continent, it has to be a huge landmass. Oceania considers islands, it is a REGION in the Pacific. Australia is a CONTINENT (and a country ofc). You can consider Australia as a part of that region, but you *cannot* consider Oceania as a continent. I hope that makes things clearer ;)
@SavageArms357 Yup, the torch on the statue now is actually the 2nd torch it replaced the first one in 1986, 100 years after the completion of the statue. The original torch is on display on the island. So I assume in 2086 the torch may be replaced again. And yes the Statue of Liberty was constructed 110 years after the birth of the United States in1886 so 2086 will also be the 310th birthday of the U.S.
@lennex88 yea, when it was pure copper, do some damn research before you start calling names. Now, if they refurbish it, only the edge of the statue will be the copper color, and the inside of the crust will still be green. So less copper=less time to turn oxidize.
@Blindianboy what turns copper green is something called patina which essentially eats away at the copper, however, after a certain amount is eaten through it stops. To reveal the original color of copper underneath, the layer of patina has to be taken off which removes the copper itself and allows allows only for more patina to develop on the surface. This would process would eventually render the statue just a plinth because there would be no copper left after this cycle was repeated.
@lgvereor thats true, the Statue of Liberty would be beautiful if it was made of limestone. In elementary school i thought it was made of stone instead of copper >.>

Oceania is a geographic region. Australia is a continent because it is of tectonic origin. Google It.
