One God Almighty, one religion islam. Where so ever you are turn you faces towards qibla. and perform prayers. Allah almighty knows who is rightly guided. After a matter is set by Allah Almighty, Anyone who comes with something else is a transgressor. Allah almighty knows best.
Imam Ahmad relates from Anas (Allah be well pleased with him), with a chain of transmission all of whose narrators are those of Bukhari except Hammad ibn Salama, who is one of the narrators of Muslim, that
the Ethiopians danced in front of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace); dancing and saying, "Muhammad is a righteous servant." (Musnad al-Imam Ahmad. 6 vols. Cairo 1313/1895. Reprint. Beirut: Dar Sadir, n.d.., 3.152).
so???? i never knew that dancing is one of the way to please Muhammad s.a.w...its not in hajj...not a zikir...and trully, not a form of salat...this dervishes can be hypnotised by the dance moves if i'm not mistaken...
Hence the Hadith 'Actions are judged by their intentions'.
I posted this Hadith to show that there is a legitimate opinion that dancing is seen as permissable in Islam for either worshipping Allah (SWT) or praising the Prophet (SAWS). Even someone who performs Salah can do it just to impress other people, which makes that person's Salah become 'minor' shirk. The same can be applied to the twirling dervishes.
