very cool I have been looking into dome homes for about 2 yrs now and i am going to make the investment, I live in a log home now in central Idaho and sweat the fire season coming every year.. after a chimney fire last year it made up my mind, I am going with a custom earth bermed Dome made with off the shelf designs and a few twists of my own.. I am convinced that the more disasters happen in the world the more people will look into building these homes
This is good sense.... and will save trees..... and another way communities could get together and make a home that would out last all of us by digging up mud and clay and mixing with straw making bricks and all shaping them in to any structure you design.... All made of nature ..... it should be they way our communities make homes and if you need and extra room then get the family to the yard and dig mix and make your extra room yourself. and No Insulation Needed.
Well I hope people begin to wake up to the importance of a monolithic dome. Maybe it will happen in hurricane areas first, where people can see for themselves how they withstand wind. And how you don't have to worry about roofs bearing the load of snow because of the type of structure this is. Evolution in thought is slow for most. It takes disaster after disaster for people to grow the cajones to think differently. FEMA already knows about these, yet we keep building boxes in hurricanes!
I can get a loan for any stick built home around here even if it is beyond my means but this simple affordable dome is out of reach for now.
Why bc I have to save and build it myself no financing for domes.
Sadly they can't sell the sticks they are building yet build more but I don't want that type of house and refuse to buy a stick that will not out live my daughter or her future children.
Don't be stuck on a stick! BUILD a DOME for your childrens sake and their childrens sake!
If we could only get investors to understand the facts presented in this video we who are holding out for a dome home but have no financing would have ready investors.
Glad to see this video especially the wild fire home in CA you never know when your area could be subject to wildfire. All it takes is a dry spell.
In Ca they need to burn regularly so the fuel doesn't build up.
Love cloud hidden it is a masterpiece.
There are so many things you can do with domes ;love them.
My dream home would indeed be a monolithic dome. Specifically, an earth-bermed passive solar monolithic dome. The idea is to completely eliminate ALL heating/cooling/ventilation costs and it can easily be done with this type of structure. I realize that earth-berming isn't needed, but I want a green roof and only a monolithic dome can support the extra weight without any issues. It really is the perfect structure and I wish every building was a monolithic dome.
