@pathaanxx The mess he left is what you're seeing this season. The signs were there last season that this would happen. A fair portion of the £200,000,000 debt was down to Rafa. He incurred an £80,000,000 transfer deficit as previously mentioned and then of course there was all the inflated wages etc. Not to mention that he's filled the academy with no-hopers from Spain. I said at the start of this season we should have not sacked Rafa because he would have been found out for what he is.

The team in 05 was one of the worst we've had since the 90s.Traore, Smicer, Biscan, Nunez, Kewell, Le Tallec etc. None of them would get anywhere near the team now. Only Rafa could have pulled it off with that team. In 2007 when we got to the final again there were only about 4 or 5 players from that team left.
I somehow doubt we would've won it in 05 if Houllier had still been in charge with his negative long ball football. Rafa=legend.

I think a lot of people commenting here should take a look at their understanding of the club. Rafa did buy a lot but he usually had to sell in order to buy with the exception of the summer in 2007 and 2008. He also sold players higher than what he got them for (crouch, bellamy, arbeloa, xabi, etc). I would agree that he's made some abysmal decision in the past but he was the one that took us bak to the top..

@pathaanxx The mess he left is what you're seeing this season. The signs were there last season that this would happen. A fair portion of the £200,000,000 debt was down to Rafa. He incurred an £80,000,000 transfer deficit as previously mentioned and then of course there was all the inflated wages etc. Not to mention that he's filled the academy with no-hopers from Spain. I said at the start of this season we should have not sacked Rafa because he would have been found out for what he is.

The team in 05 was one of the worst we've had since the 90s.Traore, Smicer, Biscan, Nunez, Kewell, Le Tallec etc. None of them would get anywhere near the team now. Only Rafa could have pulled it off with that team. In 2007 when we got to the final again there were only about 4 or 5 players from that team left.
I somehow doubt we would've won it in 05 if Houllier had still been in charge with his negative long ball football. Rafa=legend.

I think a lot of people commenting here should take a look at their understanding of the club. Rafa did buy a lot but he usually had to sell in order to buy with the exception of the summer in 2007 and 2008. He also sold players higher than what he got them for (crouch, bellamy, arbeloa, xabi, etc). I would agree that he's made some abysmal decision in the past but he was the one that took us bak to the top..
