Why is the man in black evil? The island has driven him insane. He just wants to go home. No evidence is given that the world would end if he were allowed.
Ben and Richard are more evil. They gassed an entire village of others instead of trying to maintain the treaty.
So why is the MIB evil? I guess he's evil because the writers ran out of ideas for new antagonists.
It's ABSURD. Absurd! to expect the audience to just assume that Flocke leaving the island would mean the apocalypse. WHY would him leaving be bad?! You have to set up the god damn stakes Lost! I guess a smoke monster flipping around cars on the free way would suck, but I don't see why that's so bad.
No. He's not. He kills to get his way, but so do MANY of the characters on lost. Jacob apparantly ordered the gassing of the Dharma folks. That makes him SIGNIFICANTLY worse than the MiB.
@MattAlbie Everything Jacob did was to protect the Island because without it MiB and the evil pool he paddled in would be free. DHARMA were screwing with the Island even though Alpert allowed them to be there on the condition that they do some research and then leave - Alpert tried to sort things out peacefully but was left with no choice after DHARMA refused to leave (Alpert was under Jacob's orders). If MiB wasn't evil then why would Jacob go through all that just to keep him trapped?
@whichoney Watch the scene with Jacob talking to Richard. "The writers ran out of ideas"? Smokey has been around since episode 1. They gassed Dharma because they kept violating the truce and posed a threat to the Island.

@MattAlbie MiB is evil (after his encounter with the 'Heart Of The Island'). If you pay attention to season 6 you would know that.

I always thought the music when flocke enters Claire's hideout (just listen to that piece as he walks in; slowmo style!) was flocke's theme.

If you listen carefully - the underlying melody is actually a variation on Locke's 'Locked' Out Again' theme. Just darker and twisted.

@Moollii It should be called "Locke'd In Forever", or "Locke'd In Indefinitely".
