I bought a Zune HD a couple of months back after my zen died. I hate apple. I can honestly say i am very disappointed in the zune HD. Things i hate are: 1. when i try to scroll to the next song most of the time i get the volume control to pop up. Microsoft knew this problem and made a quick exit. As a developer myself this is bad to mix the two. 2. the headphone jack at bottom. 3.clock screen you have to scroll up every time you lock the device. 4. you cannot see the screen outside in sunlight.

2. The headphone jack is really a small problem. If you're saying you want it at the top, the iPod Touch has it at the bottom as welll. If you wanted it on the other side, well that's very trivial.

3. The iPod Touch has a scroll to unlock screen as well; I don't understand why that is a huge problem that Microsoft screwed up.

4. It's an OLED screen. Of course it'll be hard to see outside. Inside, however, it is beautiful to look at.

Since, im so against mainstream stuff. Anyways, i can see way easier with it outside and the scroll unlock is way easier to use. I like the scroll right not scroll up. All in all i like the ipod touch way more. My zune just sits now. the headphone jack is trivial. take care.. i miss the pins though.

@neilhatesyou I actually use my Zune HD for all my media playback, and my iPod touch for apps and internet.

It helps with the battery life for both. Zune HD seems to fail with Apps and Internet, which I don't use very often, and iPod touch battery sucks in general if you do too much stuff on it.

Even though I love my Zune HD more than my iPod touch, I still can't live without my iPod, because Apps are just very practical and cool to have.

I've always prefered the Zune products over Ipod. I like the Ipods, but seriously, the Zune is a lot better in my opinion. I've had my 4gb Zune for a long time (going to two years) and love it. I have, like 1 more gig left in it and I seem to have so many songs in it., including 20 videos. I can't wait to get the Zune HD. MS will probably use the Zune HD for their Portable games that were on the DS. But alas, they might not. I'm going to customize my own Zune HD ;)

After the success of Novell, Microsoft created a preferred clone of their product and shut them down. After seeing the iPod succeed that much, they came up with the Zune and the Zune HD is Microsoft's idea of an iPod Touch.

you will definitely not be able to use itunes. haha. you'd have to download the zune program but you don't have to drag and drop anything. when you install and open zune it automatically searches your computer for music, videos, and pictures so all you have to do is sit back and let zune do the work.

I got the iTouch when it came out cause i thought it was the shit but it was very glitchy and hard to understand at first, plus the keyboard was hard to get used to :P then i got the Zune HD cause it seemed alot more reliable and so far I've already gotten used to scrolling through menus and using the keyboard. Plus it even has Apps on it like the iTouch. It has everything the iTouch does plus a built in HD Radio so i know for a fact that Zune has just kicked even the 3rd Gen iTouch in the balls

The web browser will not support flash when it is released which means it cant run youtube or pandora. Flash support can and most likely will be added in via a firmware update later though.

the 16gb zune hd is cheaper than the 8gb second-generation ipod touch. it has an hd radio, HD output @720p, OLED screen and you don't feel so imprisoned as you would with an ipod touch. TRUST ME, i know because i have a jail broken ipod touch and i STILL feel like I'm limited (don't really use). if you're deciding which to buy... i would either get the Zune HD when it comes out, or wait late this year or early next for ipod touch 3g with cam and mic (pretty much 2g).
