If the US hadn't joined, Germany would have had that extra time to build up their jet fighter fleet and once again, have the upper-hand against the allies.

Your wrong. If I was a solider, and my superiors were telling me to do shit that I KNEW was immoral (like killing innocent people), I would not follow orders just cause its my job. Fuck my job when innocent people are at risk. I would rather die than kill other innocent people. I would quit if I was told to do something I thought was wrong.
