I think valve is trying to mess with us. Also think of it this way, the entire TF2 team is male, so valve makes a character that is a gender neutral ( or as close as possible) so everyone has someone to relate to on the team. That doesn't mean the Pyro is a woman, it just means no one knows what gender the Pyro is. I consider the Pyro ambiguous. as in the gender changes everyonce in awhile. If you check the character description when picking characters in a gae, it should swap between "Try HIM out," or "Try HER out."

They've referred to Pyro as a "she" as well (edited quickly and replaced with Proper nouns (Pyro's only called Pyro now, no pronouns)), so things like pronouns offer no further insight, especially old ones.

And do you mean guide book or manual? Cause the guide book isn't written by Valve.

What I'm saying is some facts become invalid after a time period. In this case there's contradicting facts: Pyro has been referred to as both a he and a she. Either they're messing with us for the sake of the fan-base, or they're planning to overturn it all and start calling Pyro a girl.

Keep in mind the manual is the oldest reference for this, so it'd be easy to be overturned, and any strategy guides aren't even legitimate.
