I like the idea of this movie, because it is one of the few (if not the only) films of its kind, shown from the perspective of the "bad guy" rather than the hero. It really brings a lot of humanity to a character that, had we known he was a killer from the start, we might not have cared to think of as human at all :( To me, it's everything a movie should be - it evokes emotion, and teaches a valuable lesson about human fragilty </3

Was a cool movie and always good to point out the other side.

The killers of Jamie bulger where not necessarily evil people and the public should be ashamed of the way they treated those kids. They did a terrible, terrible thing, but they were still kids.

It would be different if Jon was not continuing to break the law with disgusting acts such as possesion of child pornography, fighting, alcoholism and drug abuse.

And from what i know neither of the pair have given a direct apology to the mother for the murder.

One of the most unknown and beautiful movies I ever saw. Mullan is awesome and Garfield is just perfect, never over the top, just perfect in all his frailty. It questions the mob-lynching mentality, the lack of cold reasoning judgment and how media and shitty tabloids can make people hating two children for a crime while forgetting that there are millions of children dying everyday in Africa (but well, the media coverage is less importante in their case...). The book is also wonderful.

I think that Boy A was well done, but it wasn't the best movie I've seen. I felt like it was too short and some storylines could have been more developed. I also think that Michelle and Jack had zero chemistry, but that's probably because I'm jealous that she got to make out with Andrew Garfield. His performance in the movie was endearing and he did a stellar job of portraying Jacks's emotions. The ending was def. heartbreaking, though it would been sadder if the trailer didn't give it away!!!

Totally agreed, The movie was beautiful, although based on a sinister subject and elements from the Jamie Bulger case in '92.

I have watched it a couple of times now for uni and it is almost lyrical, haunting and painful for the Jack wanting to make a new life.

Andrew Garfield rightly deserved the BAFTA.

It is amazing but the end makes me angry how his girlfriend and best friend turned their backs on him and he was made out to be some kind of monster for what he did as a NEGLECTED little child just following a friend who was the only person who ever paid attention to him. No one would even let him explain or tell his side of the story.
