  • just wow, chills chills chills, boooooooooooom

Worth the trip, man! Worth a LOT

  • Siiiiiick!!!! never heard of these cats....

  • billy martin is way too sloppy for me, and i prefer chris wood on acoustic basses... that said, im enjoying this..

  • The person who disliked is a whiney bitch

  • increible

  • I do not like this. I LOVE this, I may start stalking this.

  • one person just likes to be contrary

  • Sadly, 1 person is deaf.

  • @russmanja - whiney bitch even :)

  • @russmanja Hey dude will you coach our Odyssey of the Mind team

  • 3:20 love it

  • 1 person thought this was a porn movie!

  • 1 person thought this was a porn movie!

  • MOAR BASS

  • Smooove!

  • 3 talented dudes; no doubt!

  • damn what time is this? i think i can feel the one but i sure as shit cant seem to count it

  • @saminthescamp It's in 5. Tap your thumb on what you think is the down beat, then move through the 4 other fingers and the thumb should coincide with the next lower bass note. At least most of the time... ;-)

  • @saminthescamp its odd because its grouped like 4+1 rather than the typical 3+2 your hear in 5

  • I like there music alot but they need to diversify their sound all their songs sound the same

  • @Gradey3 Derek trucks can't blow with Medeski. I'm a big brothers fan and enjoy his playing.... But Trucks is a one-dimensional player. I think the trio works perfectly.. Especially when Medeski approximates a guitar on the clav while playing Hammond. That gives it that extra fullness you're talking about.

  • @FunkMartian

saying Derek is a one dimensional player is blasphemous. That man works a slide like no one ever has and if you listen to his work, you'll see a wide variety of sounds. He is definitely a great guitar player, man.

  • @Gradey3 i agree completely. i love a lot of their stuff, but something is just missing.

  • @Gradey3 Completely wrong. Possibly you need to listen to more of their stuff, especially Radiolarians.

  • they really need scofield with them. I need somethin else to fill the gap between just the bass, drums , and keyboard. Really tho i think derek trucks would be amazing with these guys.

  • @Gradey3 Trios sometimes lack the girth and fullness needed, but I prefer them without Scofield, Medeski is a bit of a scatterbrain which doesn't always work out with scofield, but as a trio they can shift into different realms with so much fluidity

  • WOW

  • midi is great when combined with the analog, a very powerful tool

  • These cats really possess talent and creativity. Awesome performance from MMW

  • Rozpierdalacie mi głowe! Musicie byc z innej planety.

  • These guys are all bad, but John Medeski is the baddest dude on the planet.

  • Yeah Bacon,These guys should all have wallets that say "Bad Mutherfucker" on it!

  • Great retro keyboards with character.

    Death to MIDI !

  • john would agree with you! he uses all analog boards and hates anything digital! this is why is tone is so amazing.....although most of it has to do with the person creating that tone

  • i NEED this entire performance NOW - hook it to my veins!

  • amazing !

  • gives me goose bumps. one of my fav songs to dance to.

  • wood's shit, so nasty. :D

  • It's DEFINITELY a Wurlitzer.

  • diggin that bass solo at the end...

  • wurli

  • far out, is that one spacey tone the bleeding keyboard? i know medeski plays that from time to time, i love how he picks the sickest tones, textures, and timbres

  • I can't figure out WTF time signature this song is in. Any help? It seems to switch a lot.

  • Hard to follow 'em, isn't it? It sounds to me like there are three different sections to this one: the first I think is in 7, the second one's in 5/4, and the last one's in 6/8. At least that's my best guess, anyway.

  • Actually, I take that back. The first section's in 5/4, too. This one's in 5/4 but has one section that's in 6/8.

  • I was thinking 7 at first too, but you're right it is 5/4. Hard to tell 'cause Wood is so deep in the pocket!

If you listen closely to the drums, and let the bass just kind of float in and out, you can feel the 5/4.

  • sick, sick, sick.

  • damn they know how to make 5/4 groove like no one else!

  • so so awesome. His wurli sounds so phat! Got to be a tube pre.

  • Its a rhodes, look at the black case.

  • I hate to be that guy/dork, but it is most certainly a wurlitzer 200 or 200A. The tone quality alone is very different than that of a Rhodes. True, the Rhodes is usally in a black case, but the body style is very different. I've only seen 1 video of Medeski playing a rhodes.

  • Sorry, im not an expert, im only 13.

  • Much respect to you man. When I was 13 I didn't even know what a Rhodes was let alone MMW. You already know a lot more about this than probably anyone your age. rockon

  • Thanks, i just know this cause im a fan of vintage instruments and playing piano and hammond organ (M3).

  • check out the carvings on medeski's wurly next time you see him live

  • Sorry, rim shot! I'm fraid that's a Fender Rhodes 73, with a little outboard overdrive and compression. Not a wurly by a long shot.

  • No, I'm sorry rim job. First of there is an 'a' in afraid, and unfotunately, I'm afraid you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. Look at 4:17, do you see the three latches on the back? Those are the lid hinges for a wurlitzer 200 series. Plus last time I checked (on the wulritzer and Rhodes that I have and play regularly) there is not the metal strips around the bottom where the lid connects to the bottom base. Not a rhodes by long shot, the tone by itself should tell you that.

  • No need to get all rim rim job about things. Rim shot was a soft jab; come on.

'fraid' is an intentional colloquialism intended to impart a humoristic attitude into an otherwise emotionally ambiguous blurb.

You are right about the keyboard.

And I do know my ass from a hole in the ground. I've never owned a Wurly, but my Mark I Rhodes can produce a net tonality that is conspicuously close to the low-fi overdriven sound of the wurly on this video, when processed as I suggested.

  • Hey Twatatouille. So because this jam isn't 4/4 and the melody isn't formulaic and predictable you don't understand it and therefore it's crap? Stay away from advanced musical concepts before you hurt yourself. I don't think your brain can handle it without shorting synapses and causing a meltdown.

  • touche, diesel.

  • just ignore the "whiney bitches" :)

  • Chris Wood has a sweet sounding and looking Fender P bass. I'm more of a Lakland type of guy, but his bass is certainly top of the line.

  • It does refer to Bitches Brew I guess

  • Or On The Corner...

  • perfecto es la rola del año me fasina

  • deep bass route, nice jive. Love these guys! only saw them once wish it was again and again....

  • You just have to open up you musical mind and you will hear the great rythem and how they all work together

  • I guess for you anything more complicated than the "We will rock you" groove seems unmusical or "out of time". This is great stuff... if you can understand it.

  • pretty good sense of rhythm you have. mmw are fucking awesome.

  • Wow, I wish you were able to give MMW some musical lessons, at least then they would be able to have rhythm, right?

  • haha you're cute

    enjoy your soulja boiiii

  • "whiney bitch" eh? :)

  • It's a shame that you don't have the capacity to appreciate sophisticated music.

  • their drummer sure loves that clanky sound...it's awesome

  • ha, chris is wearing a sun ra t shirt.

  • saw this in j ville.

    quite the melody.

    its on note blue

  • i would have never guessed that this song would be available on t mobile. it really is though and now its my ring tone. of course its the studio version.

    gets me every time.

  • what's on his wurly? an arp pro soloist mark II?

  • oh a solina string ensemble, never mind

  • is the drummer wearing pants?!

  • most don't.

  • hey now, i wear pants on at LEAST 60% of my gigs... maybe even 80.

  • haha i was questinaing that myself but you see if from a different angle and he is... or maybe just single legged pants?

  • I was thinking, I'd love to have that keyboard rig--then I realized, how the h--l would I haul it around! Those vintage keys are heavy biatches!

  • Oh boy, so good, so fluent, so tight, so (seemingly) effortless... Thanks for the video - you get to see John's hands playing up close, what a treat !

  • i need to get one of these guys' albums because all the songs i have listened to by them are really good. Everyone in this trio is an excellent musician and it just makes the music that much better

  • Hey, thanks fro posting the video, its great. Anyone know if this song is from any album? Ir is it a cover? Thanks!

  • It's the last track on the Japanese printing of "End of the World Party." My buddy has it on vinyl.

  • Anyone know if this song is from any album? Or it is a cover from other group? Thanks.

  • Amazing. Totally out of that 70's Miles/Headhunters vibe. It's just effortless for these guys.

  • awesome

  • This song is entitled Whiney Bitches, not Queen Bee

  • whos's who? (sry my nooby quistion..) but didn't know them before this.. (they nice!)

  • John Medeski on keys, Chris Wood on bass, the one and only Billy Martin on drums!

  • okay, thanks alot!

  • they are heroes

  • medeski goin nuts, lovin it
