Water Park ?? Money Down The Drain We Have Lost Too Many Beautiful Buildins To Concrete Buildings . I Agree Bradford Is Now A Dump Don't Wonder Bradford is Dying Everyone Has Moved To Leeds They Still Have Beautiful Buildings & Their Market .Bradford Town Centre Has Been Murdered
THIS BUILDING WANTS REFURBISHING,,ITS PART OF BRADFORDS HERITAGE..BUT NO THEY WILL SPEND MILLIONS ON A WATER FEATURE OPPOSITE,,WICH IS NICE AND MODERN,THINK WHAT THE ODEON WOULD LOOK LIKE DONE UP..........
If you want to keep this beautiful building standing, now is the time to act. The council have plans for two more retail monoliths to add to the Jury's Inn and guess where they are located? There's a model of steel and glass in town hall where the Odeon should be.
What a dump bradford is now ~ just look at Duckworth lane It was like Harrogate Beautiful up market shops & stores Everything just Gone No Public house's no where to meet ? just alane of takeaways
I'm not familiar with Bradford but this has the potential to be a fine flagship building for the city as it was back in the 1930s and the fact they are pissing it away really irks me.
The plasterwork details on the restaurant ceilings and alcove are really well worked and the ballroom looks great too .
Hope the fat cats see some sense. There are a few options, outst the farts and get in some new blood, that will TRULY stand for Bradford's hopes of the future. People are blind when there's money in front of them.. I sincerely hope the Odeon gets saved, with all my heart!
It could be magnficent. Needs saving and using properly as a venue that is better than anything anywhere near. Have some ******* vision for once Bradford.
I thought for a while that the council's desire to demolish the Odeon was misguided. I believe now that it's abuse of power and corruption, and that the demolition would make some people some money. Even Private Eye magazine have featured it twice. It's a beautiful building and should be preserved. Bradford Council's track record on the city centre is appalling - going back to the 60s and 70s even. they should be held accountable. IT'S OUR CITY!!! oo I'm so angry.
This gives lie to the claims that the building is beyond recovery. Only an idiot cannot see the potential for this building located as it is alongside the Alhambra. But sadly we seem to have nothing but idiots in charge of Bradford's "regeneration". And don't let them try to blame the Broadway crater on the recession - that had all gone wrong well before then.
I bet if they restored it, they'd bring more tourists to that than the big stupid fucking pond theyre building. What a load of shit - looks amazing does that building!!!! xx
It needs to be restored to as it was when first built, a concert hall! In line with St Georges Hall, we have plen ty of parking in the area, and plenty of Bradfordians would pay to stay in the city to watch someone rather than travellig down to Manchester or Sheffield.
Damn the Bradford Council for wanting to destroy this magnificent building...Stop wasting money on stupid things and keep this building, restore it and make it profitable, use your imagination for once, take it back to its original format it would be great to have the class from the early years and to show it off to our grandchildren etc.
Great work fella,i say demolition of this building over my dead body. Are you listening Bradford Council, you vandals have done enough damage to our great City,no more will people stand by and watch your handy work.As a proud Bradfordian,i say restore the Odeon, make it into a world class concert /conferance hall.Bradford Council, you say you want more footfall into the City centre, wouldn't attracting top artists and bands do just that? Don't ignore the wishes of the vast majority of Bradfordians!!!

What was the response from the Overview & Scrutiny Committee? I would guess one of total indifference if it is anything like Calderdale's.

If it as possible, I'd help remove the boards and breeze blocks myself.

Very interesting indeed. Can't believe how well preserved the interior is.
