  • Farewell A340 Series

  • OMG What is that big black object on the ground following on take off

  • I cannot stand boeing 747's i think the engines are too weak!

  • bye bye shadow bye byyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeee, that's what i would say

  • Smooth As Silk ;-)

  • The design flaws of the flight software will kill passengers and crew. It is just a matter of time.

If there is one thing Airbus does poorly it is human-factors/ software interfacing.

  • @aky19832001 ....so says Boeing Marketing Manager

  • @CUGS2009 =)

  • Why do A-340's have 4 engines like a 747?

  • I love the A340-600. It's so long and hard... Wait that sounded wrong

  • I've taken a ride in a Lufthansa A346, nothing like a four engine ride in a single widebody ! very smooth, reminds me a lot to the B707.

  • Its so quiet

  • Thumbs up if u would prefer a ride in the a340-600 than the 777-300er

  • to say the truth this plane is long as hell

  • Hopefully I get to o to Europe next year and have some fun

  • WOW thats Nice!!!

  • Tolles video

  • wonderful video , though i wonder ...how much powerful are those wings made to hold of 4 jet engines..and this whole thing flies upto 40,000 feets incluing weather conditions.....what a engineering.

  • @nick22934 usually 150 times more than would occur in normal flight with casual turbulence. so basically a few hundred tonnes on each wing. two wings so i would say max load is around 800-1000 tonnes of pressure!.......

  • @MissThunderPuss Damn !!! And of which thing are these wings n frame made of?

  • @nick22934 well they are produced at broughton in north wales uk, and thats all I know!....... you are a pilot?......

  • @MissThunderPuss well not now...but wannabe. :D

  • @nick22934 me too!...... good luck it looks like such a fantastic job.

  • The best spooling up sound.

  • i have never flown before but it looks pretty good

  • @saxovtr2468 flying can be boring but takeoff and landing are great...... the smaller planes 757's in particular are so very powerful..... they pin you back in your seat on acceleration and they climb well fast

  • Ohh what a beautiful shadow !! =)

    1:27

    QUe bonita sombra de despegue!

  • Having flown 777 – 300 ER to St Lucia and 777 200 ER to the Maldives, I can confirm that the dreadful noise of the GE 115 is far worse than the Trent 895

  • @mike40842 i love the ge90 sound, you don't get the buzzsaw sound out of ge engine i find. are you a pilot then?

  • loving the shadow

  • good video :)

  • 346 is da best!

  • Very nice composition, getting lucky with the angle of the sun, to have the shadow of the Airbus being directly in your view through the climb out :)

  • it just takes off so graceful

  • I seriously just got an erection from hearing those engines... Wtf is wrong with me?

  • @gren240 Dude thats how I get when I hear United 777 takeoff with the P&W engines, lol

  • it was on a programme on sky airbus sunday it was, not sure what it was called and i heard the fuel efficiency side from Boeing direct

  • They need some ge-90's on that! It shouldn't take a minute+ to get off the ground.

  • Cool Video!!

Thai Airways are one of the worlds best airliners :)

  • Love the RR's, not a big fan of the A340-600 though, the 777-300 is better

  • haha!! i can see a little shadow of the plane on the grass haha cute!

  • Love that sound.

  • i luv every airline there is!

  • Not bad for take off. With an weight empty 177,000kg (390,220lb), and max takeoff 365,000kg (804,675lb), takeoff in 2400 mt ( 7930 feet ) it isn´t bad.

  • Anyone know what kind of enging the A-340 uses? They had a peculiar whine I'm not familiar with.

  • Four 249kN (56,000lb) Rolls-Royce Trent 556 turbofans.

  • and yet another minute long take off run by an A-340

  • @91Snyder - Yes, but unlike the -200/300 A340's, the -500/600 series isn't underpowered, and doesn't rely on the curvature of the Earth to gain altitude after wheezing itself into the air. Remember, the 600 is longer than a 747...

  • @petrhsr Its called reduced power takeoff, they never take off at full power.

  • @petrhsr a340-600 is longer than a a380!!!!!!!

  • @dilubabaya why didn't Airbus use the a340-600's fuselage and just add another deck and put new wings and engines along with a new interior. i heard Airbus are going to make a A380-1000 what will carry 1000 passengers, but the Boeing 747-8I is 11% more fuel efficient than a A380.

  • @guitarplayerforu where did you hear this from becuase they are planning to make a a350-1000

  • very nice! great video, love the shadow =)

  • Good seat, you can see both engines what seat is that?

  • nice vd love it

  • theres quite abit of wing bend.... awsome

  • Beautiful footage, especially the shadow of the plane on take off. Thanks for posting.

  • Not so, they're trent 500 series..

  • Incheon is right. They are Trent 553's, made by Rolls Royce.

  • @petrhsr you are soo right it is rr500

  • Hello!Nice video!Nice takeoff!=)

    5 star!=)

    Greeting TheCARRE74=)

  • I really think more airlines should order the airbus A340-600. It has very good range, does not burn a lot of fuel, and can carry a lot of passengers. (similar to a 747)

  • @arsenalboy19 I think Airbus really shot itself in the foot by limiting the engine options. With 747, 767, 777, and A330 you have the option of GE, PW, or RR whereas A340-600 only has Trent 500. But the plane looks/sounds awesome, it's long and lean and graceful. It's also rare, not something you see everyday like an extra regular 767. Absolutely my favorite jetliner EVER.

  • Where were you going to???

  • Bangkok

    duh

  • I love the sounds this aircraft makes. I've only been on one once, but it's a good plane.

  • This aircraft has a horrible climb rate! Lol!

  • Sorry mate, check a a340-300 or Fokker 50 take off!! :)

  • it's a big jet... carries lots of people and has a long range. the A340-600 carries almost 200,000L of fuel (over 52000 gal) which weighs over 144,000kg (316,000lb), representing almost 40% of it's MTOW. so imagine that the plane is burning probably 250,000lb of fuel in the air. it would climb much faster with less fuel.

  • the longest aircraft in the world. V. nice vid

  • NICE VID 5 STAR

  • i love this plane is so f**** nice

  • @dva511 SAME HI -5 !!

  • this is really cool plane the engine are very big and strong

  • B777 with RR Trent 800 has similar take off sound

  • @AugmentedB737 yah it does. they sound so similar.

  • @Ilivemindfreak LOVE ROLLS ROYCES THEY MAKE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SOUND THAT GROWLING SOUND GENERAL ELECTRICS SOUND DULL AND BORING

  • @AugmentedB737 Im going to guess it's because the A340-600 is powered by Trent engines, the trent 500. That line of engines make a very sexy sound! :D

  • @AugmentedB737 because this A340-600 is also powered by RR Power Plants

  • @AugmentedB737 B777-200,200ER&300 Only has similar take off sound.

  • @imtiaz90

I remember that sound indeed from a Vietnam Airlines 777 ( don't know what type ) but I hate the high pitch the sound has.

  • @MrRiot007 Vietnam Airlines Use GE90 Engines on their 777-200/200ER's.SQ,TG,MH,BA,AA Used RR Trent 800's on their 777-200 or 200ER's. (NOTE: Some BA 777 Use GE90 Engines on 777-200/200ER's.

  • @imtiaz90

I wonder why BA is used RR Trent 800 and GE90 aircraft b777?

(I like GE90 because safety ,performance and sound of engines )

  • @Centurypass It's because the 777-300ER only has one engine choice, the GE-90

  • look at my videoclip search this:

Boeing 747 Thai Airways take of (Arlanda Airport)

  • do exhaust fumes make it into the cabin on commercial airliners?

  • yes if something goes wrong. Google Bleed air and you will find more info ^^

  • lol. Only when bad things happen. It's not normall. I think everybody would die don't you think?

  • No they dont

  • The landing gear went up at 1:37

  • how do u know that?

  • When does the a340 released?

If someone knows, please answer me..

  • Do Thai airways economy class have Tv's in seats on A340-600 and Boeing 777-200ER because 23 hours is a long time to be on a plane

  • Yes they have .

  • Good video. I am going to Melbourne with Thai Airways from London Heathrow via Bangkok. From heathrow to bangkok is an A340-600 and from Banbgkok to Melbourne is a 777-200ER according to my travel information.

  • *jerks off to engine sounds*

  • i believe that we need to show cason12 some of the old 747-100,200 and 300 videos ^_^ This Airbus with the RRs have very similar sound!

  • My favourite airplane !!! nice video

  • the shadow is so cool

  • love the shadow

  • go find a video of any boeing and tell me that they are exactly the same engines, all im saying, is that the sound of the airbus' are better

  • dont care wat anyone says, but the airbus engines sound superb compared to boeing.

  • i agree.

  • Cason12....

You are aware that they are made by GE, RR, and P&W? Are they not the same manufacturers fitted to Boeings?

  • I have to agree here. The engines have nothing to do with Airbus or Boeing. Engines come from different companies e.g. Pratt & Whitney, Generel Electric and Rolls Royce. Airlines can choose on most types which engines to be fitted on the aircraft hence you'll hear different sounds on an A330 with PW engines as on an A330 with RR engines as you will hear different sounds on a 777 with GE as on a 777 with RR. Also an MD90 and A320 with IAE would sound the same as they use same engines.

  • Yer airbus have stiffer wings too so the sound resonates throughout the body :) You're getting less filter. Boeing sounds just muffle out if you get me.

  • Nice video, You can really see the flexing of the wings on rotation and climb.

  • is it me or does airbus sound quieter than boeing?

  • Yes Airbus aircraft are generally quiter than Boeing.

  • Wrong. Airbus jets sound like tin cans on takeoff.

  • it mostly has to do with the engine make and model. boeing or airbus might be insulated a bit better than the other which would contribute to a quieter cabin but the majority has to do with the engine itself.

  • the newer boeings sound quieter than the older ones

  • WARNING: THIS COMMENT IS ONLY FOR 18 years old OR OLDER:

Statistics says that u must fly everyday for like 712 years to die in a plane crash; swimming is more dangerous than flying.

Anyway, flying is for the braves!

One advice to the pilots: try to keep the same number for landings and take offs.

  • :) Thank you for proving a very nice point. I can't believe people who'd rather drive than fly.

  • :) yup i read 1 about the 737 crash it was rainy and it was about to land.. a few minutes later they lost contact with the plane.. and thats how they crash but i dint give full info go find it at wikipedea

  • yea maybe somday! nah i bet u never had a flight! and i checked online Malaysia airline only had 2 or 3 crashes in there airline history.. soo i doubt that u will die.. hmm the last time i took thai was Penang to Bengkok. it was a 2 hour flight on an airbus A330. I was on Buisness class.. they had no tv! my flight was just staring at the window.

  • ''Malaysia airline only had 2 or 3 crashes in there airline history.. '' xD our airline Finnair: 0 crash and the second safety airline in the world.

  • i wana be a pilot for Malaysia airline someday!

i took thai b4 not fun but malaysia airline much better

  • you as a pilot ???? well ill make sure not to take malaysia airline cause i do not want to die HAHAHA

  • heavy take off

  • bellissimo!!!!!!!!!!!very compliment

  • yup you cab tell that it is an 340 climbing, so sloow zzzzzzzz...... having been on both i must say the 777 is a rocket compared to this thing at least in climb!!:)

  • yeah but theres a problem.. the 777 is an american aircraft! that's not a good foretell

  • sorry you didnt make sense didnt understand

  • i was trying to say that the fact of the 777 beeing build in america, makes me wonder about how good that thing is..

  • hmmm sorry you still didnt make sense, you obviously dont know much about aviation :)

  • honey.. lets say that i'm a pilot of TAP's a330! is that enough?

  • Aah that explains it, TAP is a crappy airline the last I heard :) But sorry I dont believe you are a pilot because you wouldnt say something that stupid and unprofessional if you really were!

  • TAP IS WHAT!? oh godness... now thats you that isnt making any sense at all! tap is one of the only 9 europpean airlines that is going to survive to the petroleum crisis. right now tap has a fleet of 70 aircraft and it dominates all the barzil's, mozambique's and angola's market! tap's fleet is also one of the few which is "mono-airbus"!

about my sentence about boeings ive only said that american planes are pretty crappy! so what?!

  • oh BTW , i almost forgot, in 63 years of history, tap only had one accident! in madeira's airpot.. with an american plane!!

  • I don't think he's an A330 pilot! I saw on his profile that he's 24 years old... too young for a long haul aircraft. If he was a TAP pilot he would be an A319 or A320 pilot, or a copilot! What do you think?

PS I like all planes but personally I prefere the Boeing aircraft... But this one is a good one... A340 and A330 are good looking planes.

  • I dont think he is a pilot at all if he is probably a lousy one.

I personnely dont have preference but after talking to many pilots and mechanics they said that nothing flies or is built like a boeing. Not airbus, douglas, bombardier, embraer or gulfstream. But I do agree that airbus planes on the whole look cooler except for the 747:)

  • Well, I know a 777 pilot... he said me the same thing! Precisely he said that the Boeing have a very good G resistance and an excellent endurance. Better than every Airbus(and he said that the Airbus are fragile planes).

Yes, I've flight with a 747-400 of KLM, ant I have to say that it's awesome, but my favourite one is the 773(never flight with it, only on a 772 but the 773 is really good looking and it's better than the other version)!

  • Well, I like Airbus planes, but I'm not crazy about the A319 and A320... and I think the 747is better than the A380(wich is a good looking plane too)

  • nice video - too bad Thai aren't flying the a340 to melbourne anymore. although the 777-200ER is a nice aircraft to travel on

  • You can see the outboard bend abit upwards when they trottles up^^

  • I love the sound of those turbofans. They're quiet but you can tell they are moving lots of air.

  • this is one of the better clips i've seen of a takeoff, you can see the shadow of the plane

  • nice video, thanks =)

  • Love the engine sound!

  • i like the shades of the plane, cool!

  • i love this plane..esp this 600..very long and beautiful.

  • Couldn't agree with you more, I mean i know a Boeing 777 is more efficient and in this age of high oil prices more airlines are favouring those, so sales of this loooong bird unfortunately seemed to have dried up for now.

  • what she said :)

  • i never flew on a anything larger than a 757 so i would'nt kno

  • biggest thing ive been on is a 737

  • boy I WOULD HATE TO BE STUCK ON THAT FOR 12 HOURS!!

  • i never flew on an A-#40... rather long T/O roll

  • Are you kidding? That's what I would call a standard takeoff roll for a giant jetliner...about 40 seconds is not that long. I've seen takeoffs that are up to 55 seconds long. What is most impressive about this video to me is the incredible shadow.

  • I agree! I flew on Iberia A346 from MAD to MEX and it took exactly 59 seconds. I have it here in youtube

  • wow thats amazing

  • I will fit one of those engines on my future motorbike...

  • nice!

  • A340-600 better comfort than 747-400 but, slow to 747s. cruising speed 747 around 600mph ground speed vs 540 at level flight. It took us about 1 1/2hr long over 4000km travel. 747-400 seats are very narrow at 6' 175LB old lady next to me also had a hard time.

  • I think your right with the reduced power theory. I flew on a Thai A340 600 last week from AKL to BKK and back again. To say they feel lack luster on take off would be an understatement. They feel like they really lumber into the air.

The flights were only 60% full but there would be a lot of fuel on board for an 11 hours flight.

Even so i was very disappointed on take off. very unspectacular.

  • Its all about saving money! Save money on fuel and engine wear and tear! Less heat the better!

  • The Shadow on the ground is cool!!

    Great Video !

  • Sweet video!!! Airbus A340-500?/600's are always so heavy.

  • Reduced power takeoff!!! Thats why they lumber into the air!

  • Not Necessairley.

  • Its called take off flex and if you look at the throttle quadrant you will see it written!

  • OK, I'll chek taht next time. Thanx for the 411!

  • Its called take off flex and if you look at the throttle quadrant you will see it written!

  • yeh not necessairley.. flexs to absorb weight

  • What parameters do you tap into the MCDU for a FLEX take off?

  • were you sitting? was it business? coz u don't get that good view in economy unless you're in the front row.

  • massive

  • the sound is very good, but i prefer the 777's sound!

  • i love how the planes shadow falls away from the plane as it takes off and climbs.

  • long takeoff:D

  • Heavy.
