  • The Pogues when they were still Pogue Mahone were shown in that 'country' clip. Who could miss their distinctive sound! I recognized them immediately. Now their music is used in the US for car TV commercials!

Green seems very opinionated but he himself didn't quite improve pop music in the major way he thought he would. His print interviews could be incredibly ponderous. Green created some great tunes in his first two versions of Scritti, somewhere he lost his way.

  • I like Echo & The B but i had difficulty in getting into Ocean Rain at the time. Green's critique is pretty much on the money there were a ton of wannabe 60's types in the mid 80's, paisley shirts, Brian Jones pudding bowl cuts & teardrop guitars. There were also truckloads of Jim Morrison wannabees. I knew a musical colleague who thought he was Morrison. it was a painful experience that scarred my appreciation of the real thing hehe Go Green Gartside!

  • hahah Mr Lowe, it is almost 30 years hence and there are groups banging out Duran Duran numbers, for shame.
