@TheNunoTubes Flash yes. There is a $15 app for Office. It's got Tegra 2 so it runs games smoothly. It's a great tablet because its cheaper. Sorry, no iTunes.
Got this for college, on the first day everyone was laughing at me for bringing a tablet as a Laptop, as soon as i got the dock (Day after) everyone wanted an Eepad Transformer.
@MobileTechReview From what I have heard, one should unplug the device after the device is fully charged. If tablet is connected to the dock, the dock is charging the pad all time, hence degrading the battery, is it true???
DUDE DUDE DUDE. Can you move your files from the pad to a word program on a computer? I only need this information to decide myself and i can't find it.
I have heard that whiling using the dock, keyboard response is delayed. Basically there is lag while typing. Is this true? And if it is, how noticeable is it? From the video it is not very noticeable...
@xParad0x13x The tablet has an orientation lock. If you go to settings>screen> uncheck auto rotate screen. And it should lock it, how ever it only locks on a horizontal view. So if you wanted to lock it vertically, it won't.
@holntra Sadly no. This does not support pen-input.. Not in the way you want if you want to be able to write on it that is. It wouldn't differentiate between the pen and your hand, so your hand touching the screen while writing would count as multiple points of contact, which of course would be a bother.
yes the keyboard can be use to play the game on andriod also. ANYTHING A LAPTOP CAN DO, THIS BABY CAN DO, but keep in mind, its also a tablet at the same time :)
For folks who is asking can you run microsoft office programs like excel and pdf and doc and powerpoint. YES you can run MS office documents and power point and pdf in asus transformer app called Polaris Office. It opens pretty much anything. doc, excel, pdf, power point. Doc for my theis paper presentation and it works wonder (people comment on my tablet rather then my paper) (-.-)
Another question is can you download MS Office into the device? HELL NO, ANDRIOD !!!! not MICROSOFT!!!!
@22CCS22 no but great question though ( lol not really, just trying to be nice) my therapy lady told me to be nice so :) ( i go extra mile for that smile)
I know that on the newest blackberry phone the little mouse/touchpad will be able to scroll through icons/apps and such but what does the touch pad on the keyboard do when there is no "cursor".
@niteprowler1992 i use it in high school, b/c we use only ebooks and while everyone has there dell that has so many issues i have this and it works better
I am realllly close to getting this because of you, just one question, if I have created a document in polaris, can I open it in Microsoft office? Please help because this would be a really useful piece of kit for University!
i dont think anything tablet wise can touch this at the moment it seems perfect, yes it will have some flaws but so does everything really, especially technological wise, cheap as well, really thinkin gof ordering this like right now, had a littl eplay today in pc world and it is very responsive, speakers are an issue though but it does have a 3.5mm jack so alls good, here we go i believe, lol
I went to BB and tested charging my phone VIA usb. It works only when the tablet and keyboard are connected. It also charged my phone when closed, I was not sure when and if the device goes to sleep after awhile when closed. Very curious about that. @mobiletechreviewer please test charging phones VIA usb on Transformer. EVO HTC
I'm tired of the weak battery on my EVO, so I am in the market for a Tablet. Ques? Will the Tranformer charge my EVO when closed? Like in a backpack or case. And can the tablet only charge a cellphone too?
As soon as Asus releases a similar attachable keyboard for their Eee Slate, I'm buying that plus the Slate. As cool as the Transformer is, having a pen too definitely sways me towards the Slate.
@SuperSnowboarder1191 Nothing built-in from the OS, you can use cloud-based printing services, or specific apps, like HP offers WiFi printing app to print photos and PDFs on its own printers.
@MobileTechReview do you know if the polaris wil send via email to windows office with out screwing up the text. and is easy to organize the files you write for example doing it by chapters for college lessons also can you use the touch screen in dock mode cause you seem to have more trouble with the small touch pad rather than just touching the icons
@forrest822 If you check our video review of the Transformer, you will see that we were playing Left 4 Dead 2 on a PC using the remote desktop control on the Transformer. Check it out! You can have so much fun with this!
@MobileTechReview Can I ask about that, there was a slightly choppy framerate when you're playing that game on the review, is that caused by the tablet or is it caused by the laptop that's running the game? In other words, could I play at, say, 30fps if my laptop had enough power, or does the tablet simply not have enough power to decode the data stream fast enough?
That feature is what really interests me about this tablet, if it really could allow me to do proper games on the tablet i'll buy!
@Pilkingtube The tablet does a good job at mirroring the laptop, the speed of the app is usually depending on the performance of your laptop/desktop or the speed of your network. In this case, it was the laptop that ran the game at a lower fps.
Lol, a review of a keyboard dock :) But it is definitely a really nice thing, it adds so much functionality to the tablet (full SD card slot, 2x real USB host, huge battery!).
The mousepad doesn't support multitouch gestures I'm afraid?
@Arjoma92 no it does support multitouch, when u r at the home page of the tablet and u swipe across the mouse-pad to the right with your fingers it goes to the page on the right, and u can scroll up and down in the browser the same way
DO you know if you could plug in, say, an optical drive to view DVD movies? I'm also curious about how this'll fair up against the rumored purpose built 13" Android Notebook that Asus (supposedly) is working on.
I have this tablet with key dock and this tablet owns all Apple and Android tabs. The bang for the buck factor rules plus the track pad has awesome multi-touch features. And the expansions on this thing are endless. It might not be the thinnest tab but i don't care if other tabs are point mm thinner my hands don't notice the difference.
Also, I am with verizon and dont want to purchase a tethering plan. Can i plug my phone into the USB port on the keyboard and to a wierd tether between my phone and the Asus transformer
@Coaster1313 I do reccommend getting the dock. I am using it right now and it is worth the purchase imo. I have had my AET for about a month. I wanted the Galaxy 10.1 but I couldnt wait and AET is worth the purchase. I am now waiting for the Galaxy 8.9 to hit the market. Again on AET it stands alone and if it was to be ranked it would be top 3.
