The first National Bank was written into law by George Washington at the urging of then Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton. Jefferson wrote Washington urging him to veto the measure. That is where you get your quote from. He didn't want a national bank because Jefferson understood the danger of giving a state monopoly on the creation of currency to a small group of people. You're starting to get it now. We had private banks in the 1800s that issued their own currencies backed by gold. That WASN'T communism, that was free market capitalism. In 1913, using fear tactics and sliding the bill in over christmas, Congress granted a monopoly to the Federal reserve on the issuance of currency and later removed the gold backing, thus creating a gov't central bank. That IS communism.

Lots of self promotion by Naomi there, without saying a whole lot of real substance. I do wish she'd specify who she means by "they." If she is following in the same vein as John Perkins in 'Confessions of an Economic Hitman' she should be specific. She is making a loose connection there with the Heritage Foundation's comments, which could be interpreted in many ways- depending on the prejudice of who is doing the interpreting.

cuba had 344 doctors in haiti before the quake. they have now sent more doctors along with medicine and supplies.
