  • I finally saw it. I have to say, I agree--it's disturbing, it's funny, and it's beautiful in the oddest way possible.

It's difficult to sit through at first, but now that a couple of days have passed since I watched it, I can't get it out of my head--and I love it.

  • Well done...Very objective review..I loved the ending...I had a strange sense of foreboding ...but as the scene went on...It felt so surreal...This woman...with a stroller in the middle of the night...The soft glow of streetlights...after all the madness....A moment of humanity.

  • Trash Humpers is kinda like a parody of Gummo in some ways, it's an even less realistic take on things with more humor involved.

  • I'm so sorry for humping the trash can in my review as well, I couldnt resist hahaha

  • i'm sold. watching this wed hahahahah

  • You are a really great movie critic

  • Harmony lives really close by

  • your smart im subed

  • I quite like it but I don't know why. I like the fact that it warrants opinion. I like how it doesn't pander to anyone. But sometimes I feel it's just shocking for shock sake without any real meaning behind it. Maybe that's the point?

  • dude you do a good review here. cool.

  • GREAT review. you didnt like it more or less, but you still rated it based upon what you think it deserved within it's own context. I admire that honestly.

  • i like ur movie collection in the background.....eraserhead,Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.Anymore u could recommend in that category?

  • Believe it or not, I have seen this film. Needless to say it was not an enjoyable experience for me, but being a film maker myself, I appreciate that the director didn't stop to think that some images may be distasteful, because he wanted his vision to be perfect, and at the end of the day, you can't ask for much more in a film. I personally though, would just give it a 2/5 rating wise, but I have a very distinct taste in movies anyway. Great review, really said it better than me. lol

  • Gummo is one of my favourites, so this seems like my cup of tea. Thanks for the review!

  • It looks like a film version of the book Naked Lunch. Good review as always.

  • awesome work you are my only trusted movie review source. I was wondering if you have watched the youtube series marble hornets and if so what are your thoughts? this isnt promotion, it just scares the pants off of me.

  • This film is like what I would make if me and my friends took crack and LSD and went around town with an 80s video camera.

  • Didn't you say that you watched Julien Donkey Boy?

  • You have aroused my curiousity: I HAVE TO SEE THIS.

  • excellent work

  • I really want to see this but I have doubts it will make distribution here is Australia. I respect the hell out of Korine simply because he does take no prisoners and always make the film that he wants without restrictions or barriers...and in a weird way, for as jumbled and non sensical as his films are, they do come together in there own sad bizarre way and form a narrative...So I really want to see this but doubt we're going to get it here in Aus anytime soon.

  • Also, this review had the best intro yet, and now a video of you humping a tin can/trash can will forever be stored in the Youtube archives...unless you delete that is. Either way, I clicked the Like button!

  • Awesome review, I'll never get tired of watching your reviews. This looks really strange but also interesting to see play out.

  • i did a special thing on this, i am actually looking forward to it

  • OMG at the beginning! LOLOL

  • Here's the first part.

I felt the profound beauty of the movie doubled back on itself and turned back into dark comedy based on how messed up and casual the inhabitants of the neighborhood acted around the trash humpers. Sort of a commentary on the complicated complexes on society. I loved how stark the cynicism hit the screen in the last scene.

    there.

  • Shit half my review got cut. Wait a sec, Durden

  • screen in the last scene. I felt maybe Harmony was trying to be a little too out there, for example the hookers singing silent night. I kept wanting to compare this movie to Gummo, but Harmony did a good job of creating an entirely new white trash universe. It was awesome seeing it in theaters. A bunch of people left in the middle. It wasn't Julien Donkey-Boy but it was a fun time watching all that crazy shit fly across the screen.

  • I'm cautiously looking forward to this. I haven't seen any of Harmony Korine's work, though. Since he only wrote Kids, it is a possibility for me, but from your review, Gummo sounds like a big turn off for me. Trash Humpers, however, just looks so experimental and different that it kind of fascinates me. I know I will walk away somewhat scarred if I do see it. At least I know you kind of "like" it, but mostly appreciate it, Aaron.

  • @TBBucs20 I definitely think that if I had to pick "like" or "dislike", I'd say that I liked TRASH HUMPERS. A part of me really wants to see it again. I think anytime a film has any sort of effect on me and especially makes me feel something emotionally, it has to be somewhat good. Right? lol

  • @durden85 couldn't post a comment so I'

ll do a reply......I am really eager to see this film. GUMMO is one of my favorite films. Thanks for reviewing trashhumpers, everythign sounds like it would be for Korine but it just adds to the anticipation.

That's exactly how I would describe Harmony's films and why I like them:

    perverse beauty

  • Great review. This sounds really crazy. I liked Kids but I hated Gummo so I have a felling I might not like Trash Humpers. It is great though like you said that Korine is doing it the way he wants without being compromised but this one might be a little to out there even for me haha.

  • @theInnerdvdPattern I didn't really like GUMMO either although I feel obligated to revisit it because I definitely see a lot of similarities.
