hey i got the answer. it happens to every mercs 2 game for EVERYONE! since EA closed Pandemic Studios they can't do maintenence on the servers so the y shut it down. if you didn't get that, here's a recap. EA closes Pandemic. they shut down servers period. so for not freeze don't go online logout of PSN or Xbox live then when you start the game and play then log back in, or it freezes. hope they make Mercs 3. you know when they said World in flames? it's just Venezuela so lol.

You won't die...sometimes this game is a tad unrealistic. For example... You can fly as high as the game allows you to in a helicopter and then jump out...you fall and hit the ground with only 3hp left. A little unrealistic but still really fun.

Maybe because the PS2 is about 10 years old, there's a PS3 out, there aren't many people who still play PS2 online, compared to the HUGE amount of people who play Xbox 360s and PS3s, and the PS2 really couldn't handle half of this stuff. Really, it would be a big waste of time making all of that for the PS2. You're lucky those games ( COD5 and MERCS2 ) even came out for the PS2.

i know one other way to get picked up in a tank by a heli, its in Mercenaries 1, up call in a car or a tank and wait, then (its very tricky) you have to go under it at the right, then once the heli lets go, it will pick you up with the wrench.
