If 2 disks on a common axis with air gap between them and output jets on the edges was rotated at a speed such that the rim velocity is > speed of sound, then if the jets were angled slightly tangential to the disk, once having gained sufficient RPMs the disk would self sustain. Apply a huge external magnetic field and cool the material down and, *whammo*, it stores some of that charge. The penomenon of making a loop of a superconducting wire, applying some current and closing the loop, thus producing a permanently running current and a permanent magnetic field doesn't, apparently, provide enough of a clue. You are totally correct, a magnetic generator would require a outside power source to start it. What I don't understand is, couldn't a arm with a strong magnet attached at it's end, moved with the proper timing, move a set of magnets around a wheel with the proper geometry attached to a generator? Actually the kinetic energy that arises from dropping an object comes from the object's mass itself. It was the energy to lift it up that came from your muscles. But an object in a lower gravitational potential actually has less mass. Set a 1 kilogram brick upon a neutron star massing 2 solar masses and it will then have a mass of perhaps 2 solar masses plus 700 grams. That's where the energy really comes from when you drop something to a lower potential, gravitational, magnetic, or electrical.

@Desertphile I hate to say this, but you're saying things that are simply wrong. Of course I agree that one cannot get more energy out of a system than is put in. Conservation of energy is an extremely well-tested law of physics, and it states that energy isn't created OR destroyed. Forget about magnets for a second. In your video and above, you claim that gravitational fields do not store energy. This is incorrect.

First the energy is stored chemically in your arm, and later the hoof pick has kinetic energy, but what about when you are just holding it higher? You've added *gravitational potential energy* (mass*g*height). Some people are arguing with you not because they are free energy nuts but because you say things like "fields do not store energy" and then refer to "energy of position."

The only problem with magnetic engines, say even if you manage with sophisticated electronics to create motion, once that engine is loaded with counteracting magnetic field when electricity is produced, it looses any power whatsoever. The challenge is to manage motion and magnetic fields in such way that kinetic energy within magnetic engine is not lost. Well basically its hack of a lot tricky, but I think achievable, very hard, will require a radical design.

The field strength of the magnet contains enough Potential energy to move an object.
And Gravity appears to pull things down towards significant masses although gravimetric fields have not been mapped.
But the point about the arm is still valid, you have to pick things up before they will fall down.
Just like when an overbalancing set of magnets is set off it goes for three turns or less and just stops dead, as the energy to drive the reaction is lost on friction and generating momentum.

I would imagine you have never tried to create a Magnet Engine.Probably because you have been taught it is impossible. I don't like to use the words perpetual motion. Magnets will eventually wear out or lose their power. It would take aproximately 400 years give or take 100. it is possible to create an engine that runs on stationary magnets for over a lifetime without outside energy forces other than to set it in motion.

Just like superconductors, if you heat a magnet up, it loses the ability to hold or react to a mgnetic field. Apply a huge external magnetic field and cool the material down and, *whammo*, it stores some of that charge. In effect, a permanent magnet is a (no joke) "Flux Capacitor" (and you thought "Back to the Future" just made the term up?). That tiny bit of energy is stored in the magnet like electrical energy is stored in a capacitor. Just like that capacitor, if you drain that magnet, pffft.

They totally misunderstand how magnets *really* work. The penomenon of making a loop of a superconducting wire, applying some current and closing the loop, thus producing a permanently running current and a permanent magnetic field doesn't, apparently, provide enough of a clue. The crystal boundaries of the magnet material are like that superconducting wire. A Cooper Pair of electrons (which are a *superconducting* phenomenon) are trapped on the crystal faces.

You are totally correct, a magnetic generator would require a outside power source to start it. What I don't understand is, couldn't a arm with a strong magnet attached at it's end, moved with the proper timing, move a set of magnets around a wheel with the proper geometry attached to a generator? If this is possible, wouldn't the energy required to power the arm(powered by a servo, think radio controlled models) be LESS THAN the kinetic energy generated by the wheel? Couldn't you loop it?

Gravity is a very weak force. It's easily overcome. We do it all the time, when we stand ourselves upright or we pick something up. We are overcoming the force of gravity. Let go of the object, or trip over something, and gravity pulls down.

I will state it another way: There is potential energy associated with the iron being separated a distance from the magnet. Let's say it is +1 unit of potential energy. When the iron is stuck to the magnet, he has to pull it away and expend one unit of energy. That is -1 unit of potential energy relative to the magnet-iron system. +1 + -1 = ZERO, so you gain nothing.
Magnets are as dead as a proverbial doornail.

Just like an electret, however, the resulting residual power in a permanent magnet isn't a whole lot of power in terms of Joules, so it would be fairly quickly depleted *if* it could be drawn out at all. As it is, all a permanent magnet can do is provide a way of moving electrons using a magnetic field *if* the magnetic field is moved.

Absolutely yes, Desertphile. Look up how they are made. The raw allow is shaped and machined into shape as needed. Then heated to above it's Curie temperature where it loses all magnetic charactersitics. A magnetic field is applied and the magnet to be allowed to cool. The field *can* be applied the hard way sans the thermal cycle, but the resulting field is usually weaker. This is charging in terms of a magnetic field the same way a battery is charged. Using an external source of power.

Permanent magnets are *charged*, like a battery, so that their superconducting loops on the crystal grains hold a DC magnetic field (note, cooper pairs are *STILL* electrons.. this has nothing to do with aligning spin on the electrons, the electrons must *MOVE* to generate a magnetic field). If you "draw power" from a permanent magnet, it becomes quite temporary very quickly.

Actually the kinetic energy that arises from dropping an object comes from the object's mass itself. It was the energy to lift it up that came from your muscles. But an object in a lower gravitational potential actually has less mass. Set a 1 kilogram brick upon a neutron star massing 2 solar masses and it will then have a mass of perhaps 2 solar masses plus 700 grams. That's where the energy really comes from when you drop something to a lower potential, gravitational, magnetic, or electrical.

Again, anyone with knowledge concerning multi-dimensional experience will realize that only particular energies within a 4th dimensional entropic system will be observed with no apparant 'free-energy source'. 1. Likewise I'm going to state a theory that "free energy" does exist as the source of energy for which the universe is driven. A "theory" by scientific definition is a testable model which can be verified through empirical observation. Because the source of energy for which the universe operates on can not be defined or proven as equal or greater to the existing operation of the universe free energy is proven through the empirical observation therefore I have proven free energy does exist.

If you believe nothing produces more energy then it's given because energy "always" come from somewhere, please explain the source of energy for which the universe is driven, Fail to answer this and you can not dis-prove free energy at all, therefore it exists.

pick dropping is gravity's kinetic energy. if you think this is wrong then tell me what would happen in outer space with to pull. The pick would float. if you threw the pick to the ground or the magnet, then yes the kinetic energy causing the pick to move would come from your arm. Any form of 'potential energy' is by quantum definition a form of wave-energy. To have a wave-duality POTENTIAL is to question where this potential ORIGINATES. You can talk about your dumb arm all you want, but the Arm mind as well be the Univere at point singularity. Take time to reason what a quantum flux vacuum universe implies under such laws in terms of origin. POTENTIALITY & ACTUALIZATION are real experiences within the reality of the Universe & knowledgable people will wonder at ORIGIN.

So I'm sorry to say that the laws of physics win. It would be nice to get something from nothing but that isn't the way the world works, there is always equal exchange. If a genius comes up with a way to circumvent these laws it would be great, but that is wishful thinking.

I do believe magnets repelling from each other can create enough force to turn a wheel.
However I do not believe in over unity. As an example, all they look at is that the electrical input is less than the electrical output. If they would factor the energy input of the magnetic force into the equation they would see that the input and output are equal.

On can: nobody says one cannot do so. Millions of such motors exist: they are called "DC Motors." The contention is idiots who believe one can use magnetic fields, without adding energy, to create a magnetic motor / generator / etc.: that is impossible, but fools and idiots still try to. To make a magnetic motor or a magnetic generator, energy must be added to the system; the system will always, without exception, provide less energy out.
