  • @blackgirl86 you actually can my cousin chrles is from boston an i emitate him all the time so its easy jus work at it

  • wow they look different lol i guess its bkuz they dnt hve on any makeup but i still luv them

  • wow they look different lol i guess its bkuz they dnt hve on any makeup

  • Change the Title of this Video to>>>This is not the real reason Bobby left the Group>>>Management made them vote Bobby out b/c he spoke his opinion & was not a comformist!!! They VOTED him out of the GROUP>>He didn't leave the Grop>>> So, to Sum it UP>>I guess U'r manager told ya'll to LIE in this interview & say he left b/c of creative differences!!!! Ya'll Did Bobby wrong>>>Karma is a Mutha!!!

  • 2nd guy from the left looks like chris bosh

  • change the title off this. its an interview. its not the offical statement of bobby brown leaving.

  • it just cracks me up how they dressed back then

  • @EnvelopedInDarkness -And you will be cracken someone else up on how you dress now in the future! Think about it. Things change over time-which is a normal progression whether it cracks any one up- such a silly statement- you must be very young-have to be.

  • @charlene12341234 and you must be very old, have to be.

  • @EnvelopedInDarkness-Me saying that you were very young should have been taken as a compliment if you were not so green and simple in your thinking. Process ur thoughts better! Age is something no one will avoid if you live long enough. Embrace your youth! then you will embrace your maturity when it comes!

  • WOW this aired on the day I was born!!! LMAO!

  • Thumbs up for the Kangol!

  • johnny gill is a better singer than all of them put together

  • @chitownreak -Not BOBBY BROWN-yet I loved Jonny Gill, but he was Slow and Low-which represented a real old school affect. Bobby Brown was fast and last- he danced and was upbeat more than Gill. Yet Gill was a very

    good replacement for Brown.

  • @charlene12341234 he didnt replace bobby he replaced ralph as led singer

  • @mikemike641 -OK-COOL!

  • Mikes waves was sick Right???? AWWW that was so sweet for Ronnie to say that about Bobbi!!! His jerry curl was hilarious! My mother wouldn't let me get one. lol

  • Mikes waves was sick Right????

  • concerts unlimited worked the new edition, run dmc- later on got in krush groove the movie.

  • johnny didnt really replace bobby he just brought his own thing to NE bobby was irreplaceable

  • @Drezyful

New Edition was made of RT and BB....If u listen and watch the interview u can see how Ralph was not happy how they were talking about BB. RT and BB 4 Ever!!

  • The style of clothing is everything that was wrong with the 80's..GOOD TIMES! Green shirt...green socks, jerry curls, nut hugging high water pants....The freshest thing is the kango hat!.........I still wonder are some of these cats gay!

  • This is the worst reporting EVER,

  • why the hell they wearing lipstick?

  • @jamerican347 it was the 80's. 'Nuff said.

  • @jamerican347 Wat r u talkin' about?

  • NE didn't replace Brown Gill. Ralph was going solo and Gill was brought in to replace Ralph, but Ralph decided to stay & they had five members again.

  • @Mrprich - i heard NE interviewing once that johnny gill was suppose to be part of the group originally but didn't cut it at the time, his dancing wasn't good enough so Ronnie De Voe auditioned and joined instead. Later i rsaw a show that bobby was kicked out b/c he was trouble & had a big head, they decided to let Johnny Gill audition again in which he made it but made it clear that this was Ralph's group. i think it was a hollywood true stories ' new edition.'

  • @Ileana105 Johnny was going to take Ralph's spot. Ralph was supposed to have the solo career, but it turned out differently, as life often does.

  • Doesn't New Edition's situation kind remind you of the Temptation's situation? NE replaced B. Brown with J. Gill, The Temptations replaced David Ruffin with Dennis Edwards. B. Brown started acting up, David Ruffin Started acting up. B. Brown got on drugs, D. Ruffin got on drugs. See the similarities? Watch the Temptations movie and you'll see the same similarities as New Edition.

  • bobby brown "stinks" he always was stupid in my book...

  • Mike looks like he had a run in with Bobby !

  • @mysterymediacorp Bobby probably had a run in with all of them individually. Because he was not afraid to speak his mind and be different from the others. Only God and New Edition themselves know what happened backstage all those years.

  • They were some ugly motherfuckers weren't they...

  • @getemhi yeah except ronnie at that time he was cute then went to o my mutherfuking gosh to a drop dead sexy as hell motherfucker thats just ronnie himself and he was real accent all them did

  • i have candy girl on my ipod, and they sounded really tiny!

  • Being from Roxbury and having been around these cats, I WILL say to dude MrRedman, bruh you must be gay if you're judging their looks and mad because you never made it. Any one of those dude would knuckle up with anyone. Looks are mad deceiving, but your response says a lot about you. Look up Orchard Park Projects on Google. These dudes came up harder than the MAJORITY of these whack rappers out now. Big Ups O.P.! I'm just saying...

  • I'LL BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND MIKE!! LOL

  • Ugly guys with bitch-ass voices.

  • @MrRedman , you sound so stupid please stfu

  • @indianoma Who's talkin' to you? No one.. that's what I thought, now move on.

  • @MrRedman ok first sweetie youh need too chill, and second you're here bashing on New Edition on how they looks and how their voices sound. at least they did something w. there lives and what are you doing on youtube calling them ugly and shit. and idont need your smart remarks... maybe YOU should take your own advice and move on.

  • @indianoma Maybe not ¬ ¬

I'm not your "sweetie" for one and yeah, so what if i'm bashing New Edition. I'm gonna' say my COMMENT in the COMMENT section. Yup, they did do something with their lives, i'm not disputing that. I've been on YouTube longer than you so don't patronize. I'm simply saying what's on my mind - THAT's what i'm doing on YouTube that's what many do here.

All this talk is petty. You could have moved on but you wanted more so you came back to try it again. Just stop.

  • @MrRedman , seriously! okay one, NO ONE said youh couldnt express your feelings on youtube, all isaid was "you sound stupid, so stfu" okay?..... as isaid you're BASHING on their fucking looks. and what are youh stalking me or something, how would you know howlong i've been uphere..( thats beside the point though). anyway, imay have took my first comment too far but the second one came from the heart. but w.e. my head hurts and im going too sleep.

  • @indianoma For the last time, I'm saying what's on my mind - not how I feel. I'm not taking it to heart (why would I, it's not like we know each other) but I'm not gonna' ignore someone when they tell me to stfu. YES SO WHAT IF I'M TALKING ABOUT THEIR LOOKS AND SOUND? it's what kind of contributes to whether an artist is successful or not. it's not stalking it's called viewing your profile.

I'm glad you've realised that comment was a little harsh - if that's an apology then I accept.

  • @MrRedman i have sum questions... y r u lookin at her profile for no reason, y r u judgin guys if ur a guy, and y wud u have a argument ova youtube for sumthin stupid she was rong for tellin u tu sdfu but u cud've left it alone at that but no u wanna keep goin wiff this petty crap :/ nd if u thought they were ugly nd had bitch voices y were u watchin this video? :/ point proven

  • @jeasyallday. You''re point wasn't proven 'coz I didn't even get to reply =/. Either way, you can forget it - I ain't gonna' say anything else on that argument 'coz it's OVER. If you had read the whole thing before speaking, you would have seen it ended on fairly good terms.

Whether you're a friend of hers or not, the best thing you can do is stop talking 'coz the argument ended over a week ago.

    Live and let die.

  • @MrRedman i dnt think i asked for a reply i wanted tu get my point in nd thats it so u dnt have tu reply it wasnt on gud terms eitha it was juss a misunderstandin but u didnt have tu say the things u did about new edition bcuz it was pointless nd u dnt get anything out of it so maybe next time if u dnt have anything gud tu say dnt say it at all another point proven

  • @jeasyallday Maybe "next time" you should join the argument (that never concerned you) a little earlier so they might actually mean something.

Oh, so you finally looked at the argument before running your mouth? Well I said FAIRLY good terms, which means it wasn't a perfect ending, but it was enough to settle and leave it at that.

Don't get smart about "I didn't ask for a reply". Don't ask so many questions then!

  • @jeasyallday If you're seriously talking about saying pointless things, I suggest you look at your first comment on this page - you didn't have to bring it up again. Get off her ass and mind your buisness. This is none of your concern.

You can reply, but you won't get anything back.. Apologies to EbonyJetMagazines for all this.

  • @MrRedman u say i wont get a reply but u wrote 2 more comments wen is sed i didnt want a reply i was juss bringin my point up it was u who started goin bac nd forth but nevertheless u were still in th rong u juss wont admit it nd i cn get smart if i want tu nd how about keepin ur bad thoughts tu urself ty very much nd if u write bac i write bac so lets juss keep it at this nd stop writin cuz ur obviously gettin frustrated wiff the matter

  • @MrRedman well they hadnt gone thru pubirty yet im guessing lol cuz they all got really good looking as they got older

  • @MrRedman do me a favor go listen to your lady gaga and beyonce this guys are talented not like your stupid music today

  • @TheStrawbeery I don't listen to Lady Gaga or Beyonce.

    You kinda' failed there.

  • @librarian5602

For sure, I feel ya, that is still a tite song to chill to w/ someone special- I like the whole King Of Stage album.

  • @librarian5602

He only made videos for Girlfriend & Girl Next Door off of the King Of Stage album.

  • He was voted off New Edition

    He didnt leave.

  • @dsamoa B,.B

LEFT..cause New Edition wanted him to wear shitty clothes..

    and bobby left..

  • @dsamoa What's wrong with that?? Why do people make a big deal about that?? That doesn't take anything away from Bobby.

  • i heard ,iz racist in boston

  • thats fucked up how those record producers did these kids...

  • youh can definatley hear the boston in their voices; "BAWBEE" ilove it. ronnie is so fucking adorable;

  • Ronnie looks like the zombie version of Michael jackson from thriller!! AHAHA!

  • its funny that you say that, b'cause when I was six years old, I used to say the same thing! LO

  • funny how yo moma mistake you for a turd out here ass!

  • Look out for british lovers rock gala awards 2009 dvd on sale now 16 acts 38 love songs

  • When Bobby Brown said he wanted to leave the group. They said, 'Bobby? We have sold millions of albums. We are loved by millions. Why would you want to leave? You must be smoking crack!'

    Little did they know...

  • I'm going to take this as a joke since Bobby didn't leave, he was kicked out by a 4 - 0 vote. Just for the record.

He wanted to move away from the bubble gum stuff (and he had a point), but they felt like he was fucking with their money; which he was, cause he was ultra raunchy for a 15/16 year old, and that wasn't their style at the time.

  • sounds like you've been watchin VH 1 with that comment. dam you actually sayin it line for line from that BEHIND THE MUSIC show!

  • good for your still watching the VH 1 SPECIAL!! so your history on this is predicated on TV? keep on watching girlfriend keep on watching!! fill that head with knowledge in no time!!! aint nuthin in there to begin with!!

  • Ronnie & Biv: Did their background thing. Ronnie had moves. When BBD formed they got on rhyming and the whole New Jack thing but still did stuff like "Smile." That stills plays on Ouiet Storms across the country.

In retrospect, they all harmonized well. Their voices play off each others. The brothas from Boston set fashion and music trends. They really have accomplished a lot. Now, give them their propers, ppl. We see them performing when honoring folks. Time for someone to honor them. Dammit.

  • @lifeinterrupted I agree with you! TIME TO HONOR THEM

  • You can really hear the Boston in them, esp. Ronnie and Ralph. "Bawbee." I love it!

Ralph: LOVED Ralph. Loved his voice, loved the way he looked (crowded overbite and all). He was THE voice. Listening to RT sing makes me smile and cry at the same time. Seriously. His voice is so pretty and soothing.

Bobby: LOVED me some Bobby. Loved his style, his hair was always the best out of the group. Always. He could dance his ass off like none other. I think his and RT's vocals meshed well together.

  • Ricky: RB could easily co-lead w/ Ralph and Bobby, and he did. Dude can carry a song on his own. The more time they had as a group, I feel, the less underrated he became.

Johnny: I am so not on the Johnny Love Train. Never have been. His voice to gruff and strong. It's too much. I think he would've been fine staying solo & NE should've remained a foursome. BUT I like his NE stuff more than his solo stuff. Guess everyone just balances him out.

  • Foursome? LOL That's funny....a quartet?

Not baggin', just thought it was funny...

  • A dictionary? A thesaurus? After rereading my error-laden comments, I've determined that I was either sleepy or under the influence of a horse tranquilizer; so, while there is plenty to bag on, "foursome" is not one of them. Get your mind out of the gutter. :)

  • Bobby Brown was always the trouble maker.

  • Now featuring Johnny Gill!

  • THEY ALL NEEDED PROACTIVE

  • What did you and others talking about their acne look like during those years, hmm? If you escaped teenage acne, cool, but adult acne might creep up on ya. Then you'll be calling Puff or Jessica Simpson. They look good now. No nestle crunch, burger meat faces. lol

  • Bivens and Bobby were the BBoys of the crew

  • Johnny Gill took his place, lol.

  • They all sound like Chipmunks.. The lady has more testosterone than them all put together. lol

  • go wack off to boygeorge! butt snifer!

  • ahhh Skinny jeans.... hahahah joking....

  • LOL!!@ that person that said dude in green is Jay Z! lol he does look like him. How funny lol

  • that's michael bivins

  • B.BROWN was the best singer they had!

  • no gill is the better

  • i like Ralph voice the best but Johnny has that voice dat u be like that's amazing

  • bobby was better, johhn was better, it doesnt really matter. all i know is N.E. Heartbreak was BY FAR the best New Edition cd with classic songs, and johnny had a lot to do with it by adding a more mature sound that New Edition needed to take their group to the next level. i doubt that that New Edition could have ever achieved that next level of success with bobby still in the group.....

  • Honestly, Bobby is the most talented of NE. He was actually slated to be a solo act before he joined the group. Their producer at the time, Maurice Starr, wanted to capture the Jackson 5 feel and made Ralph the lead vocal. It seems now that they always knew he gonna break from them at some point

  • they should really put their story on vh1 or something..its kinda sad..well the part where they were seriouslly getting ripped off and underrated...then again no they arent

  • i never knew ronnie was so outspoken..how come he never got more mike time in ne? his voice is so smooth n sexy...

  • uh...dey do have there story on vh1....i saw it like 5 years ago

  • i saw it too...it was really short though, i mean something like the jackson 5 movie they did...

  • New Edition was featured on an episode of Behind the Music on Vh1. They had Bobby and all and told their whole story.

  • And that is a rumor, bobby was not kick out, he left because he wanted more of an adult sound, and he wanted to be the frontman.

  • I saw Bobby do a round table discussion on a show about a month ago. Can't think of the name of it of top but Anthony Anderson hosts it. According to his account Bobby said he was kicked out. He said NE took a vote & Ralph was the only 1 who voted to keep him. Ralph & Johnny later appeared in the show to surprise Bobby. Ralph then confirmed Bobby's account of being voted out of the group. I bet they have it somewhere floating around on youtube if you search it.

  • They were 18 and 19 in this video, Johnny join the group in 87 and were on their 1988 NE heartbreak album. Ralp and mike were 20, Ricky an Ronnie 21, and Johnny 22. I am a #1 NE Fan, so that's why I know this.

  • dang, they looks tired here...and, asicsrunner mos def was not in the group...he prob wasnt even born then. if he was he was little. thats raplh the lead singer. and did someone say ronnie is cute? i used to think so but...like his voice but wtf at :14?

  • @perdybirdie iwas thinking the same damn thing! like ' ronnie is cutee and all but , he sounds slow ; like the way he's talkinn..

  • @Juscallmelivi101 my point

  • Comment removed

  • johnny gill baby!!!

  • how old are theme right there

  • Johnny gill is the new member of the new edition?

  • he joined when new edition grew into thier mid twenties

  • if you all don't who is the lady in the background is KITTY NEELY @ WJPC RADIO FOUNDER OF THE KITTY NEELY JAM CLUB. YEAH YALL REMEMBER THE BASKET BALL BALL GAME @ MENDEL HIGHSCHOOL YEAH SHE SPONSERED THAT. AND YEP THATS MY MOMMIE!!!!!

  • y ronnie sound lik dhat at 0:14

  • and then there was johnny....

  • Omg without reading these comments i was about to say the exact same thing lmao!!!

  • LOL! we all know da story!

  • New Edition is a bad ass group with or without bobby but when bobby left the motha fucker blew up crazy all his albums sold crazy big and his single every little step I take was a party banger and was featured on house party soundtract with kidd n play dont people say bobby is the king of r&b? crack head or not he gets mad respect !!

  • Im with you! We must respect Bobby. He put it down back in 88' for damn sure. That boy had two of the best producers of the era. Teddy R. And BabyFace Edmonds. B.Brown put the finishing touches to it. I'll be good'. Damn that was cut. 'Dont be cruel....Bottomline, you put the tape in the deck and press play. There was no need for selecting a certain song. The entire album was a certifed X9 Platinum project. Please keep in mind the yr was 1988'. Millions sold wasn't easy for blk artists.

  • it was easier then then now,do u know it was just 82 mj sold he record breaking album sells.

  • wrong fewer people had money then, your just young!

  • lol, someone telling me I'm young when they are just a year older then me.First off it doesn't matter if I'm young the fact is more people bought records then less boot legs back then.Which equals money.Because a corner store not selling it for 2 dollars for there own good. That is why I said it was easier then, now!Second new edition purpose was to target a white crowd which brings in money.Which is why they do all that bubble gum music. They also wanted to be a 80s Jackson 5 which they were

  • NONE of these boy-groups EVER reached the status of the Jackson 5!!

  • of course they are not,Its hard to top Micheal Jackson.I don't know why u thumbs down me.If you look at anything they well tell you ne was suppose to be the 80s jackson 5.Just like now its supose to be b5 which they are not living up 2 it.But who nose where the future leads to

  • but u gotta admit NEW EDITION waz Close

  • Not even "Close." Sorry LOL

  • Agreed. Don't get me wrong NE was a great group but I really don't see how they can lay any claim to being the original boy band when their whole style was patterned after J5. And what most people don't realize is that even J5 borrowed their style heavily from Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.

  • Saying the J5 borrowed their style after Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers is a BIG Stretch!! LOL Better to say the J5 borrowed their style from a LOT of boy groups because by the time the J5 came along, there were MANY Boy groups out there. :-)

  • They freely and openly admit they were patterned after the Jackson 5; Ronnie, Mike, and Ricky just said so on t.v. just 2 nights ago.

What they are though are the originals of the current era. They were the break through group of that type for their generation, which directly lead to new kids on the block, which led to the whole boy band explosion.

Those are just facts. The same guy that put NE together put NKOTB together.

  • @Yobachi2007

Agreed, all the boy bands that came after New Edition owe a debt to them. They all even kind of had the same lineup: Lead guy, bad boy, the short funny lookin one, the good backup singer and 'the other guy'.

  • Yeah, I noticed t hat too about the line ups. It's no coincidence that that New Kids had to have their Bobby Brown bad boy (the Walberg kid; Markie Mark's brother, lol) and the lead singer was a falsetto singer like Ralph, etc.

  • since everyone is watching VH1 on here and actin like they got inside info on this! the cat that produce NEW EDITION produced NEW KID ON THE BLOCK! there no coincidence that they were lined up the same way! even thought it was forced!

  • Watching VH1? I've been following New Edition almost my whole life, since around 1985.

You simply don't know what the hell you're talking about, obviously; as NKOTB were without doubt fashioned on NE.

When they fired their manager he went and created New Kids with the same formula.

You can live in any delusional world you want, but the rest of us hear on earth will deal with what's real.

  • since 85? they've been around since 81 son! now what the fuck did i say! re-wording it to me makes you sound like an idiot! keep watching VH1 you might learn about something else! ahahahaha!!!

  • Again, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Their first album came out in 83, they first got together around 78; either way you're wrong, and either way that has nothing to do with what I said.

I started following them "around 85", and you're response is pointless.

  • You're correct with everything you've said. Not sure what ozoid445 is disputing. Some peeps get their kicks from online beef, & it's poinless when they can simply bing &/or google the facts. You'd figure if they're 39yrs old, they should know NE's history in detail-just as I do. I was born in '73 which makes ozoid "older", but not exactly smarter....

  • Yeah, these lil internet gangstas can only feel good about themselves by trying to talk tough on line.

  • @San47di

That's sad because the Jackson 5 did not have the talent that most of these groups have in all their members.

  • @alienspikes2 Apparently you are not a very good "judge" of "Talent!" Have you ever seen the Jackson 5 Variety TV Shows?? The Jackson 5 were "pure raw" talent in EVERY category!! They were not "in studio" fake voices like the groups you refer to! When you attended a Jackson 5 concert, you were NOT disappointed with the complaints of how they didn't sound as good as their records! bThat's why the Jackson 5 survived as long as they did even after leaving Motown!

  • @San47di

Are you serious man?? The Jackson 5? Tell me about their talent before you start disrespecting me! Give me some validation for your argument. Who else could sing other than Michael in the Jackson 5? New Edition had at least 4 real singers. The Jackson 5 were more successful due to Berry Gordy and the work that he put into making them stars not because of their talent.

  • You're absolutely correct SMC799!!!! AND THEN CAME JOHNNY!!!! Johnny has a better voice and has had more experience than Bobby Brown, though I like Brown's voice also. Gill is just a "vocal phenom". New Edition is not only talented, but also very smart businesswise. They have exercised savy when it has come to decisions within the group. Right now, New Edition dominates the "boy groups!" They have emmerged as the kings they always have been, aside from the Temptations and the J5!!!!!!

  • Well of course. But you cannot replace Bobby. That's like replacing one of the members of the Jackson 5. However, bringing in Gill was a great move on the groups part indeed. They studied the hell out of Johnny. Today, I couldn't see N.E. without him. Great replacement!

  • They did replace one of them. Jermaine stayed behind when they switched labels and they brought in Randy. I'm with you on JG though, he's a great talent.

  • Why couldn't you And I speak upon a good lottery number. And not the JACKSON. As I started reading your reply to me, I got word tha "THE KING OF POP" PASSED! Man Im hoping this is just a sick JOKE! Peace...

  • The rulke is: "You're only as good as your last hit". Okay, so he had that hit album, but his voice doesn't have nowhere near the flair that Johnny has. Johnny is a vocalist, writer & musician. Bobby is merely a Chris Brown type. He can be replced.

  • last hit? browns "dont be cruel" & n.e. "heartbreak" both released same day (coincedence?) but brown cd album #1 seller of 89, n.e. nevr hit higher then12th on billboard! i love them all, but you cant say brown didnt do better? then they all did own priojects and none of them came close to browns sales? even your boy johnnys? was the lowest seller of them all! "love me the right way" only hit! "bobby" did well also! "humping around", "good enough"? was more succesfull then all of them? replaced?

  • and THEN came Johnny Gill!

  • they make it harder 4 the singers than rappers

  • Female Michael Jackson here..judge for yourselves:)

  • they said no one could take bobby's place but look jwho arrived....johnny gill?

  • Bobby Brown really did shine when he left the group and threw out one hit after another. Dont be cruel, my perogative, Every little step, Rock witcha, just to name a few. To bad it didn't last.

  • IS RONNIE BRISH

  • thats ralph tresvant

  • what a dumbhead, the guy with the hat is Ralph Tresvant, the lead singer, and the rappers name is Mos Def..........

  • He had a platinum selling remix album of Dont Be Cruel called "Dance You Know It". He also had a platinum selling video called "His Perogative" That's 11 million units right there not to mention his platinum selling single "On Our Own" and seven gold selling singles. That's 15 and a half million units sold from 1988-1992. New Edition hasn't sold 15.5 million during their whole span. I love them all but y'all gotta give Bobby a lil more credit.

  • Johnny did good replacing Bobby because Bobby didn't have a key lead role in the group. But being a solo artists was best for Bobby. I would say he did well. His first album "King of Stage" stunk. "Don't Be Cruel" sold 7 million. His 3rd album Bobby sold 2 million.

  • You didn't know anything about New Edition. Bobby and Ralph had all the solos

  • Also, I was glad they got Johnny Gill. They needed a SOUL vocalist....not an R&B singer. Bobby's vocals will NEVER reach the plateau of Johnny Gill. Bobby had too much ego and didn't respect the art....thus....crack-crazy!!!!

  • What are you talking about, Bobby had a great voice.
