The 1641 massacre of protestants is a myth, Sir Charles Coote had carried out massacres of native Irish people at Wicklow,Clontarf,and Carrickmines,upwards of 5000 catholics were killed by him,Irish rebels in Ulster killed about 1600 protestants in retaliation.In recent studies(2010)the foremost historians in the world have concluded that the protestant massacre story was inspired by propaganda and was used as a false pretext for killing the native Irish and confiscating their land
