  • Khan picks his feet in Phoughkeepsie.

  • Such a classic episode. But I always had a problem with the plot-line of the movie how the Reliant didn't know they were setting down on Ceti Alpha Five instead of six. In any episode they pick up radiation and debris from exploding stars and planets light years away (i.e The Doomsday Machine), plus a schematic should have read that the solar system was missing a planet! Also Chekov came in the second season, made very clear he had just signed aboard. He could know of Khan, Khan didn't know him!

  • @55kudu - Very astute!

  • One of the best of the best episodes ever.

  • This is one of my favorite Star Trek episodes! I liked Khan so much and he is just so badass! My dad, who passed away seven years ago, was a Trekkie so I'm kind of one too. I've been watching the episodes in preperation for the new movie in May. Ricardo Montalban was such a great actor and he will be missed. Rest in peace, Khan.

  • Wow that dark haired girl in that netting was SEXY! I haven't seen Space Seed in so long, who was Khan's wife again?

  • The Enterprise crewwoman who falls for him and assists him in taking over the ship. LT. McGivers I think. She decides to join him in exile after Khan is defeated and they are married after the episode ends.

  • Yes, Rbatty2, that's her name. But the brunette must be her "first lady", their golden net clothes were quite similar, I suppose Khan would have more than a wife (or whatever...) and then Lt. McGivers became part of his collection.

  • Ah yes its possible Khan had a harem of women, sort of thing he'd do. The production team of Star Trek 2, obviously wanted to give Khan a strong motivation for his hatred for Kirk. Saying "...my beloved wife" is a lot more effective than "my awesome mistress #7". And since he gave McGivers a lot of attention, it seemed natural he'd give her a special role. The general assumption everyone makes is McGivers was his wife, the novelization of Trek 2 as well, that does seem to be in the intent.

  • This makes sense, though I cannot assert he was really in love with McGivers, the impression I've got is that he used her to take over Enterprise.

  • Oh yes, that was his real agenda no doubt. I think at least he respected her for choosing to go with him rather than settle for some posh Federation prison. And certainly being trapped on Ceti Alpha V for many years [assuming she didn't die right away] would have allowed a chance to bond since it was a pretty small colony for a big planet. Maybe in exile, his obsession had to justified so she "became" his wife. Since I'm not a genetic superman, I'm not sure how Khan thinks, hee hee!

  • @Rbatty2

It's not hard to see how Khan thought. All of his confrontations or social interactions involved utility i.e. through her ability as a woman to reproduce, or feigned first impressions toward the good doctor and shipmates in order to attain literature on their ship's and it's technology, and then finally, an attempt to tyrannize the fleet altogether.

Eugenics is being manifested in Khan: need for control by dehumanization + humanity as a super-organ, and not free individuals.

    Tyranny.

  • @TheGreatPrince Indeed, quite a ruthless character.

  • 123456...happening abdomen shoes

  • really, i feel so horny HOORNY!

  • lol, dayjoborchestra rule, did you see the new one? who pooed on your dad?, lol its jokes

  • i like Non Treqitur better, but who pooed on your dad is still awesome.

    btw:

    Boing?

  • We offered the world ORDER. It is better to rule in hell than serve in heaven.

  • haha...ruled a quarter of the world from 1992 - 1996...LOL...khan is the biggest intergalactic pimp of all time...well, next to Kirk.

  • Good ol' Kahn

  • Best episode ever. I had this episode posted on youtube until I was banned. Fuck youtube!!

  • that sucks. thx for putting em up though.

  • Well, they want to sell 'em, not give 'em away.

Personally I think it's a dumb business decision. These 40 year old shows are good promotionals for the newer ones, as well as the movies. My girlfriend has never seen "The Wrath of Kahn," and I came here hoping to find "Space Seed" as preparation for renting it. But, since it's not here, we'll probably blow it off and rent something else--something that doesn't require any preparation.

Way to shoot yourselves in the foot, Biz-Ness-Men! :-D

  • naw, you'd probably find "wrath" posted and watch that for free too.

  • Not a chance. It would take too long to download, and this teeny little YouTube window, while its okay for a TV episode with rather cheesy production values, wouldn't do "Wrath" justice.

  • that's certainly true. besides, warner bros would have us buried alive....buried alive.

  • It's Paramount. And they're gentler at first. They start with, "Cease and desist... cease and desist."

Then, if you don't, they bury you alive.
