  • RTC San Diego 1991 CO 248. I agree that this is very sugar coated at least in the way the RDC's are behaving. However, I can easily say that they have much better training and living facilities than anything I had at San Diego. I wish I'd had the opportunity to train in this environment. I think that it's a much more relevant and practical training program that they have now versus what I went through.

  • I'm impressed, high standards but not nearly as intense as the USMC. I was ARMY which is more physical but I like what I saw.

  • Hooah! All I got to say

  • Navy is the only branch of the service that doesn't exploit the hard parts of their basic in videos. Navy likes to keep some things a surprise.

  • lol thous 9 dislikes must have not made it though boot camp.

  • 2:53 girls wearing a jagermeister shirt.. damn that's ballsy

  • During boot camp everybody thinks it the worst tme of their life. After boot camp everybody swears it was a cake walk. Thats how it has always been. Hindsight and Perspective is a helluva thing.

  • Wait a second. . .what's with the uniforms?! When I was in it was the Johnny Cash uniforms, and in the summer, it was whites. Do they even wear Cracker Jacks anymore?! Or Dress white jumpers?! What kind of crap is that?!

  • Wow this video is very sugarcoated. lol

  • You may not get your "phone calls." Expect the worst, so when something good happens its even better. Also the Navy is what you make of it, the best attributes to get out of bootcamp is time management and attention to detail. If you are going submarines, you will get re-trained in subscol so be flexible.

  • If you are shipping out to basic soon. Don't get your answers to your questions from comments on a Youtube video. Everyone's experiences are different. Go to your recruiter.

  • how does the boot camp affect people's love life, especially when you are having trust problems?

  • @blessed2933 More than likely it will end. A lot of broken hearts at boot camp.

  • Sure has changed a lot in 30+ years. Very impressive video

  • how many times are you allowed to call home?

  • @blessed2933 If you do well you get phone calls after 3 weeks

  • @blessed2933 3 times

  • No way in hell they were this nice when i went through.

  • For all the people making dumb comments about the RDC's being too soft let me remind you that this video is a recruitment video. I went through Navy Boot Camp too years ago and not only was there alot more yelling but RDC's would constantly drop the F bomb in just about every sentance. This video is sugarcoated.

  • @MJB919 almost had my ass

  • @MJB919 Learn how to spell "two." shipmate...lol

  • @MJB919 I remember going through RTC Great Lakes back in 1995. It was a lot more intense than this ever hoped to be. Did you guys ever have to "Abandon Ship"?

  • @ModernMWEntrtainment I heard there's no more abandon ship and service week

  • Hooyah Zero!

  • LOL is that guy filipino 2:54

  • R u kidding me with the cell phones?? Granted navy bootcamp was a joke but i truly hope they have not become so soft as to allow the usage of personal phones.

  • @jt2816 The only time you can use your cell phone is when you first arrive and make your 2 minute phone call. After that you must ship it back home, along with your civilian clothes, and anything else you brought.

  • @MJB919 i heard they can keep the phones on them now.

  • @p2005marie nope

  • Did they tuk u into bed, and read u a bed time story. Yall wouldent last 1 day in the Coast Guards

  • @YooDonVito666 dude, you don't even know.

    Navy pays more so idc.

  • wen i went to USMC boot camp at San Diego it made this look like it was a little retriever barking my old DI used Navy basic Training to make us laugh and if we did it would be a load of shit for us

  • They're so nice. Guess it's just for publicity. My experience three years ago was similar + swearing + louder screaming + embarrassment - nice attitude.

  • Fillphino

  • CAN SOMEONE LEAD ME TO SEE THE REAL NAVY LIFE?

  • Ha ha, I was in corps school and field med with Tyler. You didn't join to serve your country dude. We had this talk. But its good for the video I suppose.

  • june 13th!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty much everything I saw in this video is reception... they are at the basic training base, but still haven't made it to the actual basic training yet... this is just a phase to get their uniforms, gear, and processing complete... based on what I learned at Ft. Benning, the Drill Sergeants (and the Navy version, etc.) aren't allowed to PT you and can't really do anything to you while you're at reception. Once you finish at reception, you will then meet your new and permanent Drill Sergeants.

  • i just got out of there a week ago

  • ok my navy boot camp that i went through 9 months ago was like this but i think they forgot all the cussing and ridicule, and embarrasing shit that happens, oh and the sleep deprive and hungry first two days of bootcamp, they pick nice petty officers for this video smh

  • THIS VIDEO IS FUCKIN LYING. IF IT HAD PETTY OFFICER BUTLER AND PO GOGODY IN IT YOU WOULD NEVER GO TO BOOTCAMP!

  • @72OMEGAREIGN hooyah 292!!!!!

  • @jordenetter 292 is the shit, 291...

  • @jordenetter 292 is the shit, 291...

  • @SaintsInHell24 u were in 291?

  • basic is nothing like this. i wish my chief would talk to us like that

  • FUCK I leave April 3rd

  • @Mikenator18 Not too late. ;)

  • I went through NTC Orlando in 1987, and had a great 22 year career, including serving onboard the USS Wisconsin (BB-64) 1988-91. Good luck to any of you who do decide to join!

  • i meant tough

  • @Natedog jr. In airforce bootcamp they do YELL!!!!!! idk y ppl think airforce bmt is so easy when they have never been!!!!! The navy, airforce, and coast guard dont put the real thing up on videos!!!!! they dont have to flaunt to the world that the drill sergeants or ti's are tought... they prove it to us in bootcamp!!!!

  • I spent ten years in the Army and thought my Drills were gonna kill me when I went through BCT! (1982) This looks like my days in the Boy Scouts! The Navy instructors in this video act more like football coaches than military trainers. Thank God for our Navy either way!

  • RTC is NOTHING Like This, This Video is Complete BULLSHIT!

  • I agree, Our RDCs used to talk like sailors, not like an "irritated uncle". I mustve heard the F-world a million times. And boy could they sound off!! lol. There wasnt an ounce of warmth that came out of the things they had to say. The only indication of "help" they gave you was the fact that you made it to "pass and review" and became a sailor. Wheres the trash can wake ups and the breaking of clip boards over the knee?!!!

  • Oh, yeah, I forgot about the A/C barracks. They were building those when I went through. The ones we stayed in were from the 50's. And now they wear tennis shoes. What a cake walk.

  • Hooya P-days. Boot camp was a breeze. The real challenge is after boot camp, called haze grey and underway. Boot camp was a joke. DIV 935 Hooya Hall of Fame DIv

  • Choose your RATE choose your Fate !

  • I agree with all navy boot camps looking so easy on youtube. When I went through, we had a 6 hour pt session and everyone was left with a bloody tail-bone from all of the sit-ups. Where are the people throwing up, where is the in your face wtf are you doing you F***ing moron!!!! Not once have i ever seen a pt beat down, or an RDC 2 inches from a recruits face swapping spit in a video.

  • Gotta love the Filipino IC accents, lmao

  • They are waaaay to nice in this video. Our chief never talked in anything lower than a yell. Even the YNs and HNs were loud. The only time someone was quiet and soothing was when you actually saw an officer in medical during P week.

  • HOOYAH ZERO

  • do it. do it now

  • This is Total BULLSHIT! Not like this at all

  • I feel like every service is for different people. Me, I'm leaning towards the Army, I just feel like it suits my personality better, almost joined the USCG, but backed out last second. I always hear people talk about "oh, Marine Corps Basic is the hardest".... but I think they're just as difficult as the next but in its own way. Plus what's with the Canteens? i thought they switched to camelbacks in '07? maybe just the other branches. either way I respect every one thinking about serving.

  • @bignigga60 Canteens cost $2.00, Camelbacks costs $75-100. Why give a $75-100 item to someone in boot camp who probably wont make it thru.... ? Canteens are easier to clean and maintain. You can disinfect them with soap. the process of cleaning and maintaining the Camelbacks are time consuming.

  • @bignigga60 You have to remember one thing, the Navy want's you for your brain, not your brawn. I couldn't join the Army, I didn't see the point of digging fox holes and sleeping outside in the rain. I knew the Navy would have me sleep in a cozy, climate controlled bed, 3 or more Hot meals a day, and a more relaxed life style. Boot camp is an initiation into an elite club. Boot is not what it's going to be like after graduation. Navy is a Kickback job.. The easiest job I ever had.

  • @Fiberopme1969 This comment disgusts me, as a current sailor myself. I, personally, view the Navy as more than just a "kickback job". To me, the Navy means working hard to keep the ships that serve the USA operable, and it is a LIFESTYLE, not a job.

And do you know what? I take pride in serving in the Navy. Whenever I put on my dress blues, I put them on with pride. And this one BUDS dropout we have in our department that talks shit about the Navy, I constantly scold him for it.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham Roger that!!! There is no kicking back and relaxing on the flight deck! Keep up the good work!

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham You whinny little tard, go join the Army. I was in the IT Department, we learned to work smart NOT hard. Put your big girl panties on and be a Man. The Navy is a Job, I worked and I got paid. A lifestyle is how you live, not how you work. I never worked a hard day the whole time I was in. I just joined to pad my Resume. I got out of what I put into it. I got my degree paid for, get to put VET on my resume, served during war time, Honorable Discharge.

  • aoc ewing was one of my rdc's

the only thing missing in this video is the swearing and staying up all night !!

  • Lol they made it look so much nicer than it is. When u get there you going to get shitted on

  • Holy shit never shaved?

  • lol bootcamp, it taught me how to skate

  • xD filipino accent

  • you are so rite this isnt how it is and i am glad that my experience was not like this because of how they did treat us molded us into the people that we are today

  • i ship 2 weeks from today as a corpsman.

  • " Everyday is a Training Day "

  • If you ever had to do 8-count body builders or had to go to ITED, you were a dirt bag that couldn't follow orders or were too stupid to learn. You got out of the Navy what you put into it so stop being a Biatch and go join the Army.

  • @Fiberopme1969 you must have been in a female division or a division of fuckin ninjas if you never had to do an 8 count

or where you that guy that was lld or siq the hole time till the final pfa??

  • @thorsflipflop No, we were what was referred to as a TOP DIV. We got rid of our IDC's after the 3rd week, never saw them again till Graduation. We got all the flags, won all the competitions against the other divisions and only lost 19 guys. We had no females. I guess you could say we were the best division in that time frame, 8-19-1996 To watch the NEW videos of the RDC now is shameful ! I saw the Ships where you stay and it looks like Disneyland, our Ships looked like Prison!

  • @Fiberopme1969 Never getting IT'd, lol. Even the best divisions get It'd these days, its not all about being punished its about physical training, and discipline. The divisions that didnt get IT'd are the shitbag divisions these days, who got easy RDC's and inspectors who went way too easy on all their inspections, Seems your division was one.

You do realize at some point when your ships were built they were indeed new and therefore "nice"

  • This doesn't show even half of what I remember. Just watchin the recruits at the airport brings back that nervous feelin I got when I was waitin for the bus to get there. I went through nearly 2 years ago. I distinctly remember alot more cussin and yellin when I was there.

  • Petty Officer 1st class Roberts is now Chief Roberts, real nice guy I met him a few times at RTC last month and he's hilarious!

  • @KRUNKDIDDLEZ You should have met him out in town, very cool guy, I remember him very much ! However, there were some real Hard asses that weren't !

  • i rly want to join idk something about the navy interest me i ve tak to recutiers am jin when i graudatae high school next year ao happy

  • @inlovetimmy I went through boot camp about 3 1/2-4 years ago...and im still in. I LOVE it...yeah there is some crappy commands but as long as you do what your supposed to be doing then its a lot of fun. You make great friends and bootcamp is only 8 weeks out of your entire career so dont let it scare you or anything. and some of these people are right...this video only shows the good parts and nice talk for families who watch it...its a little tough but nothing like marines or army.

  • This isn't the way RTC really is... It's a lot more getting yelled at, a lot more impulsive punishment from RDC's, a lot more strict, a lot more cursing, and a lot more drama from other recruits. Fun to watch, though. Cool to see how it looks from the other side.... Kind of. lol

  • This isn't boot camp. I don't know what this shit it!

  • @PartyNakedGee dood thats just the first hour or 2...

  • @PartyNakedGee they obviously aren't going to show what it's really like there. If they did,no one would join.

  • Seriously........never in my division

  • This is hell of alot different than Royal navy basic.

  • I remember that bald filipino rdc... he was an asshole.

  • @f4roxmysox My RDCs were a fat Hispanic MM1, a tall white MR1, and a small black female LS2 (our brother div's black, bald MAC RDC, was unofficially called our 4th and greatest RDC). They were all mean bastards, and brother div's MAC was crazy as fuck. And yet, they formed us in to one, close-knit and successful division, which would become 78 (we lost 3 guys in total) squared-away sailors.

  • Don't do what I did: I saw this video. Took bootcamp lightly. Got there. and HOLY FUCKING SHIT I'M SORRY FOR EVER THINKING BOOTCAMP WOULD BE LIKE THIS IF YOU THINK THAT YOU ARE SERIOUSLY WRONG AND GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL

  • @OlllieJayUSN Its cuz they have to attract ppl not scare them right away i kno they bs alot of it unlike the marines they just show almost everything but ima join the navy anyways :)

  • hehe doody bag!

  • its all cool and easy goin on camera, but take it from my fellow saliors, "There's no crying in the NAVY"!!!

  • What the fail to tell you in bootcamp, is you go serve on a ship for 2 years, then out of the blue they give you orders to Iraq and you to Fort Lewis for 3 months. Then a year in Iraq with the Backwards ass army (no offense boys, just everything you do is wrong) Comeback to your ship, they dont even no who you are. Then you get out saying, wtf just happen?

  • man, this is a real summer camp XD

  • costguard company commanders are tougher than these guys

  • Now the Navy accepts men who have sex with men and will punish anyone who doesn't agree with that despite what the Bible says will happen in Isaiah 5:20.

  • @Occupy4now your ancient book is pathetic

  • @Amplify2012 God's Word is ancient and settled forever in Heaven, unchanging, non-negotiable, the source of all truth. You will either be broken upon it or it will grind you to powder. Matt. 21:44.

  • @Occupy4now so, according to the bible, we've only been around for 11k years? people like you are the reason why religion sucks. it's brainwashed you:P you're a fucking idiot and quoting the bible is like quoting dr.seuss... it's redundant.

  • @Amplify2012 Piss off, you nihilist douche. You don't need to shit on our religion at every chance you can get.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham i'm not a nihilist. i just think that religion is the most hypocritical shit out there.

  • @Amplify2012 Stlll, you don't need to shit on religion at every chance you get. You shat directly on him when the other guy was just quoting the Bible in reference to the video, which is what he believes in.

  • @Occupy4now your a weird little fucker arnt you lol

  • this is so fake i got my ass screamed at so badly i could have collected the spit off my face

  • Navy boot is a joke.

  • What the hell? We had 7 minutes to eat chow from the time the last person sat down. These guys are moving and eating like they have an hour

  • @HMBeaty1 lol they havent slept in 2 days so they sleepy lol

  • 904!

  • haha im in the video this was in 2010. 11:05 geting my haricut

  • this is the nicest first 48 hours ive ever seen...shit even at the airport they yelled at me...called me shitbag and fuckface...help us? shit they were there to destroy you! hahaha this video made me laugh..its nice to know the general public sees the nicest people on the base

  • 10:14 Take your time?! When have those words ever been uttered by an instructor in the entire history of boot camp?

  • these are not instructors.....they are processors... come in, process, and then go to your company and meet your instructors!!!! shut the hell up if you don't know what your talking about... And GO Navy!!!! USA rules!

Company 275 1990 RTC Great lakes

  • @bixon032 Are you not capable of explaining that calmly without becoming personally insulting?

  • @bixon032 Wait a minute... what am I saying? This is YouTube. If I haven't learned to expect that by now I deserve to be told to shut up.

  • wow what happened? jeeze it got chillaxed since i went in 7 years ago

  • @chronic762 This is the version they show to parents, DEP pre-recruits and civilians; it's not what legit boot camp is like.

  • wtf my NJROTC class is harder than this -.-

  • lol at guy crying. Easy mental break down for him.

  • Hmm...no funny connotations like the old Navy bootcamp video you had : /

  • ah my fucking head! I just want to bitch slap all those training officers or whatever the fuck you call it in the navy..they should be more like the Marine Corps

  • this is a joke...

  • Female and male are together in Navy bootcamp?- Is the RCT hats really nessary ha!?

1st battalion Bravo Company Semper FI!

  • I love the Navy but this training is a joke compared to what I went through at Marine Corps Recruit Training. DONT HATE ON ME I LOVE THE NAVY BUT THIS IS JUST WAY TO NICE FOR THE ARMED FORCES.

  • oh the memories. lol.

"HALF RIGHT FACE, MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS!!! GET THERE!! You can thank Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumbass for talking in RANKS!!! "

  • the PO at 2:40 is now a chief as of about October 1st 2011.

  • The reason Marines "yell" is because they want "Every Marine to be a Rifleman", which means the Marine is supposed to go into battle. Actually, I believe the U.S Army should yell at recruits like the Marine Corps do.

Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard should have yelling to actually change the recruit mentally somehow.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

  • @NatedogJr Haha they do yell this is youtube video they dont want to scare people away for recruitment

  • @iTzEviLHoM3r Then why do the Marines let us see yelling....

  • @NatedogJr because obviously they like to keep their name of being tough up. There is no such thing as the toughest branch cuz all branches need each other... no branch cant survive without the other.

  • @A1Cgirl I understand that, but its just that it would be better to see a "non-Hollywood" version of Navy boot camp.

  • @NatedogJr Don't be mistaken. In the "real" Navy boot camp, RDCs, especially if you are unlucky enough to either be in a shitbag division and/or have an arsehole RDC(s), love to tear your arse out, then scream at you when your hand slips on your own sweat while doing 8-counts after having been ITed for hours on end. What you see here is "Hollywood" boot camp, which is to be seen by parents, DEP pre-recruits, and civilians wishing to join, or sailors looking for a laugh.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham

This looks like Candyland compared to what I went through!

  • @zseries32 Shit, this looks like My Little Pony: Great Lakes compared to what I went through.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham

Hell yeah. A chief once told me he was gonna stick my watchstander's tongue up my ass. ...among other things...

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham i thought this looked way too weak..was making me doubt should i join the navy or the marines smh

  • @MrAle313 No, it is tougher in real life. In fact, the RDCs in Great Lakes will actually find your weak points and exploit them to make your life a living hell. My weak point was 8-counts. Guess what my first RDC made me do often? Shit, I did so many 8-counts, that I could barely feel my arms, or move them for that matter. If IT is pleasant, but yelling makes you cry, they will fucking scream and curse at you, and IT less. This sucks, but it also improves recruits by strengthening weaknesses.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham In fact, thanks to all of the 8-counts I did, I managed to do 60 pushups easily, despite the fact that I could barely do 10 before. The weakness of arm strength is gone, because they targeted it and exploited it, forcing me to strengthen that area.

Honestly, I would not give-up my experience at Recruit Training Command for anything.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham I was thinking the same exact thing. Looking back this is a BIG hollywood production compared to what I went through.

  • @tlpass24 I could tell right off the bat that it was "Hollywood" bootcamp.

And on top of that, it is a mixed-division. Mixed-divisions are pussy divisions, and usually get an easier time than all-male divisions. When you combine mixed division and Hollywood, you get what the Navy wants future sailors and parents to see. Then, you actually get to RTC Great Lakes, and you get screamed at. A week later, you get the shit beat out of you after medical clears you.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham Oh how I remember IT.... but it was so much better before lunch. LOL

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham true dat. Navy bootcamp isn't anything that any normal person with half a tough mind can't get through, but it's not peaches and cream and rosie hellos either. Don't go in there expecting to live any of these videos, or you'll be in for a shock lol

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham It's true. This is Hollywood bootcamp. They yelled at us at the airport.

  • @SirSnivyofNottingham I think we are the only branch that sugar coats our recruiting videos this much brother. This shit was nothing like boot camp.

  • Div807 HOF

  • Lol at all the people saying this is the womens department....they yell and scream just like the usmc, this is all camera play

  • RTC good times. 5 min pump and dumps during P Days were great. Having Chief yell and 8 count me to death because my recruit handwriting sucked. Whoever is going to RTC anytime soon, make sure your 7s are like an "L" and remember to not fuck up the Deck Log.

  • yeah I know these guys are treated like princesses

  • Where is the TI's screaming in their faces. That's why I'm joining the marines

  • @narutosasuke365 They may not show it in the video, but the drill instructor does yell at them. In the Marine Corps, screaming drill instructors is what films and society has depicted basic training as, but it happens in all of the U.S armed forces. In reality, no branch is superior to another.

  • @narutosasuke365 so you're joining the Marines because for three months out of your entire military career, you want assholes screaming in your face? Good reason. Have fun.

  • now i know what my boyfriend has been through..

  • Where's the IT sessions?

So glad I'm out of that place.

  • the guy in the ditty bag supply room wasnt as much of an ass october of last year, i think he is ready for a change lmao

  • that guy is a friendly chief.. I bet those recruits graduated to be pussies....

  • leave 2 months from today as an HM.

  • This is soo watered down its not even funny. The rdcs start yelling & screaming at u before you even get off the bus. If they're gonna make a video please be accurate!

  • I'm from TX ( it gets up to 110 here ) will it be cold? Presuming I ship out this winter.

  • @2014giovanni Yeah im from Illinios and yes it does get real cold here. Best of Luck

  • @2014giovanni oh yes it gets cold as hell, i was in basic during november-december, but i am sure it gets colder

  • @2014giovanni I'm glad someone asked about the weather in great lakes.I was there dec.83/jan.84(one of the coldest winter's on record) Thought I made a big mistake ,turned out to be 4yrs. of my life I would'nt trade for anything. good luck

  • 12 Days..... OH MY GOD!!!!

  • 14 Days!
