Elton John wrote all of his songs. Bernie Taupin wrote of the Elton's lyrics. Elton was never a lyricist, but he wrote all the fantastic music you hear. They were actually united by an ad Elton put out in the paper looking for a lyricist. It was only after Elton came out with his sexuality that Bernie left.

I've been following Elton and the whole Gang since 1970 and have seen him live 32 times in various forms ! Elton, Elton with Davey Johnstone, Dee Murray (RIP), and Nigel Olsen. Plus many other excellent musician's ! Even back then though, was there ever a doubt about Elton's sexuality ?

@clde8her--yes I am obviously aware of over-dubs being done before this--my comment was that he was doing it with his own voice many times over--this gives a wall of sound like a beach boys song or beatles ala abbey road---obviously Hendrix, Les Paul, and according to you Buddy Holly all came first---I don't know of many tracks before this where individuals used their own voice over-dubbed to create the sound we got here
