I bought this machine in Holland years ago. It was very reliable but most (wax) concert cylinders are shrunk today and won't fit on the mandrel properly. I sold it because it was too frustrating for me not to play the last inch of an old concert cylinder. It was definitely a problem with the records and not the mandrel. Even standard cylinders shrink but at a much lower ratio because of their smaller size. Thus, we normally don't pay attention to it as these usually still fit well enough.
Phonatic, I have reciently got a simula machine. you know like the edison machines that have model B, C reproducer etc. does columbia have different reproducers? can I play brown wax cylinders on the machine/reproducer in this video?
I am not sure if you have the large mandrel to play the large concert cylinders, but Peter Dilg sells some 5" concert cylinders in reproduction. Originals are harder to find, and alot of them are broken.
That is a very nice machine. Sounds great! Sounds like your belt is good and the reproducer sounds rebuilt and rewaxed. Nice. My Columbia Q sounds about the same. I noticed your key keeps turning not sure if thats normal though.
Yes, you were right. I rebuilt the the reproducer, gave it a new gasket and wax. The motor is similar to the Eagle, therefore the turning of the key is correct. Too bad, motors with a turning key/crank cannot be rewound while playing.
You can also make Q to sound nice and steady. The springs have been relubricated and I readjusted the governor which can be quite often the reason for constant speed problems.
Diese Walze ist gar nicht so selten. Die Blue Amberol ist aber noch einfacher zu finden.

Ich wunsche, daß Ich dieser Walze finden könnte.

Phonatic, in what year was recorded this Columbia cylinder?

I don't have an exact reference for these but the recording was surely made around 1908.
The phonograph dates from 1901.

Are you planning on making a video of a concert cylinder playing on this machine?
