How did you grow your hair for it to become so BEAUTIFUL and long? Im trying my best to grow and get it long just like yours? Can I please get some personal tips or products you use? I would appreciate it ;) Great video by the way!
when the comb can't pass thru your roots, do you detangle ur hair from root to tip before washing or after washing and conditioning to soften the roots?
People always said that SISTAS hair don't grow..but its the relaxers and not taking care if it that caused it to break .... Your hair is beautiful Thankyou for the inspiring video :) :) :)
Beautiful long hair. Do you wear your hair in mostly protective (braids) hair styles? Also, when you blowout your hair, how much heat do you actually use?
Girl, your hair discipline is awesome! You are a great inspiration. Thank you for sharing some of your hair products and tools. I have incorporated them into my hair regimen.
I Love your hair i now have a sew in for about two months im about to take it out and i dont want another perm so im going natural need advice on how to make it grow im getting an dominican blow out is that a good starting point to never relax my hair again
that peircing IS cute! but im too big of a cry baby to get anything like that done! btw i saw your video for the information about your septum peircing, i'm really glad you posted it!
It depends on what you want to accomplish being that you have fine hair....Without knowing that, I'd say stick with styles that show volume such as twistouts, afros, large curls seperated etc...vs. straight looks or braids.
@curlicakes...very true! Great point.! Most of us have been curling, pressing and perming since we were kids.I had hair down my back when I was a CHILD but my mom couldnt manage it. It made her CRY bc it was thick and long & it took HOURS 2 wash& dry it! Had my mom NOT permed my hair,I'd still have hair like LHDC...Genetics, heat & chemicals play a big part . Like any other race/nationality we can grow long hair but we often damage it at an early age trying 2 conform or make it more manageble

I love all your vids hun!! I need to post some of mine up but I'm tryna wait till I got some progress to show. LOL But since I been transitioning my hair grew like 1 1/2 inches from the end of Aug till now. I'm so exited!! Your one of my biggest inspirations girlie!!! "^_^"
omg my hair is the same texture as yours it's about 9 inches long when it's wet like yours is in this video and it's below my bra strap that goes across my back ; i've been natural for almost one year now and i transitioned for a year before i bced last year <3
your hair is an inspiration to me because i am in a pursuit of growing my hair long;it's def growing(i go to the beauty shop for blowouts) but it gets SO tangly wen wet nd i hate it. your hair is beautiful!!!
I have texture similar to yours. I think the hardest thing for us is to have patience. We need to be kind to our hair. We are too rough. May have stemmed from hot combs and getting our hair done as children. But we need to be gentle. Textured hair needs special care - not like straight hair that just hangs. Good video. Keep it up - more sistahs need to listen.
Thank you for these vids! It is SO encouraging to actually FINALLY know how to manage and take care of natural hair and get it to grow healthy AND disspell the myth that our hair doesn't grow long w/o extensions, weave, wigs, etc. 100's of years in lack of knowledge finally we reach enlightenment:)
Just wanted to point out to anyone who was wondering where her shrinkage is, she straightens and blow dries her hair alot so that would have permanently loosened her curl pattern
@Learner u were commenting on her lack of shrinkage for 4b hair, u should keep in mind she straightens and blow dries her hair ALOT so that will permanently loosen her curl pattern too
Hey im still a little confused... i thought u washed you hair in braids....after you take your braids out do you wash your hair again? And do you use a deep conditioner?
is your hair 4B? if so, howcome you have barely any shrinkage..? your hair is gorgeous...but I always feel so discouraged when I see natural hair with little shrinkage like this..
I have about APL length right now....and my hair still shrinks into a tiny afro after ANYTHING with water touches it...lol like seriously, It's killing me....could you please please make a video to help up mega-shrinkage sistas out :(
I understand that people like to see people whom they relate to exactly, but that'snot always the case. It's important to draw info from many places and grow your hair to its desired length.
Keep in mind that when I went natural, I didn't see women with my" hair type" or texture, I did my own thing and now I am a natural with a nice length of hair that's of course my texture and "hair type".
@Learner012 - hello Learner012, I have 4b hair too and my hair is a little pass Apl now. I started using parachute and louanne coconut oil and I've noticed I don't have as much shrinkage as I use to. I also use castor oil, this makes my hair soft like silk. Try prepooing. Use conditioner to wash your hair instead of shampoo from time to time. Keeps the hair soft and managable. A little straighter as well. Hope this helps a little. Keep growing sista!

hi. beautiful hair! does your hair respond well to cones? do you use them all the time? you have ever had any trouble with cones staying in your hair? thanx.
I hate to sound like I'm a groupie, but I must say you have the best hair on Youtube. Please do more videos about trimming and washing. I never really liked washing my hair in braids. I feel like the poo is not getting through my hair and scalp.
Did you find that when your hair got healthier, you had less shedding?
I definitely did notice shedding once my hair was natural (aka when it got healthier).
My hair was paper thin when I had a perm if you could even imagine that by looking at my hair now.
Washing in braids doesn't get all of the residue out of your hair, but I for me it's better than nothing. Since I focus on the roots when i wash my hair out of braids, I just follow suit in braids and only run my fingers b/w the braids taking care not to break any hairs.
Love your hair, after you wash your hair how do you style it? I don't like wearing my hair in wash n' go styles, and I saw in your other videos that you mostly wear french braids. Do you have any other ways you style your dry hair besides french braids? (I can't wear my hair in braids)
I saw your hair growth video. When you hair first started growing you had an afro puff. As your hair grew the texture changed? or was it like that when it dries?
Your hair looks very healthy. Did you clip your ends as it grew?..
I guess you missed it, but I have mentioned in a few other vids that my hair is heat trained. The same strands of hair will loosen over years of blowdrying. I clip when I have excessive splits. My last hair cut was oct 2008, but I clip splits individually as I see them sometimes.
Heat training happened to me too and I didn't like it so much. It's when your hair texture is permanently altered because of continuous heat styling. I pressed my hair so much that the front would be straight even when wet. I didn't know it had a name, but I guess it was heat trained.
Aww, sorry you don't like the results of using heat on your hair
I think that there's only a thin line b/w heat damage hair being non revertable and bone straight when wet is usually categorized as heat damage it's "heat training" when the hair maintains some of its curl pattern. I actuall had some bone straught strands in the back when i went to a bad salon. Just trim is slowly over time and try to work gently with it because those straight sections get tangled more than the fluffy portions
Your hair is gorgeous. I am in college and so sick of being a slave to my hair, so come next semester I want to go natural. Do you have any advice on how I should start this process? Thanks for being so inspiring! Also, how long did it take for your hair to grow that long and is there anything I can do after I cut my hair down to the new growth to help it grow long like yours?
wildorchild765-If you eat healthy and keep your ends healthy your hair can grow at a pretty normal rate. Also drink water, it keeps the scalp moist. Make sure you eat plenty of proteins and fruits and vegetables. Protein means first importance. Good luck.
a lot of black women have relaxers at early ages and the relaxer damages the hair pretty badly and if they don't take care of it well enough, the hair breaks. it's kinda like the rate of growth is pretty close to the rate of breakage so it's hard for those type of women to have AND maintain long hair
@booboo7786 Hi there. Afro textured hair is very curly- for some people, depending on their hair 'type' (esp 4C),so curly in fact that we call it kinky. Hair like this is very prone to dryness because natural hair oils from the scalp that normally help hair retain moisture (oils seal in moisture) are not able to navigate all the kinks and curls and have a hard time reaching the tips of our hair. Also, since tha hair is so curly, it is prone to knots.
@booboo7786. Now imagine the combination of dry hair, knots and styling (combing, manipulating our hair) and you can see that it is vry prone to breakage. So, what happens is that african hair grows at the same rate as other types of hair but it often breaks at the ends. This is why it is so important for us to moisturize our hair and manipulate it minimally (eg braids, twists - called protective styles because they protect our hair frm damage), so that we can RETAIN length without breakage.
@booboo7786 Lol. sorry, in summary then. We can grow our hair long with lots of care (moisture and minimal manipulation). There are MANY black women with long hair- relaxed and natural. Also, a 'fro is actually longer than it looks- if you stretch the hair from its natural curl (relax it, blw dry it etc) you see it's true length.
@booboo7786 black people typically have the most fragile hair type and we dont know how to properly take care of it. Secondly, so many products are targeted to black women and they promise "growth" ad "healthy long hair" but if you read the ingredients it will RUIN your hair. When we all start educating ourselves on how to properly take care of our hair (i just started learning 7 month ago) then we will see more black people with long/healthy hair. Oh and another reason --> relaxers!
@booboo7786 the reason you rarely see african american ladies with very long hair is b/c of a long standing misconception that we can't grow long hair but of course that's a lie...another reason is that many have no idea how to properly take care of their,, to keep your hair loaded down with super harsh chemical for yrs at a time causes major damage to the hair and therefore it wont grow..as you see this young lady take the time to care for hair and it's growing!
@rachelmm05 i am really glad you said that I appreciate your comment. I am also transitioning and I do believe black women are beautiful and that we can grow long healthy hair. I am currently on the journey to do just so. i have been getting bad backlash from my fellow black people. They make comments like " you will not be sophisticated" wow how we enslave our minds to think that we are nothing. (we are still in a slavery mindset) anyway thank you again
@booboo7786 Black people CAN grow long hair.. actually some black people's hair is a lot longer than you would think but due to shrinkage (especially if it's natural) it's really hard to tell how long their hair is. we also try so hard to make our hair manageable and straight they we often damage it and it just breaks off when it should be getting longer...
@booboo7786 Many black people have very long hair, but many Americans, including many black people, think that beautiful hair comes in only one texture: straight, and as a result, spend time and money trying to force it into being straight all the time via too much heat, over using chemicals, and other things that damage it and break it off. Those with long hair typically respect its natural texture. After all, some of the longest hair in the world are locs on African and African American heads!
@AngelaCelesteMay I'm sorry to correct you, but for the sake of everyone else reading this, who may not completely understand. Locks are the result of interlocking hair, most of which have broken away from the hair at the root of the scalp, hence the term locks aka dreadlocks. If it were combed out, most locks would be very badly damaged hair of strands, leading to maybe only a few inches of healthy hair at closer length towards the scalp. i'm jamaican. doesn't make me an authority but i know.
hey long hair, Just one question for now lol, did you experience your texture to get looser with the length?? from looking at your progress video at 0:24 your curl pattern looks looser now than then, would you say this is due to the weight of your hair now that it's longer?
Beautiful! i love your hair. Is your texture 4a,b or c? I have long kinky hair also (passed shoulder length but not as long as your's yet). how do you deal with all of it? What products do you use? Thank you.
It's like a rope! and she is black! Black comes in all colors and textures. :)

Love your hair, after you wash your hair how do you style it? I don't like wearing my hair in wash n' go styles, and I saw in your other videos that you mostly wear french braids. Do you have any other ways you style your dry hair besides french braids? (I can't wear my hair in braids)
FrenchMLSBABS 2 years ago
I saw your hair growth video. When you hair first started growing you had an afro puff. As your hair grew the texture changed? or was it like that when it dries?
Your hair looks very healthy. Did you clip your ends as it grew?..
thejelan 2 years ago
I guess you missed it, but I have mentioned in a few other vids that my hair is heat trained. The same strands of hair will loosen over years of blowdrying. I clip when I have excessive splits. My last hair cut was oct 2008, but I clip splits individually as I see them sometimes.
ty for viewing, be well
Longhairdontcare2011 2 years ago
How exactly do you heat train? or rather what exactly is that?
Flygirl19 2 years ago
Heat training happened to me too and I didn't like it so much. It's when your hair texture is permanently altered because of continuous heat styling. I pressed my hair so much that the front would be straight even when wet. I didn't know it had a name, but I guess it was heat trained.
TheUntouchables6 2 years ago
Aww, sorry you don't like the results of using heat on your hair
I think that there's only a thin line b/w heat damage hair being non revertable and bone straight when wet is usually categorized as heat damage it's "heat training" when the hair maintains some of its curl pattern. I actuall had some bone straught strands in the back when i went to a bad salon. Just trim is slowly over time and try to work gently with it because those straight sections get tangled more than the fluffy portions

What if u never used heat but ur hair is bone-straight but still afro-ish? my hair aint even long...

Your hair is gorgeous. I am in college and so sick of being a slave to my hair, so come next semester I want to go natural. Do you have any advice on how I should start this process? Thanks for being so inspiring! Also, how long did it take for your hair to grow that long and is there anything I can do after I cut my hair down to the new growth to help it grow long like yours?
wildorchid765 2 years ago 2
wildorchild765-If you eat healthy and keep your ends healthy your hair can grow at a pretty normal rate. Also drink water, it keeps the scalp moist. Make sure you eat plenty of proteins and fruits and vegetables. Protein means first importance. Good luck.

@booboo7786
Are you Black? Do you have long hair?
Longhairdontcare2011 1 year ago 53
@booboo7786
a lot of black women have relaxers at early ages and the relaxer damages the hair pretty badly and if they don't take care of it well enough, the hair breaks. it's kinda like the rate of growth is pretty close to the rate of breakage so it's hard for those type of women to have AND maintain long hair
jilaipi 1 year ago 3
@booboo7786 Hi there. Afro textured hair is very curly- for some people, depending on their hair 'type' (esp 4C),so curly in fact that we call it kinky. Hair like this is very prone to dryness because natural hair oils from the scalp that normally help hair retain moisture (oils seal in moisture) are not able to navigate all the kinks and curls and have a hard time reaching the tips of our hair. Also, since tha hair is so curly, it is prone to knots.
cjojay 1 year ago
@booboo7786. Now imagine the combination of dry hair, knots and styling (combing, manipulating our hair) and you can see that it is vry prone to breakage. So, what happens is that african hair grows at the same rate as other types of hair but it often breaks at the ends. This is why it is so important for us to moisturize our hair and manipulate it minimally (eg braids, twists - called protective styles because they protect our hair frm damage), so that we can RETAIN length without breakage.
cjojay 1 year ago
@booboo7786 Lol. sorry, in summary then. We can grow our hair long with lots of care (moisture and minimal manipulation). There are MANY black women with long hair- relaxed and natural. Also, a 'fro is actually longer than it looks- if you stretch the hair from its natural curl (relax it, blw dry it etc) you see it's true length.

@booboo7786 the problem is we dont know how to....but the infornation is out there....i found plenty of websites that helped me.....
14louisa 1 year ago
@booboo7786 black people typically have the most fragile hair type and we dont know how to properly take care of it. Secondly, so many products are targeted to black women and they promise "growth" ad "healthy long hair" but if you read the ingredients it will RUIN your hair. When we all start educating ourselves on how to properly take care of our hair (i just started learning 7 month ago) then we will see more black people with long/healthy hair. Oh and another reason --> relaxers!
sherinaMTL 1 year ago 10
@booboo7786 the reason you rarely see african american ladies with very long hair is b/c of a long standing misconception that we can't grow long hair but of course that's a lie...another reason is that many have no idea how to properly take care of their,, to keep your hair loaded down with super harsh chemical for yrs at a time causes major damage to the hair and therefore it wont grow..as you see this young lady take the time to care for hair and it's growing!
rachelmm05 1 year ago 2
@rachelmm05 i am really glad you said that I appreciate your comment. I am also transitioning and I do believe black women are beautiful and that we can grow long healthy hair. I am currently on the journey to do just so. i have been getting bad backlash from my fellow black people. They make comments like " you will not be sophisticated" wow how we enslave our minds to think that we are nothing. (we are still in a slavery mindset) anyway thank you again
Carlaesteful 11 months ago 3
@booboo7786 Black people CAN grow long hair.. actually some black people's hair is a lot longer than you would think but due to shrinkage (especially if it's natural) it's really hard to tell how long their hair is. we also try so hard to make our hair manageable and straight they we often damage it and it just breaks off when it should be getting longer...
curlicakes 1 year ago 10
@booboo7786 Many black people have very long hair, but many Americans, including many black people, think that beautiful hair comes in only one texture: straight, and as a result, spend time and money trying to force it into being straight all the time via too much heat, over using chemicals, and other things that damage it and break it off. Those with long hair typically respect its natural texture. After all, some of the longest hair in the world are locs on African and African American heads!
AngelaCelesteMay 1 year ago 17
@AngelaCelesteMay I'm sorry to correct you, but for the sake of everyone else reading this, who may not completely understand. Locks are the result of interlocking hair, most of which have broken away from the hair at the root of the scalp, hence the term locks aka dreadlocks. If it were combed out, most locks would be very badly damaged hair of strands, leading to maybe only a few inches of healthy hair at closer length towards the scalp. i'm jamaican. doesn't make me an authority but i know.

Your hair is so beautiful, you got me thinking of going natural. My hair was so much longer before I started with chemicals.

Longhairdontcare2011 2 years ago
hey long hair, Just one question for now lol, did you experience your texture to get looser with the length?? from looking at your progress video at 0:24 your curl pattern looks looser now than then, would you say this is due to the weight of your hair now that it's longer?
SKALOLE 2 years ago
I did notice that, as well as looser b/c I do use heat. :D
Longhairdontcare2011 2 years ago
Do you use enoug heat to where it would change your hair texture??
