  • Marijuana shouldnt be a means to approaching the godhead after the godhead has been reconciled with. its psychologically addictive indeed, and when we use marijuana (and spirituality for that matter) as an escape, we are not facing the eternal truth within us all..... we are merely running from it. but to sit here and to say whats right and wrong on an individuals own path, that i can not agree with in the slightest. many people find loads of inspiration and direction after smoking some weed!!

  • i can take away my pain for hours on end with a drug called cannabis, alcohol as well , the alchohol is legal and cheap bbut the cannabis much healthier and beneficial,

Although i do agree with this guy its not for meditation it is an escape,

i enjoy my sober times aswell and these are truly the times i can ¬meditate¬

and ponder life , ,, but sometimes you DO need that escape from reality to rest the brain if your brain work s overtime like mine, i may be dead if it wasnt for drugs : /

  • I agree to a certain extent. I considered it to be sacrament and was a minister in a cannabis church. Majority I agree with in this video. Cannabis creates in my mind an artificial spiritual experience. A nice illusion that can easily be misinterpreted as a spiritual union with god. I live a sober life majority of the time and see sobriety is the way of life most beneficial. I'm 23 and see things slightly different. Thanks for sharing. Be well

  • Marijuana is a deception and is a slow poison, i used for a long time thinking that it was increasing my spirituality only to find out that i was inviting demons into my being, i have not used for almost two months now and i am much better off.

  • One time I smoked some pot and I started to meditate a little bit and then I opened my eyes and looked at my hands and felt EXACTLY like I had just opened my eyes for the first time and was seeing my hands for the first time as if I had just been beamed into my body.

  • Hallucinations and mind chatter plague us even when we are "sober". Meditation, contemplation, prayer, and mantra allow us to tune into the general area of Self. Marijuana, for many people, is that magnifying tool that zooms into our (already present) hallucinations and chatter; allowing one to tune into an area of Self on a finer measurement/scale. Remember, hallucinations and mind chatter are already present regardless.

  • Good answer. Thanks!

  • @sergsfault, your chakras arent healthily balanced my friend.

  • @92dilly 99 percent of people's chakras arent balanced so yeah...weed makes them more unbalanced ....he is right people are defending this drug cos they're addicted to it and dont even know it because its not killing them like heroin would..but in the long run its just as bad .....i ha dno idea i was addicted i kept making excuses...only now when i look back i see that it was one hell of addiction...for god's sake stoners smoke weed every day is that not addiction?

  • @sergsfault And you're happy to be a part of that group? Sad.

  • here's my story 6 months of smoking weed made me even more depressed then i was.made me paranoid..made me obssesed with when i wa sgonna smoke where i was gonna get it.turned my dreams into nightmares its been two months and my dreams are still nightmares...remincsing on those 6 months i feel creepy depressed and scared. 30 minutes of bliss then 5 houres of emptines and paranoia..i'll be damned if i touch that drug again

  • its the second time i'v enetered a close to meditation state of mind while watching his videos!!!....wow wow wow!!!

  • marijuana is a plant, a child of mother earth. its like inhaling a little bit of the earths consciousness. and there are more is more than one path. i really enjoy your videos but this one just seemed a bit close minded...

  • @surfchic168c i thought the same way...but i was doing pot almost evry day back then)...no seriosly...he is right..maybe it is not as bad as alchohol or heroin but it still is a drug and it too can be very addicting....and trust me pot makes you very very dellusional...it is best if you realise it as soon as possible...why would you need to be more delluded

  • this guy speaks sense ive smoked everyday for ten years and i am living proof of how smoking huge amounts everyday does slow you down. i was much more spiritual when i first started smoking. i think it should be used in moderation maybe once a week but that is hard to do after years of over exposure

  • why is this guy saying marijuana is gonna kill you, not one person has died from it yet lol

  • @TheHoffmanHouse he doesnt mean it litterally

  • @TheHoffmanHouse He's no MJ expert, but still give his idea some credit. He is a master in his own right, and if he says mind altering substances don't help and are generally not good for you, there might be something there. He's not just talking about bad for your life, but for your soul-blossoming. I have done my own research, it seems that certain strains are much more harmful (ie too much thc, very little cbd) to the brain and others MAYBE harmless, but at least consider his words.

  • Okay these days, marijuana is grown by greedy people who put nasty chemicals in the plant to make it grow faster or add a little weight, all in the hopes of making money, money is evil... say I take natural seeds from a good source, and grow them naturally on my own in a garden with the rest of my vegetation, and then smoke this beautiful herb that was made for a reason... am I doing myself any harm?

  • @Bhong1000 This is true. Prohibition has caused

society to put Cannabis in the hands of fool. but that doesn't

mean you cannot take control of your own life and Cannabis

supply. Casanova said it best, " In the hands of the fool medicine is poison in the hands of the wise poison is medicine"

  • Cannabis led me to ask the right questions on life. It helped but now I am done with it and I agree about the pollution of body. However, I do think it is a good tool for some, there are no right or wrong paths to godliness? Just the more or less ardous?

  • but it was marijuana that lead me to the spirituality and yoga in the first place..i've learned much from Acharya Shree Yogeesh but as far s the marijuana goes i must disagree with him

  • yogee, I recently posted a comment on this video, and I just want to let it be known that while I dont completely share your opinion on this subject, I still thank you and greatly respect what you're doing here on youtube. You are a great spiritual teacher, and I applaud you :)

  • It is said that drugs change your state of consciousness but in truth consciousness remains the same it's only chemicals in your brains that cause hallucinations. In worst it can makes minds go crazy, paranoid and schizophrenic.

  • dogma of anyform gives me warning signs

  • I think most organized religions are bad path to spirituality, there are no rules when it comes to your spirituality, religions place way too many restrictions on you they are far moe poisonis to the mind than cannabis could ever be. do whatever works for you

    Namaste

  • So is it always sac religious to take a drug for a short period of time, like a moderate pain killer, to help you function in todays high paced, work all the time kind of society that i live in, in the U.S. ????

  • Haha, if this guy is so smart and right, why doesn´t he talk about facts:D. The facts prove that this jogee is extremely wrong, no damage to the brain, and no deaths. And this guy says: It´s a poison that is slowly going to kill ya.:D

  • I bet this guy has never smoked weed anyway, I'm not saying that he is not being truthful, but if he had smoked it he would know that it doesn't make you hallucinate. Bob Marley always said "it mek you meditate" wheras "alcohol jus mek you drunk man"

  • a man is as strong as his medicines

  • I think his term for 'Slow Poison' refers to the mental effect majiruana gives, wich can be more attaching than liberating, causing to slow your spiritual path instead of helping it. But this offcourse depends on the person.

  • The real problem with drugs and spirituality, lies behind the person.

As Yogeeshashram explains, Shiva was very healthy and did meditation and was capable of withstanding alot, for example; extreme cold.

he might have used drugs, but he was capable of dealing with the side effects, Including Addiction and Attachement!

So Drugs for Spiritual path - WRONG. Meditation is the only true key.

Meditation AND Drugs? - Is a Possibility.

If you dont leth it harm you, it can help. else not.

  • @ImADancerrrr what is meditation the key for?

  • Don't take marijuana for spirituality...Take it to get FADED!!! But remain unattached with vipassana....

  • this is actually entirely true.

i had a self recollection on smoking weed for the first time in months...

was un intentional COMPLETELY, but it happened.

but when i wanted to be spiritual, just got me depressed.

  • well the thing is most people are not into meditation or spirituality, but (my personal experience:) cannabis use can make them more open minded and interested in those areas. In fact, our society of these modern days is so programmed and manipulated (due to media, public school, etc) that its pathetic for the average person not to use it at least once every season because they probably won;t be able to tthink for themselves.

  • Its up to the individual to decide for themselves if this could be helpful or not. What is YOUR reason for use?Shiva used it for healing.Don't forget death comes to all beings who use marijuana or not.If you pray and think about shiva and his greatness while using or not--- then you will be all right.Don't feel bad about using it for medical use if it relieves suffering-- mental or physical.

  • I appreciate you speaking the truth once again. I have taken care of so many patients who have been heavy into this drug for years thinking it did them no harm....now they are homeless, have panic attacks and have the brain capacity of an donkey.

  • Here's my issue. I have a Bi-Polar disorder. It's either pharmaceuticals which really cause all sorts of physical abnormalities or a little cannibis at night. I know this is not a spiritual practice. I am spiritual and meditate without aids of any kind. I would say I don't have your typical situation.

  • You wanna get "spiritual" ? Then fast ........

  • Well ya know the world is maya no matter what until you really look into it to find that it is an illusion. I think experiencing something you know for sure is an illusion would help you recognize the illusory aspects of the world.

Personally the first time I experienced cannabis I was in a state of no thought, no feeling, no senses; nothing. My feeling is that it can make you more aware of the subtle body but your mind has to be tame to work with it. Otherwise its just overwhelming emotions.

  • But you can't get physically addicted to Marijuana...

  • you dont know that hard marihuana we've got in switzerland.... of this u can

  • just mentaly...

but people with week minds haha

  • exactly. people with weak minds are whats wrong with the world

  • @AndrewKH85

I agree in a way, but the real reason is that the world is run by selfish people

  • @HavoX1337

    He didn't specify physical addiction.

  • As a person, keen to develop my spiritual nature. I totally agree with Yogeesh.

Keeping your mind and body, strong and "clean" (sounds like a balance to me) it is not something you can easily achieve But a great value to have.

  • Im a Texan. I like to smoke weed, and I like to think of God, and I like to pray. I agree that weed makes me slower, thats kind of the idea because my society is sick and moving to fast. The USA GOV has prohibited it. Not everyone agrees. You have made me think. I now know I AM SICK.

  • Attachments to anything leads to suffering. A real practiotioner of spirituality can reach higher degrees of spirituality without an aid of crutches. Some expiriences may be beutiful but they are only temporary leaving one empty once the drug is out of the body. True spirituality well practiced leaves one in an all natural state of love and peace, without the use of external objects.

  • I'm a spiritualist, and I use marijuana then and again. But yeah it doesnt help you meditate or whatever, its not real mediatation. If you smoke lots everday it does not kill you like cigarettes/tobacco but it makes you paranoid and you can become mental. However drugs dont help you with spirituality, you can take anything legal/illegal it'll give you illusions. Thats it.

  • Hate, intolerance, and war is the true poison.

  • Acharyaji, you speak against churches and jesus ,they dont care but you speak against marijuana look how many people oppose and comment, thats the way our world is turning into, thanks for your initiation.

  • MJ is neither good nor bad. It has the potential to be bad and the potential to be good. It all depends on the user, whether he/she will be responsible with the herb. On the topic of spirituality, if there is true intent in a person's heart, I see no problem with using marijuana as an aid. But what he says about spirituality being an excuse for use is true in many cases, but not all. Lastly, spirituality should be mostly practiced in a sober state, since we naturally are sober beings.

  • totally agree

  • i agree, continuous drug slows down brain but it's proven that it doesn't kill brain cells.

  • I have come to tremendous realizations under the influence of Marijuana...all things appear clearer, and I can connect easily with the 'great' within me. I have understood things beyond my own scope of understanding...experienced amazing sensations. Maybe you can say it is all an illusion, but what isn't? Everything that's real is inside our minds...

  • i disagree completely. my meditation is enhanced tenfold. it helps my emotions wash away and helps me concentrate within. There have been times when I instantly connect with the source with a little help. If there is anything I have learned about spirituality is that everyones path is different. do your own research.

  • In my opinion, Marijuana does help see past a lot of self-imposed illusions, as well as the illusion of this reality itself. Marijuana has much more benefactors as opposed to cons. If you research, you will find Marijuana helps cure asthma, ADD, and much more. Even helps to reduce cancer and cancerous tumors. I do not agree with everyday use of the drug but experiments and occasional use every few months wouldn't harm you. Tea is the healthiest form of consumption. Meditation is better though.

  • 26 now, tired of forgetting crap (like how old i am NOW in my last comment lol funny, but not. time to grow up, abandon my lazyloser stoner friends

  • Wow, agreeable in every way. started smokin when 17, will be quitting in August- why not?

  • Very True Sir, People make lame excuses to cover their drug use.

  • wat about recreational use?

  • Dr. Acharya is right, you rascals! Marijuana is only used for medicinal purposes.(PERIOD!) There's nothing like having natural herbs, fruits and vegetables to reinforce your mind. Anyway this is just for the body, but it's far better than being a druggy. I feel sad about these people who are trapped by these "drugs" Until they remove their ignorance and accept their condition, then and only then can they be cured. I have "friends" who smoke weed, but they're not interested in changing.

  • actually u shouldnt be addicted to it or anything for that matter...i mean if you are addicted to eating then it is bad for you as well..but you got to eat something to live...so i guess marijuana is very important in meditation but noone should let it control themselves..this is bullshit...i am taking marijuana for 5 yrs....living a very happpy life..

  • Since you enjoy your hallucinations for 5 years, keep going.

  • We all enjoy our own hallucinations. Consensus reality is a mass hallucination. Get into a sensory deprivation tank, don't take any substances, and prepare to wig out. Your brain will create its own chemical response via your pineal gland, and you will hallucinate vividly.. You do this when you dream at night. We are all addicted to the DMT our pineal gland manufactures. Our brains are wired that way. Hallucinogens merely trigger the receptors for chemicals that our brains produce naturally.

  • @yogeeshashram How disgusting to mock a lost soul. If not how cliched to advise someone smoke more. I love your teachings; yet my heart sinks at this inorance. Namaste

  • PART3:so not evreyone that takes marijuana is a freakin idiot and only doing it to get high.cancer, gluacoma, altimerz, anxiety disorders (yes anxiety disorders, who would of thought with getting paranoid at first, but it has the reverse effect on panic and anxiety disorders) they are even proscribing it medically for ADD and ADHD some parents op for the marijuana rather then the riddlin. marijuana in pill form for children of course.

  • PART2: anti depression meds. have been known to cause liver and kidney damage plus people also taking anti depresents run a risk of commiting suicide in teens the number is higher.

  • PART1:well if only sick people should take it then that means its okay for alot of people to use it. do you know that in Cali, they have over 200 conditions that marijuana is proscribed for. clinical and manic depression being just 2 of them. (i would rather use Marijuana then anti depressents anyday) god only know what chemicals are in those.

  • Are you serious?! For depression?!? It cuases depression! Anti depressents are no good either. Light thearapy is they way to go...blue light spectrum. No risk of side-effects aside from mania if it's used more than 20 min a day. Equally effective

  • well he has a somewhat conservative view point. fact is yogis have used marijuana as a spiritual sacrament way before this fella on the screen. the anti-marijuana stance has been as influence on indian cultural as has western astrology, Christianity, as well as many other things.

  • Those "yogis" are not really spiritual. Those are what we call sadhus , who are fake and addicted. Marjiuana is NEVER used for spirituality in India.

  • You bet it is brother !

  • Do you drink wine? Wine is far more "poisonous" to your body than MJ .

  • No Acharya Shree Yogeesh does not drink wine. Alchohol is poisonous to the body.

  • Thanks for responding. I have been watching these videos for hours tonight. This man is real...I can feel it...hear it...see it.

I am very impressed and will tell others I know to watch. Should I start from the beginning video or does it matter?

    Thanks and be well,

    Trav

  • Hi Trav,

Acharya Shree speaks on a lot of different topics. The videos don't really have an order except for his interview and his vegetarian videos, which both have 3 parts. :o) -Tammy (Yogeesh Ashram)

  • everyone has a view on weed, but only because of weed iv been able to better myself in finding the truth, that love and only love is the most important thing, if weed is making me say this, is it not bad?, although ever since i have found the truth i need not to smoke weed any longer, i believe that its a gateway but should not be abused and once the truth is found within you, then is the time to give up. this is wat i have done and is only my opinion
