Kicking the badger is about all 4E has to offer. But Wot¢ has to do something to compete with console and online games. A real game system can stand on it's own merits without catering to munchkins.
@Dragdamar While true it's a commercial issue, wasn't it for the biggest errataed manual ever, they actually packed up a game that works without each DM having to fix it. Bad news, that means it's a "our party vs the evildoers" game and people wish they could do other things they could do before. But when you try to do that same things in 3.x the game goes to a stall. Forgites analyzed the issue pretty well, search for the forge forums.

I'm a lv 4 scourge half-elf Warlock, I know Common, Elven, and Draconic languages, I'm using the Rod of Corruption and I have a pet wererat that recently evolved from a hyena, and in my last session I obtained a bag that due to my Arcana check I found out is a special bag that I can put anything in it and it will only weigh like a pound! Again, only recently played so I don't remember the name of the bag.
@koboldasylum I remember AD&D, it's hard for me to chose between that and 3.5. Different play styles, but I like both. 4.0 was just way too simplistic, no real customization or differences in class... It's basically a paper MMO. Not to mention most people I know who like 4.0 are powergamers/munchkins (they play for the goal of "winning", basically becoming the strongest character). Right now I run 3.5, and (Sometimes) BRP mostly because most people I know who play run 3.5.

She does kick ass as a warlock. I ran one in the last 4rth ed campaign me and my friends did. The FIRST half of that campaign was a lot of fun, untill all of a sudden the DM hopped on the butthurt bandwagon and started halfassing it. Then he blamed the SYSTEM. It's just roleplaying, you roleplay good, you have fun. End of story.
2nd edition was great, I was always more of a 3.5 fan. However no matter which side of that fence your on we can all collectively agree then 4E is the -end- of dungeons and dragons. It has completely ruined the game entirely.

It's a tactic, cooperative game. You can't have the "I can kill the monster alone" PC. And that just pisses off some 3.5 cleric or wizard. You have no more save or dies, neither as player weapons. There is no "simple character that does nothing but can be played with ease by dull players", aka the barbarian.
@Azraelseraphim more than ever, the game is you against the monsters, not "you convincing the DM that if you take this precautions and do that thing and the monster should act as his intelligence score implies, then things go the way you want". It's more about combat, positioning on the grid, slowly grinding enemy HPs. Tanks can tank instead of being just "ignore me, I deal no damage but you can't hit me". The cons? No more combo shenanigans, 300 damage per turn at level 10 using cheese, less PP
Dungeons & Dragons ended with 2nd edition. After that, the game lawyers took over the business and now they rule the game. Intuition, imagination, creativity--all shot down by "YOU CAN'T DO THAT! Page 44 says..."
When I played AD&D, we used our consensus--which changed with every group-- to tell us what *our* rules were--as gamers---, and we *liked* it!
Now, the DM has become GM and has to fight every decision; the rules dictate ratherthan coordinate.

The animation if cool and the gnome's voice and acting are funny, but otherwise this video demonstrates one of the many reasons why the new D&D kinda sucks. A half-demon... hmm way to appeal to the mary-sue crowd, Wizards.

been playing since second edition... not sure why everyone seems to dislike 4th edition I thought it was ok. My group tends to jump from edition to edition to change things up each campaign.

The mechanics do very little in ANY of the version for story telling. If you're not getting in good roleplaying that's more the fault of the people you're playing with or your DM not the system.
ok there are a lot of people complaining about 4th edition well really you have to move on its out now and theres nothing you can do about it. If you prefer a different edition play that edition nobodys going to stop you just because some people prefer different versions of the game doesnt meen there is one 'perfect' edition.
all accurate except for eldritch blast hitting multiple targets. the thing does 1d10 at level 1 at-will. multiple targeting would be far too powerful, especially since it's a ranged basic attack.
The character of player heroics is truly captured by this video. Although, listening to our tiny friend talk about being a monster, does make it sound like a sweet gig.
@UnbeltedSundew They just decided to put the gnomes in the second player's handbook, along with half-orcs, shifters, druids, barbarians, shamans, sorcerers, and other races and classes. Apparently, they thought that the gnomes would fit in with them better than the PHB1 races and classes.
@markermage Indeed, I found that out after I posted. It is a strange arrangement still if you ask me though, but it's their game and they can do with it what they want. Even though 3rd edition streamlined the game a lot, my favorite D&D games are still the 2nd edition advanced D&D. It just had all the right flavours and atmosphere for me, which got watered down in 3rd and more in 3.5 and now somehow seem to have entirely disappeared.
I love D&D....for the Dragons...I have never actually played the game..But I got the books for the cool Dragons and the imagination.
But The Tiefling rocks! That would perfectly mirror my personality and secretly I want to play now as a Tiefling character! (a good one...but I love the concept of one)
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I don't know why people were/are on such a tear about Gnomes being in the Monster Manual in 4th Edition, considering they were in the Monster Manual, alongside Dwarves, Elves, Halflings, and Humans, from the very beginning of D&D. I mean, yeah, Gnome wasn't a playable race at the beginning of 4th Edition, but the way these people were going on, you'd think it never was or something.

The animation if cool and the gnome's voice and acting are funny, but otherwise this video demonstrates one of the many reasons why the new D&D kinda sucks. A half-demon... hmm way to appeal to the mary-sue crowd, Wizards.
Thank gods for Pathfinder..or 3.5 x Awesome. the flavor and the system are still intact for awesome rpg experiences.

been playing since second edition... not sure why everyone seems to dislike 4th edition I thought it was ok. My group tends to jump from edition to edition to change things up each campaign.

The mechanics do very little in ANY of the version for story telling. If you're not getting in good roleplaying that's more the fault of the people you're playing with or your DM not the system.

ok there are a lot of people complaining about 4th edition well really you have to move on its out now and theres nothing you can do about it. If you prefer a different edition play that edition nobodys going to stop you just because some people prefer different versions of the game doesnt meen there is one 'perfect' edition.

all accurate except for eldritch blast hitting multiple targets. the thing does 1d10 at level 1 at-will. multiple targeting would be far too powerful, especially since it's a ranged basic attack.

@UnbeltedSundew They just decided to put the gnomes in the second player's handbook, along with half-orcs, shifters, druids, barbarians, shamans, sorcerers, and other races and classes. Apparently, they thought that the gnomes would fit in with them better than the PHB1 races and classes.

@markermage Indeed, I found that out after I posted. It is a strange arrangement still if you ask me though, but it's their game and they can do with it what they want. Even though 3rd edition streamlined the game a lot, my favorite D&D games are still the 2nd edition advanced D&D. It just had all the right flavours and atmosphere for me, which got watered down in 3rd and more in 3.5 and now somehow seem to have entirely disappeared.

I love D&D....for the Dragons...I have never actually played the game..But I got the books for the cool Dragons and the imagination.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I don't know why people were/are on such a tear about Gnomes being in the Monster Manual in 4th Edition, considering they were in the Monster Manual, alongside Dwarves, Elves, Halflings, and Humans, from the very beginning of D&D. I mean, yeah, Gnome wasn't a playable race at the beginning of 4th Edition, but the way these people were going on, you'd think it never was or something.
