unfortunately the vid doesn't do this work justice. really a stunning show. one of the best of the year so far. JS is one of the most fascinating artists working today, though i wouldn't characterize her color sense as "cheery" myself. extraordinary
color combo's and restrained/ freaked-out use of everyday materials. i would add 'installation art' to her job description. loved it!
Thanks for the look at both shows which I regretfully missed.
I love Jessica Stockholder's work and think she is one of the most influential artists working today. Her first show years ago took formalist painting ideas literally off the wall, using everyday materials. I was stunned by it then and still am fascinated.
l wonder if J. Stockholder's pieces represent something to her or if she just collages with random thought ,or no thought. Either way it works well to the senses
Did he get dropped by Barbara gladstone or was that a just a trial run or an i remembering wrong? that show looked like a whole lot of re-hashing.....

Matthew Barney at 1:17? It's funny how these guys are still on the Black Metal, Death Rock trip. Not that I don't like their art, it's just funny.

Excellent, loved Stockholder's work ... didn't care for Violette, though. He should have cast himself in salt for looking backward at a Longo piece.
