i love the metallica version i like metallica more than megadeth im fairly new to metal so i was neutral when i first listened to both bands. And i gotta say to me megadeth is overrated.
if you listen closely, metallica changed the first riff of four horsmen from the mechanix so it sounds different from mustaines version..you need an ear for that ..any way: vocals-hetfield ,guitar- kirk (especailly cuz of the middle section but also cuz the last solo is more melodic and fast whereas daves was just fast). bass-cliff (although ellefson did nicely too) and for drums-i think lars did it tastefully cuz he used rides and triplets during the verses but megadeth takes teh drums lol

The four horseman sounds so slow but its still over 200 bpm most songs dont come close to that. Four Horseman is about the same bpm as through the fire and flames which just sounds so much faster
the mechanix doesn't have the triplet bass drum 'gallop' that the four horsemen' has, and it doesnt have the bridge/ bridge solo so i guess METALLICA!!!

I have to say, after watching several live videos of both bands, there are pro's and cons to each. However I feel that Megadeths is faster, and that Dave's solo is better. Plus Lars' bass drums were off time. Overall I like Megadeths better.

Mustaine wrote both songs. I prefer The Four Horsemen because the song has more riffs and solos compared to the Mechanix, but in my opinion, Daves singing in the Mechanix is awesome along with his lyrics.

First of all mustaine wrote mechanix when he was on metallica, when they kiked him out of the band metallica change the lyrics and the title and make it shitty and slower.
oh did i mention that most of the solos in kill em all where compose by dave
dave also wrote jump in the fire when was 15 and some part of the lyrics of ride the lighting so metallica should thank dave of all that instead of stealing his song

@reinono654 FACTS: Mustaine's contribution to the early years of Metallica were still acknowledged; he received co-writing credits on four of the songs in Kill 'Em All. Two songs, "The Four Horsemen" and "Jump In the Fire" were originally written by Mustaine and "The Four Horsemen" originally titled "The Mechanix". It was performed at many early Metallica shows.

Hetfield also wrote new lyrics for both songs and retitled "The Mechanix" as "The Four Horsemen". Mustaine then sped up the original version of The Mechanix, renamed it simply "Mechanix" and included it on the first Megadeth album. Mustaine's other writing credits on Kill 'Em All are for the songs "Phantom Lord" and "Metal Militia. Quit reading unatuherized shit fat ass!

No point for arguments-Dave is a better guitarist by far.Metallica used his guitar parts and changed his lyrics and that's the worst crime a musician can do to another.On the other hand James is a better vocalist but none of their voices really impresses me.Megadeth never imitated metallica.Dave is as old and original as James is.

So, I agree that Dave wrote it, but with Metallica. And it sounded, in my oppinon, better 'cause Metallica puts something in their songs; EMOTION, compared to Mustaine who likes it fast and heavy w/out emotion... But he's still a good song writer. The only thing I hate aboute Dave is that he never changed his fucking 1980 style w/ his lion's hair lol. But about this song, Dave dicided that it was "his" song and copied it with Megadeath, he only changed the lyrics.

I have to say, after watching several live videos of both bands, there are pro's and cons to each. However I feel that Megadeths is faster, and that Dave's solo is better. Plus Lars' bass drums were off time. Overall I like Megadeths better.
