This is such superb nostalgic music! Which deserves to be known by more people, so a good point by posting it here. This Canzone is I think an incredible succesfull transformation of a dream (a longing, a vague rememberence of a love) into music, one hears influences by Puccini , Wagner and Berlioz (Nuits dété), but Martucci has a distinct personal style.

Nice version by Freni, although for me the vibrato on the top notes is sometimes too much. I prefer Brigitte Balleys and also Rachel Yakar
